    I'd like to bring this to the top. This is a fantastic project.

    I'd like to also dive into a specific aspect of the project, and would wonder if there's interest with anyone in providing an easy way of upgrading maps? I know months ago I contacted jaquadro about my server at the time attempting to upgrade from Feed The Beast (FTB) MindCrack 1.4.7 to the newest FTB modpack (undecided which one specifically will be used).

    I was wondering if we could implement a map upgrade utility, perhaps as a collaborative/team venture, if desired? I would be more than happy to contribute however possible.

    posted a message on BOUNTY: BlockID batch converter
    Ah thank you. This appears to be exactly what I need. As a preliminary strategy, I'm thinking about using the CustomBlocks project as a starting point. Then, in your snippet here, I'd insert the block conversion:

    // x, z, y is the most efficient order to scan blocks (not that
    // you should care about internal detail)
    for (int x = 0; x < xdim; x++) {
    for (int z = 0; z < zdim; z++) {
    for (int y = 0; y < ydim; y++) {
    BlockInfo info = chunk.Blocks.GetInfo(x, y, z);
    if (info.ID == DEPRECATED_BLOCK_ID_BASALT);
    info.ID = NEW_BLOCK_ID_SIMILARLOOKINGBLOCK;
    else if (info.ID == DEPRECATED_BLOCK_ID_ABC)
    info.ID = NEW_BLOCK_ID_XYZ;
    //
    // other block conversions
    //
    }
    }
    }

    Would you say this is a good approach? To my knowledge, I don't believe there are block ID assignments for 1.6.X FeedTheBeast MindCrack yet, but once they are revealed, I would grab the assignments then.

    The only problem I anticipate is a situation where you have something like this:

    OldBlockA = 10
    OldBlockB = 11
    OldBlockC = 12

    NewBlockA = 11
    NewBlockB = 12

    When you assign BlockA from 10 to 11, you may risk doing a second conversion from 11 to 12. I think one way is to assign a Boolean flag for whether the block has been converted already; another way would be to first assign it to a temporary value. What are your thoughts on this?

    This would solve the problem of tons of FeedTheBeast players, who would otherwise be forced to reset maps.

    Thanks!

    We are looking for a converter program that will reassign BlockID values based on our choosing. The overarching objective is to update a 1.4.7 Mindcrack map to the presently-unreleased, but anticipated 1.6.X version.

    A possible design would be for the user to provide a text file that would contain pairs of BlockIDs.

    This would be widely beneficial to many people.

    Something similar existed previously, but isn't compatible with the new ID ranges.

    We can work out the logistics and monetary compensation offline.

    Yea, my internet connection is good. It seems to be a communication problem between two laptops on the same router. One laptop is running McAfee total protection, the other just standard windows firewall and defender. Any thoughts if either of those programs could be causing a communication problem?

    My bad; I apologize for having misread your post. I would try disabling both. Also, if you two are connected via wireless, do you both have great signals? Have you tried making sure Windows recognizes the network as either a Home or Office network (and not Public)?

    Open an Explorer window
    Enter the following: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center
    Under "View your active networks"
    Ensure it says "Work" or "Home" network and not "Public network."

    I'd like to make a plug for this mapping software. We've been using it to map our server, and it runs great. We run the latest development version, with the zoom range 1:16 to 1:1. Our map is several GB in size, so it's unfeasible to create more zoomed-in maps.

    Is it possible to make it so that there isn't a picture made if the chunk is undiscovered (or make all the black or checkered tiles tied to the same file to save file space)?

    \t is the regex for TAB. There's (and you'll kick yourself) a tab at the very end. I've marked it below in red:

    Admins:
    prefix: '&0[&9Owner&0]&5 '
    permissions:
    - '*'<THE TAB IS HERE>

    posted a message on Looking for a laid-back server
    We have a server that is very laid back. Please have a look: DiZASTiX.com

    Our server features massive themed areas, so different types of players can play in different areas, while still preserving the theme of each area. Please visit our website: minecraft.dizastix.com, which will give you a good feel for what we're about. Our server runs FeedTheBeast: MindCrack, so you'll need to download FTB: MindCrack from the website: http://feed-the-beast.com/. If you need help with setting it up, please do not hesitate to ask for help either on our forums or by emailing me directly ([email protected]).

    I tried turning off firewalls on both laptops at the same time and that didn't make a difference. It is like it is not even trying to connect, it immediately gives Connection Lost error. Is there a test I can do to determine if it is a network or Mincraft problem? I don't know if I'm chasing a network setting or a mincraft software issue.

    Try pingtest.net.
