You need to get your ip address to play on your server so to join your server, go the servers tab and click on add server and put in your ip address and then join your server.
Try resetting the game. Maybe this can help. If the game is crashing at the mojang screen which does a graphics check then try updating your video drivers.

This not a switch problem but minecraft's problem. I would suggest to try resetting the game for your user and try playing.
Make sure that minecraft, your nintendo switch's system software and your controllers are updated.

You can try running a lan server by changing online-mode to false.

Does your friend have a xbox live gold membership? If he does have it and ig you can not play together then contact xbox support.
