I did not actually mean what I said I said it as a joke because jellomob believes that some member named piano something keeps taking other suggestions and basically rewriting them so he can get his popularity up.
Back to the topic:
If there was a form of swift travel there would be no need for all of the dimensions, ensuring their importance to their game.
interesting, I like this idea. I might want to implement this in my AllDemDimensions thread.
kinda ironic how having more areas in the overworld, might actually lead to more efficiently tiering dimensions.
Thanks man, I was actually thinking about this for a while but I thought others had already thought of it. If you do add it to your thread, please leave some credit for me, because you know I want all to become popular and all that lol.
I wonder what would happen if you would not actually have to change dimensions.. Instead lets say:
A player spawns into a new world and plays and plays until he/she kills the dragon.
Once the dragon is defeated, in certain towns there are added buildings that are like swift travel. Only players who have defeated the dragon have access to those buildings. In the buildings you have access to a vast map, showing the other large land mass where there are your blocks, weapons, food, etc. Now the players can choose whenever they want to travel to those lands which are across vast seas that are unpassable by boat etc.
You would be able to travel back and forth only if you have killed the dragon. Players who did not kill the dragon do not have access to the buildings, nor the travel.
This simple idea would reduce the number of dimensions by a little bit haha. :biggrin.gif:
He doesn't think about that, in fact he doesn't even care about improving minecraft at all.
He's just one of those types who wants to be known for having "his" ideas added to minecraft.
(and I say that with a lot of doubt since most of "his" are just stolen from mods) ideas
I am actually a new comer to these forums and I know where the search button is :biggrin.gif: Really a useful tool, does not make my suggestions look like exact copies haha.
I love the idea and I see that you have put in a lot of effort to express your ideas and get them out their.
But would it be more logical to inside of making a whole new dimension, just allowing the use and making of these blocks once you kill the dragon and follow all of your steps?
I mean you could basically have the so called "recipes" saved onto your character any ou are able to make them once you accomplish this goal. Players that did not kill the dragon are not allowed to make these items, could break them when placed by other players, but when they break they cannot collect them.
This would help avoid what everyone seems to want, dimensions for everything.
Dimensions are cool, but we have to keep them at a reasonable amount to actually make them seem important.
I mean if you had 50 dimensions, do you think they would all be important? Or do you think if there was only 3 dimensions their importance would be greater?
Just my opinion :smile.gif:I love the idea and I see that you have put in a lot of effort to express your ideas and get them out their.

I really like the redstone design it is something differnt, but if I were I would change the color to a red just to keep it the same as the original game. I was actually confused on what it was at first before reading your post haha
You need to understand that minecraft is not meant to be a full blown rpg, it is something more original. Mojang seems like they do not like taking other ideas into their game, so stop suggesting things that are basically just copying off those other 100 games with magic abilities.
For once, have you ever thought how your suggestions would make minecraft even more original? Or are you just thinking:
hm.. how can minecraft become a clone of other games, just with the feature of breaking blocks?
If we want to play games with magic included we have such a huge variety to choose from, but we want to have something new in this game, something that not many games have, if any ofcourse.
That is what makes minecraft so fun, it is original.
Take a look at all of the games that are trying to become like minecraft with the exact same concept just with a
different title... not many people play those games because they are just clones of minecraft.
I also think the resources they give you (in this case upgrades) should be something otherwise unavailable.
If you can exchange wheat for diamonds, even if it requires a lot, that just becomes redundant with mining. Heck, exchanging diamonds for wheat is redundant with farming.
Well it would be cool if each trader had his own prices etc, so where there were small towns the prices would be higher because the towns were isolated, but if you were in a large city then prices would be lower because of the high competition in the city.
Now if they were smart and would able to have their own deals and some kind of reasonable trade then it would work with whatever items.
Lets say you want one diamond ore.
ONe traveller in a town is willing to give you one of his for 100 pieces of your wheat.
GO to a city 200km ( just an out of the blue number:D) where trade is the center of their business and a trader is willing to give you diamond ore for only 60 pieces of wheat. Etc.
Now what if we were able to even customize the way the npc's look?
I mean not everyone would have the ability to do so, and this would be more important for servers.
What if I was able to make basically a skin for the npc's that are loyal to a town. They would all wear the same colors or something. Now if they went two towns or even cities went to war they would both be recognizable by their colors. Also adding flags and banners that can be held by the player, almost like a flag barrier.
Now what if we would be able to customize city or town emblems and introduce family coats of arms?
Sorry, but I am having so many ideas coming to me that I have to share them right away haha.
very well said :smile.gif: Loving the idea. basically you summed up and added new features to my ideas of my posts that I put last night. Thanks for working upon it, I would love to see them trade etc.
Ah yes, did you use search bar? No. So now I can argue back!
piano I think it would be better to resolve your issue through private messages so we do not have to read your arguments that are really pointless. His idea is actually really good, and there is no reason why you should come on here and hate because of what he has said on your posts. So please stop making such a big deal and face it or confront your problems somewhere else.
"Hey, a villager! :biggrin.gif:"
"..."
"What's up?"
"..."
"Want some diamonds?"
"..."
".... Hello?"
"..."
YES.
Now this is how the conversation would look like with this suggestion:
you "hey, a villager! :biggrin.gif:"
him "What else can I be? How may I help you on this fine day?"
you "What's up?"
him "Just hard work in the mines"
you "Want some diamonds"
him "Ofcourse.. who wouldn't you fool?"
you ".... Hello?"
him "I am still talking to you.."
Who WOULDN'T want a npc to talk, I would have a mega awkward conversation with one!
Haha that's the spirit!
I mean the npc's can do so much, it is incredible. They are one of the most important aspects in mmorpg games especially helping with the story line in the form of quests. I think minecraft would be able to take advantage in the same way. Besides, people who would not want the npc's to talk could just disable the option or something.
Though not everyone will accept this suggestion, I think it would help quite a few amount of people including me.
So here is the idea:
Let's say I have a town, which I have been building for quite some time now. Let's also say that I have many stores that one day I would like npc's to run.
What would happen if we could make the npc's actually SAY something?
Just like a sign is used, we used signs to get some quick message across to our users and friends, especially on servers.
Usually when we join a server, we see signs that have rules of the server, how we should start etc.
What if we were able to do the same thing with Npc's?
For example:
I put a command on an npc at the spawn point of my server and I basically write what he will say whenever someone passes by. Let's say I place the Npc, and whenever I cross him, a empty speech bubble showing that the npc is supposed to say pops up. Now lets say I tell him to write "Greetings traveler! Welcome to the Narnia" Now whenever I player passes him his little speech bubble will pop up and he will say what I have commanded him to.
So now lets go back to what I said about the stores.
What if I was able to make the npc's of the stores welcome the players and ask them questions like what they would like to buy?
What if the npc's were actually smart, and were able to interact with the player?
Lets say I walk into one of my tool shops.
The NPC says "Welcome to the tool shop..."
And from the menu I choose a wooden axe
and the npc says "that will cost you 1 iron ore" or whatever the value may be.
Just a quick example anyway...
It seems that I am leaning toward something like mmorpgs have in their games with quest.
I would love to see something like:
You walk up to an npc, press on him and press "talk"
HE tells you something, and you have a choice of replies. Your reply triggers his next reply as well.
This would be really cool, especially if the admins of the server or the owner of the world would be able to write up by themselves what they want each individual npc to say.
I know this is really a challenge, and like my other post it would take a really long time to add into the game. But I think many people especially the leaders of servers would appreciate this.
If you guys want more ideas on what npc villages are capable of read my recent post "Life in the Towns" Just my ideas about npc villages and what they are capable of doing to mc and the overall game play in general.
