Prepare to have them whip out their lawyers and use them to forcefully penetrate your injustice.

You forgot one, Players who only tend to play SSP - Don't care but find all of the hate over this funny as hell.

Has any big server owner reacted to this yet? I really wonder how they will adapt (or not even bother at all and shut down)

From what I've heard Hypixel is being allowed to still operate their store by Mojang under pretty much the same conditions.

The problem with the above statement is we all know better. Its unrealistic isn't it. The people who paid then and don't pay now were paying not to play the game, but to have a status above others. I would argue that maybe, just maybe, that's what makes the mojang guys cringe.

If things do actually change (I'm still sceptical) then yea man, there are lots of people who stand to have lots of cash spent just instantly becoming "just like everyone else". Mind you I didn't say their $ was worth nothing as maybe it kept a server alive or someone's job afloat. But yea, they didn't pay all that money to be like everyone else now did they! Ohhhhh they gonna be mad.

Its still doable. Guude and the Mindcrack guys did it without special ranks or any of that. Don't underestimate the power of having a good group and publicizing it. Now they are an extreme example but it just goes to show that a good group of people who are public about having a good time can be a very powerful marketing tool.

Crap you're right!
The SSP recluse: Dem peoples in the interwebz be crazy! Look at 'em all freak out!

The Clinical view: People won't help pay for my server if I don't make them better than everyone for paying. People hate being equal.
The Doomsday View: Now I can't pay for my server!
The rational view: I'm not screwing people, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing to pay for my server. Mojang probably won't come after me... probably.
Players with no $: Woo! Now we are all equal!
Players with lots of $: Crap!.. now we are all equal...

My guess is they will stay quiet and keep operating as usual. They probably won't do much until Mojang shows whether or not they are going to actually take legal action. If you have a solid cash flow I bet it would be worth the risk to wait and see if another server in that class gets a take down. I bet they just risk it not being their server to get hit firs. That is, if any do at all.

Hey Mojang, I know you couldn't care less, but you just lost a user.

What has allowed the current state of things is Mojang not enforcing their EULA. Who's to say that won't still be the case. They could very possibly make all this commotion and then effectively do nothing again. Things would change but still stay exactly the same.
As a small server OP though, I hope they crush those servers that rely on creating disparity and the use of exploitative methods to thrive. Those people are just the worst.
