posted a message on Poll: Do you think that the Xbox 360, PS3, PSVita, and Wii U editions need an upgrade in world size?

Actually, even WITH outdated and limited hardware, that isn't what is keeping these versions from having better worlds. I've done quite a bit of googling and searching and research on this subject, and there just isn't any clear-cut answer as to just why they can't give us better terrain options. Even a customizer like I said if they can't increase the size for whatever arbitrary reason. I'm sure bugfixes and content updates/catching the gameplay up to PC likely takes priority with development, but these basic square necessary features are long, long overdue. It was okay back when the game was still parallel to 1.0-1.6, but now it just isn't enough.

posted a message on Question regarding texture packs

If one of the texture packs is paid DLC, I believe they do require also purchasing that texture pack.

If it's one of the included texture packs with the Wii U, then no, it should just auto-select it.

posted a message on Poll: Do you think that the Xbox 360, PS3, PSVita, and Wii U editions need an upgrade in world size?

This is an open letter to any staff of Minecraft/Mojang/4J Studios who may end up seeing this. The console edition is being massively held behind by the world generation size. People have been clamoring for years now that it needs an upgrade; it just isn't enough.

So let's list some reasons as to why this proposed idea should be put into motion:

    1. With the new content updates, it is extremely difficult - if not impossible - as I don't believe it's been done (or at least documented yet) - to generate a world that includes at least one of every single possible item.

I mean -everything-. Every biome, every structure, every undergound cave type, dungeon type, village, type, temples, woods - all of it. You don't have to worry about this in the current-gen consoles excluding Wii U, nor the PC version. Even the Pocket Edition has infinite worlds.

    2. Some people enjoy exploration more than creation/staying put.

This is a big one. Some people sometimes want to leave the dwelling they've spent so long making, to go out and explore the beyond, but then be able to come back and reminisce/ nab some extra supplies they left for a rainy day. In all complete honesty, ONE Minecraft world is all anyone should ever need for their entire time playing the game, as the infinite generation could be used as a tool for starting fresh, without losing ANY progress, simply by moving far enough away, and getting lost in a new amazing world just off the path from your home.

    3. Resources are very limited.

However, your mileage may vary for this one. Although a world over 800x800 blocks and at least 64 blocks deep should be plenty for one person to gather up enough resources for any extended amount of time, PEOPLE PLAY THIS GAME WITH THEIR FRIENDS, AND SOMETIMES IN LARGE GROUPS. There just is not enough world in one map for eight people to truly get into a real deep elongated playthrough, as eventually, everyone WILL run out of mine-able material. I personally have experienced fatigue while mining and searching for resources in a map with only three people regularly playing, because we had explored all the larger cave areas we could find, after scouring every inch of the map. Strip mining should never be forced upon the player, and this makes it more exhausting for people to collect and gather to make their large empires and cities lined with gold.

At the least, there should be even a SLIGHT upgrade to the map size, - even 1080x1080 just like the Xbox One/PS4's small option - anything. Just enough to spawn in at least one of everything. As it currently stands, there just isn't enough room, at all.

At the VERY VERY least, there should be an option for the player to be able to choose which biomes he or she would prefer to play on, without spoiling the layout of the map itself, this could even work similar to how customizing the Superflat World works.

As a longtime Minecraft supporter, owner/purchaser of three versions, and buying and gifting at least three OTHER versions, with plans to eventually get the Vita edition, I implore the staff of 4J to at the very least consider even the slightest world generation upgrade.

I have attached a poll, to see if any readers of this post in passing will voice their opinion as well.

Best regards, and hoping for the best outcome for all.

posted a message on 3DS version comiing soon?

As much as I would enjoy a Minecraft 3DS port, even if it was a NEW 3DS exclusive, it would only ever be the pocket edition and would forever be gimped from the rest of the versions. It just isn't in the cards.

posted a message on Infinite World Terrain Generation

+1. At the very least, the world size needs an upgrade, there just isn't enough space to generate all of the content the newer updates has to offer.

I'm dreading the 360/WiiU port of 1.9. It's going to be awful if there isn't enough room for everything.

    Give us SOMETHING 4J, ANYTHING.

I just want to say that whatever you did to the sprint controls... oh em gee... please revert back. These controls are more oversensitive than social justice warriors.

I came here to post this. 4J, please change this back. This is a nightmare to try and mine for any long amount of time because if you move the joystick even slightly varying amounts, sprint engages. This is awful.

posted a message on Anyone else disappointed with the new maps?
    Quote from UpUp_Away95»

I wish they would incorporate some sort of system where we could specify which biomes we want and in what percentage of the map we want them (this was suggested a long time ago by one of the old regulars here - Tamorrr)... or if they would classify the algorithms into some basic seed types that we could select on a list, say: Mostly ocean (for survival island), Mostly Snow (for Christmas themes), etc.) The part that isn't the "mostly" could then be just random. If they made it even an exclusive for the Xbox 360 and PS3, it would be a nice way to "compensate" us for the lack of a larger world and allow us to more easily find seeds to play the games we want purposefully limited (like Survival Island) without going to superflats and while keeping the leaderboards and achievements active.

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!!!! We can customize SuperFlat worlds, why shouldn't we be able to have sliders or something to customize survival worlds? At least a pie chart or something! This is ridiculous having to sift through worlds for hours to find something specific i'm looking for!

posted a message on Issue with Redstone in TU30 - Tick Lag?

I'm having issues creating a flickering light on my creative world. The redstone signal appears to skip over repeaters at times, almost as if the game ticks are lagging. Sometimes only one half of the lights will light up, and other times the other half will. It's completely random and it makes no sense given that the repeaters are all set equally and with equal lighting, etc.

posted a message on Anyone know any good Seeds for TU29 that has 1 of most everything?

I'm looking for a good seed to start a new world in, something that has most (at least 75%) of the biomes, and at least one village and each of the temples (but don't disclose their locations please!)

Edit: While looking for my own, I'll post some honorable mentions.

1 (yeah just 1)- Half desert, half everything else. Contains a nice amount of villages and you can get 4 diamonds without picking up a single pickaxe, just from looking around. I won't spoil their locations!

8675309 - A land split in half, decently proportioned land with desert, jungle, snow. Still not quite what I'm looking for, but pretty damn close. I'm keeping this one for later.

    posted a message on [16x16] (1.4.X) Sharpness (Version 1.0)
Hey everyone, thanks for the stern words. I wish more people were as honest as you guys.

I made this in my free time as a side project for when I was bored. I will admit I didn't put that much effort into it, and to answer your question, yes, this is my first texture pack. I had fun making it, and it killed a lot of time for me. I may add on to it in the future and make it better, but for now we'll just have to see.

Thanks again for the honest reviews, as I said there just aren't enough people out there that can tell the truth.

Relive the "good ol' days" with this classic-style cartoonish sharp texture pack!

While staying -mostly- faithful to the default texture pack, this texture pack makes everything cartoonish and seem a bit on the retro side! Includes some original textures. I reccomend using the HD patcher with this texture pack.
