It is a good thing there is a pattern of gravel to follow then (And I have only put one map out for download )
But about a tutorial for the mod, bigjoe11a, then I don't think there is one. But I can give you a few tips in a nicer tone then what the other fans of this mod gave you. If you go on a superflat world and starts experimenting with the different components, you will soon figure out how they all work. The curves are bending 45 degrees, wich means that you can either use diagonal tracks or use anouther 45 degree turn to make it a full 90 degree turn, or back straight the in the same direction you started. But you will have to place it from where the turn will end, if that made any sense. You cant place it where the previous turn ends, sins the tracks are pointed 45 degrees instead of going straight. You have to figure out where the other part of the turn are suposed to be placed, wich can be a bit hard the first times. I think there is some schematics out for download that you can use with MCedit, wich are gravel (or another block) in the same shape as the turns. Then it is easeier to plan out a railway, sins you can place out the turns with for example mc edit. Switches need a swichstand to work. There is an area on the switches that stands out from the rest, and this is the place you need to place the switchstand next to in order to be able to switch the tracks. You know that you have done it right when you see an animation on the switch (not the switchstand. There is always an animation on this, even tho it do not switch the tracks) There is not much more I can tell you. How to place them right is stuff that needs to be tried out yourself on a superflat world.

Not easy using a lap top. I have the same problems. Therefore I do not build large yards and stations. Keep things small, and you will have less problems. Also optifine is your friend here. It helps out on the fps. And about the render distance, 2 chuncks is not good, as you say. I do not have the problem that you have, where 2 chuncks is worse than 5. But I have noticed that it does not always load the railway curves if you have to small render distance. Wich makes the train "derail". Always use minimun 3-4 when opperating a train.

I started the construction of a new railway, and if somebody want to see some pictures, I have a few here. Not much on it a the moment other than two towns, some bridges and a small industrial area. The pictures is also still not of the best quality, sins I have a bad computer and can't "see" to far in Minecraft.
A small bridge crossing a river. The river was generated by the "streams mod". (And if anybody wants to use it, you should only use it on a new world. I found out that it have some issue when used on a world where you already have railway tracks. They turn to water...)
A second bridge, and a small town.
Yet another bridge. I promisse. No more bridges now. The area arround the railway will be better detailed with farms, roads, houses and so on along the tracks.
A part of the second town. Yet some work to be done here. The morning express passing by.
The start of an industrial area, where there will be a mining railway, factories, chemical plants and so on. Here is also a locomotive shed, and the ability to turn the trains around. Still much work to be done to give it an industrial feel.

Good job Naiten. I have a question. Will it sometime in the future be a posibility to make gravel automaticly appear under railway tracks? With the flex-tracks I would assume it to be harder to know where to place the gravel. Is this is something that you know would manage to implant in a distant future? It would make railway building alot easier.

Good job. It looks great as always.

Seeing how people keep asking if the ROW stock loads chunks, I thought I'd let you guys know that I've finished creating a chunkloader in the ROWAM keyed to ROW stock:
See all the moving dots? Those are chunks loaded by trains. So far I've gotten a train to run from one end of Doffen's Jernbane map to the other, which is about a full Minecraft day's journey.
Also made it so the camera follows you when you're on a train, provided a bogie block is in viewing range. Not horribly useful, but it looks cool going around corners:
Fantastic! Now your mod becomes really useful. To have a train running automated between towns and cities is a nice feature for a "digital model railway". Good job.
And the models looks fantastic as always, DAYdiecast.

Ah. The only thing I did not think of. I even tried to put the Yer in an anvil. Thanks.

Clearly I must have missed out on one part of the mod. I see that one is now able to change the writing on the side of the Yer? How is that done?
May 9, 2015I have started a new map a while ago, and had a focus on a industrial railwaytown this time. I thought I might post some pictures for those who is interested.Posted in: WIP Mods
I finaly made a tunnel wich is not just a square hole in the mountain. The railway goes from the town I am about to show you, and over to the future location of another town.
Here you see most of the town (for now), with railway, trams and cars.
A view from one of the industrial docks, and over to the fishing facilities and the town.
An overview of the industrial area and the railway intersection.
Streetlevel of an industrial area with railwaycrossings down the street.
Some factories have direct access to the railway, and can load their goods directly on and off the train.
From a different angle.
I didnt find any good place to make a passenger railwaystation, so it had to be placed underground. So the railway goes under the city and functions as a subway.
One of the stations. There is curently to stations, but I plan an expansion of the underground network later on to include the newer parts of the city.

Have you talked to Naiten about that mod of yours, don_bruce ? I don't know how you coded that mod, but I would assume that you must have looked at Naitens code, and maybee played around with it? The mod seems amazing, but not if it is against the conditions one agree to by downloading the mod.
Don't poke the bear. Espesially when the bear is russian...

EDIT: Not only that, but the wheels on tanks cars spin the wrong way too It seems that the entire model got reversed somehow .
I knew there was something familiar with the locations on your pictures And for those who are interested, I have started building a bit on a new map, with the focus on railway inside a industrial city (If that made any cense). I will post some pictures soon.

More like spam, that have nothing to do with the mod.
Nice pictures, Glizdorpl. Is that a custom map you are using, or a minecraft generated one?
Jan 26, 2015"Also, in the new system any kind of track will be allowed to be placed diagonally, thus giving more abilities for railway builders."Posted in: WIP Mods
All hail the king! That will become realy handy. Good luck with the rewriting.

Yes, it is made by TheMcVikings. So the terrain on the map looks absolutely incredible (except the part where I put in the snowbiome).
