Odyssey Gaming is a non-profit video game community project. Our goal is to provide quality service without compromised game-play. Currently we're focused on Multi Theft Auto and Minecraft but there are a lot of plans to expand into future projects such as MMO Guilds, FPS Clans and other similar groups.
The Oddworld MC server is currently run by myself, with some informal help from members of the community. We have a whitelist, and you can apply through our private forums if you wish. At the moment we're still looking for testers and members of the community to come forward and apply for Administration to get a more active population.
Survival!
The whole point of our server is Survival, and we have tweaked the game a bit to make it more fun and interesting as a server concept. There won't be PVP, or Creative here... just pure and simple Survival against all odds.
Experience
We've also tweaked the way experience works. You won't lose XP upon death and you can even receive XP for mining now!
Offline Mode
That's right! Our server is set to offline so even you pirates can come play with us! Yoho Matey! But fear not regular citizens, as there is a register plugin that requires you to set a custom password when logging in to prevent any major issues.
Protection
You can claim your base using a golden shovel (GriefPrevention plugin) to avoid unwanted people from destroying your stuff. You'll receive "claimblocks" for the amount of time you spend in game, which can be used to protect your builds. You can even set your own permissions to let your friends play with you.
LWC is a lightweight block protection plugin that can be used to protect single blocks, like your doors, redstone, and even chests! It also has the ability to add permissions to the owners discretion.
Server Mods
We feel we've chosen the best Forge mods to include in our server, while avoiding things like BuildCraft and Equivilance Exchange because of the amount of damage that can be done while being used by the wrong people.
RedPower 2 is an incredible mod that not only adds a ton of crafting recipes, machines and even its own power system but, changes the world generation to include Volcanos, giant rubber trees, and much more!
IndustrialCraft 2 is a "tier 2" stage mod that adds signifigant amount of end game gear/craftable upgrades and many more machines/items. It also has its own power system that includes multiple fuel types and generators and even includes Nuclear power!
Forestry is normally considered a machine addon for BuildCraft (which we won't be using), this mod adds a whole lot of fun with farming and trees as well as providing its own fuel system and engines that work with IndustrialCraft.
