posted a message on Smaller heads for baby animals
    Quote from Icarus1991

Oh, I know creepers are not realistic, probably because they were created by a coding error gone wrong with the pigs. () although, I'm not too fond of creepers, as they can be incredible greifers.

The problem I have with the over sized heads on baby animals, is not the fact that it's not realistic, it's the fact that they look out of place. They can still be cute if they are shrunken down, couldn't they? Maybe if they shrunk them a liiiiitle? Come on, you've got to admit they look a BIT silly.

I'm sorry, friend, but you're in the Minecraft Forums, where most people think The End was a worth while addition, and that the Testificats are not a horrible abominations. Abandon all taste and sense, yee who enter here.

Though in all honesty, I agree. It doesn't look cute, it looks like someone got lazy.

posted a message on Emerald Blocks on the Way?
You know, It's kind of sad that people are comparing this to the Halloween update. I actualy think that it's much more comparable to the Adventure update, in which it was as much of a collosal dissapointment. Emeralds are just junk items that have no use beyond a half-baked trading system with what amount to mobs that have no use, look hideous, and have no redeaming qualities beyond the whole "Yay villigers!" and "Derr, they look like Squidward! Dimondz for you!" crowd. Maybe they should focus on other aspects of the game. You know, like combat? Make it feel like you're swinging a sword, and not just a picture of a sword. Or actualy HAVE an adventure mode, but hey, what do I know? I'm sure a number of you might call me a "whiner" just for saying I don't like this update. Knowing the track record of this comunity, I won't be dissapointed.

posted a message on Snapshot 12w21a Available for Testing
I have quite a bit to say...

First, the good: Despensers being able to use buckets is a nice improvment, as well as the ability to stack buckets. That is honestly helpfull. The sandstone steps and the temples are also nice, giving a bit more character and myth to this world.

The Bad: Trading. Oh, it's not the emeralds, although it seems rather short sided to add a new ore which has only one perpose, let alone such a useless one. Oh, I can hear you know: "Trading's not useless! It makes it easier to get stuff! And It actualy give the Testificats a use!" Uh huh... Well then, allow me to dissagree. First of all, you have to find the emeralds first, which are underground. I'de rather mine for something useful, rather then looking for emeralds. You might also tell me that I can trade my things to the villagers to get emeralds. I could, but quite frankly, i'm more inclined to kill every one of them I see, burn down their villages and desecrate the ashes, but that's something else entirely.

The Ugly: Enderchest. Oh, I won't deny their use in single player, but then there's Jeb's thought that enderschest need a weakness. A flaw. They ALL share the same invintory for everyone in the server on SMP. Jeb thinks this is just peachy. Um... Jeb? That's the wrong kind of flaw. That's an UTTER design flaw! It maks enderchest USELESS in SMP. They're opened to being griefed. That's not good design. Further, if what I hear is right, then I don't want SSP and SMP to be the same thing. That won't work one bit.

    Where do I begin...?

Most things in the "final release," still feel like they're in the testing faze.

The lack of an "Adventure mode," bothers me, and don't say "Adventure and Survival is the same thing," because it's not.

    Swamp Biome blends poorly.

Baby animals are lazy and uninspired.

Animal breeding require almost no effort.

Ender Realm seems pointless. It still seems like something a bunch of morons kept asking for because they wanted "Moar relms!"

The Ender Dragon would have been nice for adventure mode, not survival.

Enchanting shouldn't be random. At least, for an enchanting table made by you. Or, better yet, enchanting should be obscured until after you try it, but I digress.

EXP shouldn't be used for enchanting. There should be reagents for that.

    Liquid physics are broken.

Lack of fruit trees. Not a big one, but you'd think that would have been added by now.

Bugs and problems that still haven't been fixed or addressed. (Wood slabs.)

posted a message on Baby Animals Are Ashamed Models
I agree with the OP. It's not just that I find the current baby animals look like they have some kind of horrible birth defect, but it also looks lazy. They're not cute, they're not fine the way the are. When the guy who makes the game can't do as good or better then a mod, what the heck are we paying him our money for? I'm really starting to get disappointed with Notch lately.

posted a message on Helpful Hints: The Science Behind Enchanting
I can't stand this enchantment system. The randomness alone kills it for me. Hell, I can't believe Notch thinks Minecraft needs to be a rouge like. I hate loosing all my items if I die. And loosing an entire world? Something you've worked hard on? That's just complete $#!%. Why can't he get it through his mind?

posted a message on Different Death
While I agree with the choice to lower the penalty of death(In particular that this would help greatly on adventure maps), your idea just seems a bit... asinine. Why not just have it so that when you die, you don't loose your inventory? Sure, it can be exploited, though there can be some deterrents, like everything you have loosing half their durability or even loosing all the EXP you have for the next level. I think that could work quite well.

posted a message on 1.9 Updates: Possible Potions, Exciting Enchantments
    Quote from Sacheverell

Jeb has been discussing potions quite a bit lately - it seemed in the early stages of planning that potions would be brewed using a cauldron. However, recent comments strongly suggest that the cauldron is being replaced with a brewing stand (seen above).

In addition - Notch strongly hinted at an upcoming enchantment system, complete with an enchanting table or similar object (seen below). While he did confirm that it would cost Experience Points, have a 3-tier system and be "totally random", any other information on the topic has been somewhat cryptic.

With all the recent monster, item and biome additions to the game, one thing is for certain - 1.9 will be a feature-packed release!

First off, I may have to see how the potion stand works myself, but I'm much more in favor of the cauldron. Still, I like the aesthetic of the rack, and the idea itself might work, maybe as a first level alchemy station.

Next, the enchanting. The only problem I really have is that it cost EXP. I would like to hope that rather then in being ^&%$-all random, that it's only random when you're trying to LEARN spells. As you figure out enchantments, you can then use them again as needed.

    Quote from Darinth

Well, yes. You are indeed supposed to make a giant line of allocators to act as a conveyor belt. I'm not generally opposed to the idea of conveyor belts, they would be cool. At the moment, however, we don't even have allocators in vanilla, which are IMO far more useful and important to see implemented and once they get implemented there are many other things I'd rather see implemented. It's about priorities, and while this would be cool it's just not IMO worth putting the effort in to when there are so many other cooler and more useful things that I think could be implemented. :sad.gif:

Okay, maybe I got a little carried away. As you can tell, I do support the allocator. After some time sitting on it and reading this post, yeah, I see your point(Besides the idea of using allocators all lined up. Even then, there's the problem of angles.) Still, like you said, it's your opinion of what's a priority and such. Me? I wouldn't mind getting both at the same time. But that' just me.

I've seen nothing suggested in this thread that couldn't be accomplished with the allocator mod which I am *much* more in favor of seeing implemented then this.

God, you people have no imagination. You're supposed to make a giant line of allocators to act as conveyor belt? Further more, I'm sick of the complaint "It's too modern" (Though granted, the auto work bench I can see). There's is no reason NOT to have this, at least with some alterations.
