posted a message on TooManyItems, the inventory editor and more (1.8 Forge is here!)
thanks for all you do this Mod is not only the best, but if you run a Bukkit Server it is now almost a necessity ! ! !
My only problem is that with this update 1.7.2, I can not give myself items in-game, as op - multiplayer on my server.
It says "the item "minecraft" does not exist". I need this to work as it has for me in the past. HELP ! ! !
It is so much more work for me to do the bukkit /item command and I have to retrieve all the item #'s.
    Can this be fixed ?

Ok I got ya, You can connect locally, but your friends can't connect via intenet.
There are still several thing that could be the problem.
First and foremost is this a Bukkit Server or Regular minecraft server?
Make sure that you server.properties file is in online mode
Should be like line 21....................... online-mode=true
Can your friends even see your server in their client?

    Quote from theLucror

I have tested and localhost works fine along with the 192.168.1.*** The only problem I am having is the external ip will not work. I port forwarded useing the following parameters

    Device Name: 192.168.1.2
    IP Adress:192.168.1.2
    Application Fowarded: Minecraft

    Minecraft rule settings

It sounds like it may be your ISP or Anti-Virus/Firewall
Do you have Windows Firewall on and your Anti-Virus Firewall on.
You may need to congig both of them to allow this port.
And are you using the correct IP Address for your friends to connect it shouldn't be 192.168.1.anything that is only for your local wired and wireless network. It needs to be the ip address of your server as it is connected to your ISP.
Ex.......I have Comcast Xfinity here and my connection IP for my friends is 68.38.69.xx:25565. If I gave them my network ip they wouldn't be able to connect. I use localhost on same comp, and 192.168.1.112 for other users on my Network, because they are coming to my server via internal connection [wireless router], but my friends are connecting over the internet, hence the reason they need my ISP IP Address [plus 25565 port]
Is this helping you in anyway?
Also are you familiar with the command line in Windows?
    Open up Command Prompt.
type........... ipconfig /all and you should see your IP Address.
Is your server Computer connected to a router/switch or is the Computer connected wirelessly, believe it or not there are difference when your trying to get correct ip Address. In a lot of cases though if you go to myipaddress.com and just add the :25565 port to that address, Your friends should be able to connect.
    Hop this helps
    Let me know
    Dj

    Protocol: TCP/UDP
    Port Start: 25565
    Port end: 25565
    Port Map: 25565

Could any of these port settings be the issue?

There are a few things that it could be but first thing you need to answer.
Can you play/access the server locally on the same machine that you are running your server?
With the server up and running, which looking at you console log, looks like the server is fine.
Hence the "Done" script . What you need to do is start up you Minecraft Multiplayer session and add your server.
Add Server...........I name it.......My Server.............and in the server address use localhost . This is the first step,
because the server and game are on the same machine, you bypass any port forwarding issues. If it works and you can play on
your server world, you've eliminated your Server, your Minecraft and you computer from the list of issues. If this doesn't work you may need to give me/us some more info. A very common mistake that new server hosts make is giving out the wrong ip address to remote players.
Remember for you to test your machine is running server and you can sign in you use "localhost" if you have other computers that are connected to your Network via hard wiring or wireless the ip address will be different than the address that you will give to your remote players/friends. Additional computers on you network will use the server computers ip address as defined by your router or switch.
Like for example. I have a cisco router on my network I use localhost for my computer that I run my server on, which is usually not a good idea to run both MC server and MC on same machine, it causes lag if you don't have a killer setup (Ram.Proccessor,Java 64-bit..etc).
My other computers on my network connect with 192.168.1.139:25565 , which is my computers ip address on my network assigned by my router, which can be changed/configured, but my friends need my ISP's (Comcast) assigned ip address followed by :25565 [port].
Which is totally different then what my router assigns. If you google "myipaddress.com and add :25565 after that ip address, this should be the server that your friends will use to connect. This is not always the case, but there are several other things that may need to be looked at, but we will need you to try these first simple step and may need more info from you before we proceed to next steps. I will be away from my home for most of the day, but if this doesn't fix you problem, I will try to respond as soon as possible. Also...Always make
sure you are running the latest version of Java.
    Good Luck
    Hope this helps
    Dj.

posted a message on MultiMC 5 [Windows / Linux / Mac]
    update #60 No Good
It downloads it, but says it can't find MCUpdate.exe and crahes on me
I can close out and run #53 no problems though.
But when i execute MCUpdate.exe it is version #60 and it works fine,
I just changed the Desktop shortcut properties to set the target
from MultiMC to MultiMCUpdate and it works fine.
But obviously we now have both versions in our folder
I guess the dowload updates the MCUpdate and not the MultiMC app.
    I assume that's not good?
Won't it effect future updates, anyway i got it working no Problem,
Also, we can just create shortcut on Desktop to MultiMCUpdate for now, but again, future updates?
Please advise if we should reinstall totally.
My MultiMC is 4 gigs now and I don't need any Mod problems if i change stuff.
    HELP ! ! !

    here's final error message

1:20:47 AM: Failed to copy the file 'C:\MultiMC\MultiMCUpdate.exe' to 'C:\MultiMC\MultiMC.exe' (error 32: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)

1:20:51 AM: Failed to copy the file 'C:\MultiMC\MultiMCUpdate.exe' to 'C:\MultiMC\MultiMC.exe' (error 32: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)
1:20:51 AM: Failed to install updates. Tried 5 times.
This is probably because the file that is supposed to be updated is in use.
Please check to make sure there are no other running MultiMC processes
and that MultiMC's updater has sufficient permissions to replace the file
    C:\MultiMC\MultiMC.exe and then try again.
