posted a message on Minecraft isn't fun anymore.

The problem is that the game is updated at an absolute snails-pace. One single group of modders can put out more new mobs and behavior packs in two months than the the actual developers can do in two years. I don't know what's going on over there at Mojang, but there really is no excuse for one of (if not the) best-selling game of all time to still be getting such poor update times.

When Hytale eventually comes out, Minecraft is going to get brutally murdered so swiftly that the devs are never going to know what hit them. Hytale is positioning itself to be better than Minecraft in every single way. Modability, graphics, basegame content, dynamic sound design, far more options for minigame building (being able to take control of ANY creature in the game just by itself dwarfs anything Minecraft ever has and probably ever will do), and who knows what else.

I don't know if it's only realms that have backup saves available, but you could try loading a backup save to before you killed the dragon, and you can prepare for that outcome the next time by putting blocks over the portal while the dragon is dying.

posted a message on Modern texture pack

Have you tried going into the world settings and choosing a texture pack for it? I swear there used to be a button for forcing texture packs, and even people that didn't have them could download the required files to see the textures while they were in the world, but I can't find it now.

Try loading the textures you want in the world settings. If it works the way I think it does, everyone should get a prompt to download the textures at least the first time they join it.

posted a message on How far away does a villager need to be to not claim a work station!?

Yeah, villagers are almost completely broken as of the last couple of patches. You used to be able to sync up their workstation with their bed and then lock them in a stall like you're supposed to be able to. Now even if they're standing directly on top of their workstation they can manage to fail to path to it, surrender it, and claim a new one, meaning none of them can trade. The ONLY way to keep them functional is to let them freeroam in their respective buildings so they can pathfind to whatever station they claim.

Until further notice, recruiting for this Realm is closed. We have a decent number of persistent players, and we're also having some problems with people taking things that don't belong to them. We would collectively prefer to avoid the risk of adding anyone new for a while.

posted a message on Reset Nether button likely to return?

Yes, there are ways to cover large numbers of blocks fairly quickly, but none of those ways are anywhere near as effective in the Nether, and especially for older worlds, we could be talking upwards of 20,000 blocks just to START seeing new things. That's not a realistic expectation for the developers to have for the playerbases of these worlds. We shouldn't be basically forced to forfeit all of our work and world history to start over for new content, or otherwise face potentially hours' worth of extra travel per trip.

posted a message on Reset Nether button likely to return?

I'm on an older realm on Bedrock Edition, and we all knew the Nether Update was next when it was made. As a result, we explored the Nether just enough to find the first fortress, and it is a rule on the realm that NOBODY is allowed to explore more of the Nether, so that when the new update arrives, we won't have to travel thousands of blocks just to start seeing the new content.

I don't foresee us not getting the Reset Nether button back, because the update will screw over literally every existing world if it doesn't, but it sure would be nice for a developer confirmation that the feature will return. They gave us the button on the previous versions of Minecraft for much smaller additions to the Nether.

We've added another 6 players at this point, and there is now a rulebook in the hub village. There are now at least 7 committed players and several that pop in from time to time.

I've added at least 5 new people today, and several a couple days before that. If most of these players stick around, we're looking at a fairly big population boom, so anyone that's interested in starting now and not being too far behind should let me know soon.

posted a message on Xbox/PC Bedrock Realm, Hard, Adults Only

I am a member of a realm that is picking up steam and now has 5 or 6 people with varying levels of activity, and we're looking to round up some more people to add some more consistent activity. Right now I'm the only person with a large build (although at least one person is making an earnest effort to catch up), but when the nether update drops I expect activity to pick up even further.

I have a village with over 40 villagers (probably closer to 50) in it, and we have librarians covering almost all of the big books including mending. We also have a tool smith, weapon smith and armor smith for everything you can make out of diamond, so you can get endgame gear, enchantments and all, very quickly.

We have covered a very large area in the End and can distribute a couple of shulker boxes to each new server member, so long as they don't just show up a couple times then never log on again, and have shown they are capable of not dying frequently and risking losing it. We have a direct route to the Nether Fortress, and are trying to not load any more chunks in the Nether to try to preserve as much of it as possible for the Nether Update in case they don't give us the Reset Nether button back. We don't want to have to travel thousands of blocks in the Nether just to get the new content when it finally arrives.

This is a realm with only generally quiet and mature adult players. We don't mind bringing people in that have more outgoing personalities, but just be wary that consistently loud people (or people that don't have good mic etiquette, such as leaving a mic unmuted while a bunch of noise is happening in your house) will eventually be removed.

We would prefer only Xbox players, but we will accept anyone that fits in. The basic rules of any realm apply: No griefing, pranking, duping, stealing, build-encroaching or other destructive or inconsiderate behavior will be tolerated. We've already had to remove one idiot that went into the first house he saw and started tearing up and stealing stuff and claimed he "got lost", even after I gave him the coordinates for the resource hub.

    Special Rules:

    The Nether Rule:

Do not explore the nether. If you need help finding the fortress so you can collect blocks/skulls/whatever, let someone else know so we can guide you there without loading any new chunks.

    The Ranger Rule:

Be reasonable and respectful when you collect resources. If you are going to mine a 100x100 area in a desert of all sand and sandstone, if it is anywhere near the hub or anyone else, you'd better put a band-aid layer on the top so it's not an eyesore. We don't care so much if it's 5,000 blocks away from everyone. The same goes for simpler things like mining out trees and leaving ugly block ladders everywhere. Preserve your environment as much as possible.

    The Lag Rule:

Nobody is allowed to build or compile things that will cause massive amounts of lag to the server. This includes but is not limited to absurd amounts of mobs, large automatic overkill redstone machines, and color-strobing beacons.

posted a message on We need some kind of Roomba pet

That just means you aren't a heavy miner, or don't do anything with concrete. Having portable pets that can constantly vacuum up drops around you could be useful for mining literally anything or picking up drops from mobs, while also having the utility of a donkey/llama that will move with you so you don't have to stop to get stuff out of it or make another trip.

Basically, the short of it is a functional donkey/llama with a double-chest inventory in addition to hopper functionality, while being more compact and more intuitive than either of those mobs.

Shulker boxes are basically backpacks already. That doesn't address the issue I'm talking about where your inventory would fill up, then you'd have to place the shulker box, unload into it, then go back and scoop everything else up that you left behind you. My roomba pet idea would make it so that you would be able to go a significantly longer time digging without stopping at all, because your Mobile Chest Squadron would be sucking it all up for you.

We basically just need more useful pets anyway. Dogs absolutely suck, cats are quite useless, parrots are both useless and far too annoying, horses are completely invalidated by Elytra, donkeys have only a niche use, and llamas are just doofy-looking worse donkeys.

posted a message on I absolutely despise the new Minecraft music. How can I disable it?

The music in this game is so terrible that I don't know why anyone ever leaves it on. It was good for maybe an hour of gameplay, and then afterward it's just perma-snooze.
