posted a message on Protect complete worlds from other players
    Quote from Demodude123

Ok so me and my friends are playing on a server which I am hosting with multiworld where everyone gets their own custom infinitely generated flat world to build on, however I want something that does not only protect just a region of a world but complete worlds so none of my friends can be griefed by others on the server. I know there are lots of region protectors but I know of none working plugins that actually allow complete world protection. If anyone knows of a mod or plugin that completes this objective of mine then I would greatly appreciate it.

That is going to take up A LOT of ram, literally a whole world for every player? I like the idea though, good job on being creative and best of luck to you.

Thought i'd lighten things up and give us something to talk about while we wait for the stable build of 1.3.1!

Basically just tell your story of the worst thing or the funniest thing you've ever done as a server admin!

One of the worst things I've ever done, was when we had a good 40 people on I was messing around (when enderdragon came out) and spawned one and the /butcher would not kill him so he flew to spawn and started destroying it! I gave every player a bow and arrow and they fought him off with me and the other admin and it actually turned out to be a really exciting event...we actually had a player even film it here =D

I was just curious if there were any other star trek fans out there?

Talk about all the different series or anything related to star trek!

My personal two favorite series are TNG and OS.

posted a message on Minecraft Server Distribution Over Multiple Computers...?
Honestly, if you are wanting to host a server reliably and well you are going to need to fork out money. Do this, ask all the people that play on the server if they can just chip in 3-5$ a month (That's a soda and a bag of chips) and help buy a host for the server....if you are actually friends with these people they wont care and that type of money is nothing. If 3-5$ is hard to come by then you guys have bigger problems on your hands than just minecraft hosting.

I'm hoping anywhere from 30 to 80 players

30-80 players anywhere between 3000x3000 or 5000x5000 will be fine.

posted a message on How do I check the last IP an account connected on?
    Quote from AmberK

Most server consoles (especially when run in screen) won't support this.

If this is something you're consistantly wanting to check, then a plugin that logs IP addresses is probably for you :P

I always forget everyone doesn't use linux to view their console <_>

posted a message on When will CraftBukkit for 1.3 be released? The Answer!
"With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!"

posted a message on use url as server address
If you are wanting to host a reliable server with something easy to remember I would suggest just registering a domain name that can be memorized easily and is used with preferably .net. Example is mine Ironspire.net, easy to memorize and not too long and complicated. You can later connect your bought domain with your server!

do you not have ftp access to the server?
the server.log file will have all the info in it you want

That is probably the best way to check, the second best is to run up your console through the SSH and manually scroll up to it (=

When i go on it it wont let me.

    Plese help me

Craftbukkit hasn't released a fully functional build yet for 1.3.1, revert back to your old version before 1.3.1 and you should be able to get on. You can also look to any questions about when the bukkit 1.3.1 will be released here.

    Quote from Legoasaurus

No, no, I admit that this isn't the most accurate way to assess maturity by far. I'm simply trying to supply something better, even if only marginally so.

What if someone doesn't speak English all that well? Some of my best players on my server aren't very good at speaking English but are very mature and follow the rules.

    I rate this a 6/10

"The first RB we promote following a Minecraft update has no testing whatsoever. It simply compiles and runs. We do this because people complain we take too long to release something and we hope it shows people how much work goes into making sure the builds we release don't completely corrupt your world or worse. If people want to run the untested build, by all means, they can. However, they will not get support for it - it is essentially a pre-alpha build (not even a developer build) that has been rebranded as a Recommended Build so people that want to *really* be on the edge can."
