I'm guessing you would initially fill the cauldron up with water, and then toss raw ingredients in. Light a fire and let it cook. This could be formalized with a work meter similar to what furnaces and brewing stands have, but otherwise this is essentially the same technique that several popular mods use (Etho's demonstrated the use of at least three of them that I've seen in his Modded Minecraft series).

I would also agree as well. Cauldrons use some high number of iron and has a low amount of uses as far from collecting water and removing colour from dyed armour. But can you explain how the mechanic would work for making the different types of Stew/Soup?
Jan 28, 2013Qwertygiy posted a message on [1.4.7/1.5.1][ThaumCraft3][Essentia Everything 2.3.2c] KeyBored Industries TC3 AddonsIntroductionPosted in: Minecraft Mods
Minecraft modding has a long and storied history. From the beginnings of ModLoader and Minecraft Coder Pack, to the construction of Minecraft Forge and Bukkit, there have been many wonderful mods. Worlds have been overrun with ogres and foxes and sharks; automatic machines have pumped out infinite supplies of cake; vehicles have been driven across vast deserts, which have then been blown up with nuclear bombs, and then filled in, and covered with self-aware villagers who construct huge cities.
But through it all, perhaps the greatest mod has been ThaumCraft, by Azanor. The original ThaumCraft was not much to look at; just some monoliths, some purple slimes, and some powerful items. Then all of us were stunned by ThaumCraft 2, and its glorious graphics, its incredible attention to balance, its painstaking research system, and its high levels of risk versus reward.
Sadly, the merging of multiplayer with singleplayer in Minecraft 1.3 brought an end to TC2, and for many months, we had to do without Azanor's wonderful mod. Then, during the long period of Minecraft 1.4.5, after a long and anticipated wait, we were given ThaumCraft 3. It is constantly growing better and better, and will soon surpass the greatness of its predecessor, if it hasn't already.
And, as if that were not enough, I aim to help improve the glory of this wonderful mod, by adding more features and intercompatibilities with the other wonderful mods out there for you and all the other Thaumaturgists out there.
Don't have TC3 already? DOWNLOAD IT!
Essentia Everything Add-on
This addon has two major features. Firstly, it automatically adds support for all ores, nuggets, ingots, and dusts registered with Forge's Ore Dictionary. Secondly, it adds the ability to add or adjust aspects for just about anything, vanilla or modded. It comes with partial fully-configurable mod support (including ExtraBiomes, Ars Magica, Metallurgy 2, and Factorization) and you can add your own files however you wish.
Download: Version 2.3.2b (current, for 1.4.7) Mediafire Download | Source Code
Version 2.3.2c (beta, for 1.5.1) Mediafire Download | Preconfigured Aspect Files
Version 2.3.2a: Mediafire Download
Version 2.3.1: Mediafire Download
Version 2.3.0: http://www.mediafire...lapy7bcn113l3y7
Version 2.2.0: http://www.mediafire...4dh6yenlnyzctdj
Version 2.1.1: http://www.mediafire...4c50wrdoqm8736c
Version 2.1.0: http://www.mediafire...gh6g9xerbmqbiix
Version 2.1.0 SOURCE: http://www.mediafire...yef599zg434auez
Installation: Install it in the /mods folder, the same as you did for ThaumCraft 3.
Usage: The mod will generate a subfolder of the /config directory in your .minecraft folder, "KBI ThaumCraft3 Addon". Inside it, it will generate several default configuration files for mod support. You can also add however many files you wish, as long as you end them with .txt or .cfg. Here's an example:
I:"Number of Values"=8 S:Value1=Red Rock; ROCK; 2 S:Value2=Tiny Cactus; WEAPON; 1; PLANT; 2 S:Value3=Root; WOOD; 1 S:Value4=Toad Stool; Fungus; 4 S:Value5=itemDye:4; Messis; 2 S:Value6=BROWN GRASS; WIND; 1; PLANT; 1 S:Value7=8973:14; plant; 1 S:Value8=ingotSteel; Metallum; 10
Adjust the Number of Values to however many you need. Then, add the item's name or ID, followed by the aspects you wish to add, in one of the following formats:
"Proper Name; Aspect 1 Proper Name; Aspect 1 Amount; Aspect 2 Proper Name; Aspect 2 Amount"
"inGameCodeName; Aspect 1 English Name; Aspect 1 Amount; Aspect 2 Proper Name; Aspect 2 Amount"
"ItemID:Metadata; Aspect 1 PRoPer NAme; Aspect 1 Amount; Aspect 2 ENgLISh NAmE; Aspect 2 Amount"
"inGameCodeName:Metadata; Aspect 1 EnGliSh NaMe; Aspect 1 Amount; Aspect 2 PrOpEr NaMe; Aspect 2 Amount"
It should support up to 5 aspects per item. If you add any more than that, it may not read any of the Aspects.
INCOMPATIBILITIES: Crash has been resolved with Ars Magica; they should work together fine now. It may not work for certain RedPower 2 items or blocks because Eloraam hardcoded it to cause a crash in certain instances.
There appears to be a bug when installed alongside both RedPower 2 and Universal Electricity. This does not always happen, and seems to involve at least one other unknown mod, perhaps Wireless Redstone and/or Metallurgy. I am looking into this but can't replicate it on my setup.
There is also a potential incompatibility with Divine RPG, which appears to involve either me or them using Mod.Instance incorrectly. And if it's me, I can't see how.
A recent update to Magical Crops: Beta has stopped Essences from working properly. Until I can work out a fix for this, you'll have to craft them into blocks or bricks to get aspects.
BUG REPORTS: Whenever you're reporting a bug/crash, make sure to post, inside spoiler tags, any aspect configuration file that you have modified, as well as your ForgeLog.
Also, read these fixes!
I added aspect values to an item but it doesn't have any in my game! HALP!
There are a number of things you might have done wrong...
Did you spell all your aspects and item names correctly? Go in-game to check and make sure you've spelled everything right. While names are not case-sensitive, Caras is not Curus is not Corosus is not Carus. If all else fails, use Not Enough Items to find the proper item ID and metadata for the item, and use that instead. If that works and the correctly-spelled proper name does not, post here, because it's probably an actual bug.
Did you add a semicolon after the last aspect value, or leave one out? It doesn't like this, and will refuse to work at all if you do that.
Did you add too many aspects? It's not recommended to add more than 4 aspects to an item, and anything over 5 will absolutely not work. At all. So don't do it!
DEFAULT COMPATIBILITIES: These are the mods I have added default configuration for.
Metallurgy 2: Complete (as of Essentia v2.3.2)
ExtraBiomes XL: Complete (as of EBXL 3.8.0)
Magical Crops: Complete (as of Essentia v2.2.0). In v2.1.1 and previous, items with colons in their names could not be added by proper name.
Magical Crops Beta: Nearly Complete (as of Essentia v2.3.2) -- I haven't bothered with seeds or the Mystical Hoe.
Ars Magica: Nearly Complete. Essences, dusts, flowers, and nearly all Spells have Aspects. Runes, parchment, and blocks have automatic aspects from TC3.
DupleCraft: Complete (as of Essentia v2.3.0)
EquivalentExchange 3: Complete (as of Essentia v2.3.0). Found in "MiniMods.cfg".
Soul Shards: Nearly Complete. Everything but the Shards themselves have aspects.
Mo' Creatures: Nearly Complete (as of Essentia 2.3.1). I don't play with Mo' Creatures anymore myself, but this addon has support for nearly 70 of its items.
MineChem: Partial (as of Essentia v2.3.2). All elements have aspects.
Factorization: Partial. Diamond Shards, Dark Iron, Sludge, Sulfuric Acid, Fans, Craftpacket Makers and Craftpacket Stampers, Barrels, and all the processed ore stuff. Most other things have automatic aspects from TC3.
RedPower 2: Partial. Due to some... unfriendly code on RP2's end, not all items can be given default aspects, and I don't know the mod enough to give everything else aspects. Still, Marble, Basalt, and Red and Blue ingots should have aspects.
BuildCraft: Partial. Oil, Fuel, and Tanks are all I mess with. If you want to work on a more complete version, go right ahead
MystCraft: Partial. Crystals and Linking Books are given aspects, but because MystCraft has non-Forge roots, Descriptive Books and Writing Desks don't like being found by name.
Industrial-Craft 2: Partial, via OreDictionary. Really, all I add aspects to is Uranium.
RailCraft: Partial, via OreDictionary. Charcoal and Obsidian dust, Coke, and Saltpeter are really all I add.
Forestry: Partial, via OreDictionary. Peat, Ash, Apatite, and a few other things are all I add.
WANTED COMPATIBILITIES: If you feel like sitting down and being a mad Thaumaturgist, scribbling down aspects for more items, here's some mods that I would like aspects for but haven't gotten around to yet!

2.3.2b -> 2.3.2c
Changed: For Minecraft version 1.5.1 and up.
Changed: All prewritten configs except OreDictionary support were removed from the code and must be downloaded separately because my disabling option was not working properly.
2.3.2a -> 2.3.2b
Changed:All prewritten configs are disabled by default to help stop unnecessary load times. They will have to be enabled manually from this point on, but older configs will remain on by default unless deleted
Updated: Magical Crops Beta support (Colored essence names)
Note: You will need to delete the Magical Crops Beta config file for the changes to take effect.
2.3.1 -> 2.3.2
Added: MineChem support, thanks to Kharcha
Added: Another Ars Magica config file, for spells, thanks to JohnBurt3rd
Added: Support for Magical Crops - Beta
Added: Fall-backs for ThaumCraft 3's OreDictionary aspect registration
Added: Updated Source Code download
Changed: Metallurgy 2 has its own config file instead of OreDictionary, thanks to additional items by Luke616
Note: You may want to delete your OreDictionary.cfg file when updating.
2.3.0 -> 2.3.1:
Fixed: OreDictionary support. 2.3.0 (possibly earlier) broke EVERYTHING! D:
Fixed: Calling the 'flight' aspect Volitio instead of Volito
Added: Mo' Creatures support, thanks to Theutus
2.2.0 -> 2.3.0:
Added: Support for ThaumCraft 3.0.3's new Tempus aspect
Added: Ability to use inGameCodeName:metadata format for item searching
Added: Support for EquivalentExchange 3, thanks to JohnBurt3rd
Added: Partial support for Ars Magica, thanks to JohnBurt3rd
Added: Support for DupleCraft, thanks to SnatchNL
Added: Configuration option to disable certain files
Added: Configuration option to disable automatic oreDictionary aspects
Fixed: Possible accidental oreDictionary override for Glowstone, Gunpowder, and Nikolite
Note: This version will still work with ThaumCraft 3.0.2, but you will not be able to add the Tempus aspect to anything.
2.1.1 -> 2.2.0:
Fixed: 5 or more aspects causing a crash.
Fixed: Adding a ; at the end of a line, or missing one inside the line, causing a crash.
Fixed: Having a : in an item name causing a crash.
Fixed: The above bug meaning Magic Essence from Magical Crops was unable to have aspects. Delete the Aspect configuration file for it after updating the addon to get the new working values.
2.1.0 -> 2.1.1:
Fixed: Accidentally replacing redstone dust's aspects.
Fixed: Factorization's number of items value being set at 10 instead of the correct 30, and missing a space in Diamond Shards.
Added: Support for the SoulShards mod. Soul Shards themselves will not have aspects, because of how they use metadata, but everything else does.
Pre-2.1.0: These were just pre-releases handed out in the ThaumCraft 3 thread. Problems included failure to find items by name if they weren't metadata 0, failure to find most mod items by proper name, and a crash with Ars Magica.

LICENSING: You're free to do whatever the heck you want with my code or my mod. Put it in a modpack, distribute it with your server, whatever, as long as you do not claim it as your own work. A mention of my name would be preferred. Note that this does not apply to ThaumCraft 3 itself, which I have no control over and claim no rights to. Read Azanor's license in the TC3 thread.
Apr 8, 2013Shooter__Andy posted a message on Harken Scythe: Reap -What- You Sow *Biomass Blocks and Adjustments*[V2.1.6 UPD: MAY 14]Hm. How about an alternative use for Necronomicon? Say, for instance, that I don't need a temporary mob guardian, would it be possible to use Necronomicon to create the spectral displays of the mobs you've slain? Ones that don't fight for you, but don't disappear either, sort of like a trophy. Because at late game (which is when you can get 150 diamonds) you probably won't need a spectral skeleton or whatever to protect you.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Just an idea.

But if Azanor did that it would basically be a dumbed down version of the ender chest.
Why not make it so it can move to some extent? Imagine it hopping around like a slime while doing the OM NOM animation. In my head at least it looks amazing.

Any plan to change the function of the hungry chest now that the same mechanic can be more easily accomplished by a vanilla chest and hopper?
the hungry chest is cooler though. i mean cmon, watching that thing gobble up the items is pretty awesome. there could be some added mechanic to it, like a warded chest. same mechanic, that applies to the doors and blocks.
can only be removed or opened by the one who placed it, or someone with a key.

Double awesome bonus points for adding different wands for different bees, so one can have a normal ANGRY BEE WHICH STINGS AND REALLY HURTS, or BEES WHICH LIGHT MY FOES ON FIRE, bees with FRICKIN' LAZER BEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEADS(magic powered laser beams, mind you), and the ever popular BEES WHICH STING A WHOLE LOT AND THEIR VENOM IS ACID AND RUINS YOUR ARMOR QUICKER, great during "Hero Season".
Nov 25, 2010I like to compile a lot of stuff from various texture packs in order to create my own conglomeration of stuff I like. I'm tired of using armor on my character skin if it just covers me in a big, ugly chunk of whatever material I make it out of, so I'm looking for new textures for it. Does anyone have any good retextures they'd like to share?Posted in: Mods Discussion
