    I had slightly better luck when I placed the corners (for a total of 32 bookshelves) but it could be wishful thinking.

    I also have the first few enchantments figured out (the numbers are the internal numbers in the code):

    0: Protection [EDIT: doh! I missed this - got it from the wiki]
    1: Fire Protection
    2: Feather Falling
    3: Blast Protection
    4: Projectile Protection
    5: Respiration
    6: Aqua Affinity
    7-15: <Nothing>
    16: Sharpness
    17: Smite
    18: Bane of Anthropods
    19: Knockback
    20: Fire Aspect
    21: Looting

    32: Efficiency
    33: Silk Touch
    34: Unbreaking
    35: Fortune

    1-6 seem to be armor, 16-21 weapons
    I'm guessing there are more at 32 for the digging tools but I haven't tried it yet (and I have to run).

    I have a very hacked sword with 12 level V enchantments on it :smile.gif:

    But legit from the table, 3 is the most I've seen at levels (V, II, II):

    49 water dry elder = Sharpness V, Knockback II, Fire Aspect II

    After many many tries I got a level 50 enchant, but it's weaker than a level 49 enchant.

    My findings so far...


    Using 32 Bookcases (all the way around the Enchanting table, on-level and one-level higher)

    Book cases have to be 1 square away (closer in or further out are ignored, I'm fairly sure)

    I tested with and without the corners and it DOES seems to make a difference - hard to be certain

    Bookcases below or above 1 level up did not seem to make a difference

    Sword:
    42 fire sphere cold = Sharpness IV
    50 humanoid fire sphere hot = Sharpness IV, Fire Aspect II, Knockback II
    49 water dry elder = Sharpness V, Knockback II, Fire Aspect II

    Pick:
    44 ball water towards undead = Efficiency IV
    43 light beast hot = Fortune III, Efficiency IV

    I generated the world with 1.9p3 and I don't see one anywhere near -375/1000 either. I might roll back to 1.8.1 and regenerate it and see. Maybe the stronghold changes have caused them to spawn in different locations?

    For my 1.8 world I picked first 9 digits of PI - it was pretty boring around the spawn but I stuck with it. I've now located two Strongholds, dozens of dungeons, masses of mine tunnels, etc. Documented a few of the highlights for you here.
