    Voikya, you need to compile libpng as a static library, then static link it to the mcmap binary so that other people can run it easily without installing anything. Otherwise, it'll crash on other people's systems.

    There might be additional features that I half-started or more bugs than the existing released version, sorry about that. I don't have a clean copy anymore, apparently. I've lost all interest in Minecraft over the past few months and life has picked up at the same time.

    To make it fully funtional with 1.1, it needs a lot of work. You will need to:

    Fix several crash bugs that have cropped up in Mac OS X v10.7 (Lion)
    Build the newest mcmap version
    Update the biome extractor (the source of that is available here, but will likely be redundant with 1.2 I hear)
    Fix the texture pack color extractor
    Fix the default color sets
    Fix the block finder plist
    Probably more things I forgot
    Deal with my frightening code that is a result of learning Cocoa as I created this.

    If someone who is a resonably talented developer wants to pick up the torch and issue an update via the automated update mechanism, contact me when you have a build ready with your own signing certificate and update server configured. If it's good work and I trust you, I'll push it out and from then on, you've got the keys.

    It has generic support for 1.0.0, like it's not going to crash or erase the new blocks, and you can place them using manual block ID selection, but it doesn't have automatic support for them. And you can't edit The End easily.



    Unrelated question, can someone explain the chunk relighting process? I just did some operations on a quite large map and the recalculation is taking ages, with the bar constantly resetting. I know this is what it's supposed to do, but could someone explain?

    Edit: Six hours and counting!

    Edit 2: Ok, nevermind, I looked at the console that opens up along with MCEdit. It's doing the world in batches and each bar fill is a lighting refinement pass. It's on batch 27/64. I guess another 6 hours await me.

    Does anyone here still use 10.5? My old Mac bit it, so all I've got is 10.7 and Xcode 4, which won't compile anything for 10.5. I want to issue an update but it'll break compatibility with 10.5. I really would not care to have this thread fill up with a million people who can't read, will ignore any notices I put up. How many of you are still using Leopard?

    The explanation is that from a programmatic standpoint, it would be nearly impossible to analyze connectivity and simulate physics of an infinitely expansive world. And even if you did, all you'd get is a game that's less visually striking and has really weird, still non-nonsensical physics. So instead nothing is simulated but sand and gravel, which do not stick to other blocks and always fall down.

    In terms of, like, mythos... magic? I don't see anything wrong with "because this world works that way", no explanation needed or given.

    When I issue an update, I'll do my best to add the new blocks to mcmap. The builds that come with Live are specially compiled in an XCode project I maintain so that I can statically link a universal binary of libpng and ensure a few other small reliability things. I'll make sure all the new blocks make it in.

    Who on earth would want to look for their own most recent posts? I'm exclusively interested in finding threads that I've posted in that other people have also posted in since I last checked. That's how using a large forum like this works. You post in threads which subscribes you to them, (or subscribe manually) and then they show up in a feed for you to keep track of. That's how PHPBB3 and vBulletin work and it's really great. This setup is awful. I don't know how anyone navigates it efficiently short of starting up their own set of bookmarks and checking each one.

    Yes, that's exactly what we need. Mostly just the second one. I'd also like a convenient link to that page instead of the ridiculous "View New Content" link on the top right of every page. On a forum this big, it's just a collection of random stuff, most of which isn't interesting to a given user. We can browse for new content in the appropriate places.

    This doesn't really help. It doesn't show if there are new replies in the thread the post was in, it orders only by my last post, and it takes up a huge amount of space. We need a page like My Content, but ordered by the most recent post in each thread. PHPBB3 had one and it was easily the feature I used most frequently. It's essential for keeping track of multiple discussion topics over time. I doubt I'm alone.

    The forum might have working search and a million other nifty features, but without basics like this, it's a massive step back in terms of usability.
