someone help please!!

still stuck at downloading packages =/

Go to your .minecraft folder and backup your saves to someplace else. Then delete your entire .minecraft folder and try the old launcher. Put your saves back in the save folder when you are done.

    WinXP,

    C:\Documents and Settings\your windows login name\Application Data\.minecraft

    Win7 (and Vista I think)
    C:\Users\your windows login name\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft

Holy crap. I don’t know where to begin praising people for making awesome stuff. So, I think I’ll cop out and not even try. lol Just a big thanks to everyone that is contributing to this thread. It is quite something now.

    ------------------
Here’s my latest “EPIC” proportioned construction. I have tons of smaller stuff, but that really isn’t what this thread is about is it? This is mostly an MCEdit construction because it would take about a year to build by hand.

    “The Twilight Realm”

This is a 326x250x45 block, glass and obsidian, bio-enclosure located 18 blocks beneath the sea.

I built the original design for the vaulted ceilings by hand for my cathedral (not finished yet, I’m only at 90 deaths/graves). Then I used MCEdit to copy and paste it then change blocks into glass and place the glowstone.

Because there is so much water above the glass, sunlight is not strong enough to prevent monsters from spawning. The light provided by the glowstone allows normal animals to spawn. What you get is an eerie twilight.

Running around in here trying to build on the surface is pretty much suicide. You need a much better defensive strategy and must work very fast until you get a defensive parameter set up.

What version is this up to as of my post here? I have 78.1 (no other updates seem to be detected), but there's only one kind of wood texture and no other

You'll need a mod to enforce a limited map size. I've heard one is called Borderlands but since I don't use any I can't say much about them.
color cloth blocks except white in the block selection list. I have the new stuff like cake, Lapis Lazuli, and Note Block. The version history says the blocks are there now and "show correctly". In the game, I can make some colored wool and place it. Then in MCEdit these blocks will show up correctly. When I press, "Alt" and hover the mouse over these blocks all of them, regardless of their true color, are listed in the tool tip as, "White Wool Cloth (35)". New trees like the birch-looking ones are rendered as the old light brown texture instead of the new white-black tree texture and Alt has them as "Tree Trunk (17)". FYI, the "Future Block!" ranges are 26 to 34 then from 93 to 255, if that helps determine anything.

I can clone these blocks and their in-game cloned versions will be whatever they are supposed to be, (birch tree, colored block, etc).

I double checked to see what version of Terrain.png MCEidt is using and it's the same one with the new tree textures, cloth, cake, etc block textures as the current one in the game (v1.2_02).

Am I missing something here? It is a bit frustrating trying to blindly clone the new trees and not knowing which is which or trying to create something with the colored wool or convert something to the colored wools and not having a selection for them.

    ---

Okay, after all that gripe, I must say that MCEdit is a top-:iapprove: program and I love using it for all sorts of things from being creative to simply fixing terrain issues and generation bugs. It is so good, I feel guilty using it for free and without giving a well-deserved donation (but I'm poor after building a new 6core PC, lol).

A program called NBTools (formerly OreGen) will do that for you.

The program is "NBToolkit", formerly "OreGen". Googling, "NBTools Minecraft" will give you only one result and that is your post. lol

Wow, I've been impressed by the stuff posted in this thread. Keep it up!

I've been playing in SMP a little bit, though dial-up is not conducive to playing SMP at all. Here's my trading post,

lol That is normal I think. I'm rarely ever at my spawn area.

I'm usually several days boat ride from it.

Cool, I hope I didn't butcher the architecture too much by not making the sides sloped.

Now take that and multiply it by 5.

Impressive, now if you can get it to dock to the Empire State building in samus7694's pics it'd be a recipe for win. (the empire state building's spire was originally to be a docking station for zepplin airships and dirigibles; which was more of a publicity stunt than for actual use)

Someone wanted to see more images of my forest and current side project. This is just some screenshots around a stone circle I made. It isn't a stonehenge replica, but it is similar. I had a lot of creepers pouring out of the woods while building it and while taking pics. I had more than one hole to fill in. lol

It makes for a good bump regardless.

Deiscorides I must know how you did the forest, please give me some pointers or some build pics. I MUST DO THIS ON MY MAP!!

    Please, please share your technique.

Read through my posts in both threads in my signature. There's not much more to explain.

Didn't see this before right now. Looks like a gladiator Colosseum. I could see putting a mob spawner in there with MCEdit and having epic night time battles. It would be great for SMP!

I feel ashamed of my harbor after seeing shockwave's.
    here is is anyway >.<

Looks pretty good to me. I don't even have a harbor yet. I'd planned one, but right now I'm only using a wee tiny boat dock.

I think most people feel overwhelmed and inadequate when seeing other people's works. Yet, what they have made usually pretty good in its own right. People are always too critical of their own work to really appreciate how good it really is.

Use [img] instead. It will create a smaller image to fit the forum and link it to the larger sized.

Yes. that is epic. I'm jealous. I humbly request in-game pics if you would.

Thanks. I'm currently working on making underground lakes and rivers for white water rapid boating trips. I can't exactly post pics because they travel for quite a long ways; I may try to post some Cartograph pics of them though.

Well I think this is epic, but for a different reason entirely.

lol, graveyards are pretty cool. I have one that I've been filling in with graves since I started playing. One grave per in-game death. I'm up to 84 graves now. It's a real project trying to expand it. I have surface graves like those you shown and a massive catacombs area with dry catacombs and wet catacombs that are in an underground lake accessed only via boat. I used different flowers and torches to symbolize the type of death for the above ground cemetery and signs telling how I died for the catacombs.

In celebration of 100 deaths I'm building a cathedral. I have the vaulted ceilings, pews, alter, pulpit, nearly done. It has an underground marina in a cave system that exits to the sea.

Here's a collage of pics of the Cemetery, Catacombs, and Crypts.
