Took them long enough to add the switch when they said it was going to be one of the joined editions. It fell WAY behind.

If this leads to being able to have a pet turtle, I'm for it. Heck, I'm for any new ocean mob that makes any kind of sense.

So instead of giving us all 4, they're making us choose only one. Yeah, that's a spectacular decision.
A is the one I want to see the most. It looks like some kind of alien wallhugging trapflower.
B looks like a bat, which we already have, so I don't have any clue where this thing would go.
C is a boring-looking box.
D looks like a blaze that brought his floating spires in on himself for an armor-plate dress.
Instead of doing this "1 out of 4" thing, doing a massive overhaul to the game's oceans (which take up an ENORMOUS amount of space) would have been a much better focus. Even if the oceans in Minecraft weren't pathetically barren of anything whatsoever, they take up such a gigantic portion of in-game worlds that it's honestly inexcusable that they STILL apparently are not focusing on updating it. I feel like literally anyone else could be doing a better job getting this creative team's priorities straight.

"A whole host of new content for Marketplace"
Ends up just being a few lousy skin packs.

I know how to use a blur tool, so I could definitely at least do everything this guy is that we've seen so far.

Either this new pixel artist is a complete joke, or the developers are being too constricting in their tasks for him. Literally all of the textures we've seen so far are carbon-copies of what we already have with more blur on them, or textures that are magnitudes too busy to make any sort of sense or look good.

......That's literally my point. Are you unaware that you agree with me?

Honestly, whether these new textures are better or worse than they currently are for default really doesn't matter much at all. How many people actually still use default textures? Literally almost every texture pack ever released (on console) is better than default anyway, and java has access to (I'm assuming) hundreds of user-made texture packs that blow default out of the water completely.

For anyone on every platform other than the currently very crappy Win10/Pocket Edition: No, there is nothing new here. Hopefully this saves you time.

I'm frankly just mentally radiant that everyone stupid enough to continue supporting Sony after all the ludicrous things they've been a part of is getting shafted by this.
That'll learn ya.

Some things also take a lot more work and time to do. Colored beds are literally loading the texture for the default bed, throwing a color filter on it, and assigning it a different ID.
The fact it took Minecraft THIS LONG to do such a SIMPLE, QUICK TASK says a lot about how much they care about adding new stuff to the game. Their work speed is pathetic.

It took them this long to introduce colored beds?
This is ridiculous.

I would call that build "Sworld". It has a very swirly aesthetic.

All of this new stuff for the oceans will FINALLY make them not a giant blue waste of space.
I'm actually not looking forward to the change to water physics though. If water flows through signs too, it will ruin some water elevator designs among other things.

In the time it took you to make this topic, you could have just googled it.
Create 4 ender crystals and put them on each broad side of the portal to the overworld where the dragon egg spawns.

When I was saying 2 of the 5, I had completely forgotten about the triceratops. Still sucks only 2 can be truly tamed where they follow you/stay put though.
0
And all of this is happening AFTER the update where they said they squashed 3000(!) bugs.

I tried to feed the Pteronodons raw fish, raw salmon, and cooked fish, and none of them gave me the option to feed.

So the claw is for potions of leaping only then. Thanks for the info.
I tried feeding a Pteranodon fish and it wouldn't give me the option. Does it have to be a specific fish? Does this result in taming it?
It's disappointing that it appears you really can only ride 2 of the 5 big dinosaurs. I was hoping you could at least ride the Brontosaurus. At least they're good for milk and meat...

Post reasons in this thread about why this version is inferior compared to the Xbox One Edition. I have several off the top of my head:
Interfaces. Why do we have to put up with this god-awful UI? The crafting interfaces alone are tremendously horrible. On the Xbox One edition, I very rarely didn't know exactly where to find something, but on this edition I have to use the search bar for everything that's not a tool, piece of armor, or a few other commonly-used items because the interface is just a massive block of junk with all of the game's craftables thrown into a pathetic 4 tabs. That's inexcusable. Then you have the option to change the interface cursor sensitivity removed, so we have this super-slow cursor unless you use the D-Pad to use the cursor on a gridsnap basis, which is very annoying for someone who has used the Xbox One Edition's free-flying cursor with relatively high sensitivity to rapidly zip through the menus for years. Why couldn't they just have copied the Xbox One Edition's interfaces, or at least given those to us as an option?
Enchanting: In the Xbox One version, when you put a bunch of different items in the enchanting table to check what you could get, every single item had its own table. Now in this version, every single tool and piece of armor of the same material class you put in have the same loot table until you enchant something to reset it. This leads to constantly having GARBAGE options on the table even if you have a full unenchanted set of tools and armor lined up.
Farming: Everything in this edition grows INCREDIBLY slowly. I don't need to elaborate further.
Villager Trading: In the Xbox One edition, trading with a villager always gave exp and would always reset their entire set of trades when they got a reset. In this version, when you get them to do a reset it only ever resets one of their trades at a time, leading to the player being required to buy an absolutely massive amount of worthless garbage to get back to the trades they want, making the trading almost 100% useless, and my farmer villager is not granting me exp unless I give him emeralds for apples.
Kicking: You can no longer AFK in a world to have your crops grow or active automated machines running for more than 10 minutes without getting kicked from a world for inactivity. This might just be something that applies to Realms, but it needs to be a setting that can be disabled for Realms that don't need to worry about active player count.

I'm growing quite frustrated trying to figure out everything that the Dinosaur Survival add-on comes with. So far I have no answer for the following:
What does a Velociraptor Claw do? I can't find a single use for it. No crafting recipes, not usable in banners, not a potion ingredient, not used to tame anything, nothing. I can't figure out if these things even have a purpose.
I can't figure out a way to tame Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Pteranodons, Brontosaurus, or Compsognathus. I'm assuming Dilosaurus (the Spitters) can't be tamed. When I try to feed a Compsognathus (my whole group calls them Compies), it will show the hearts like I tamed it and then it will immediately attack me if I take the food out of my hand. If I put two of them into love mode, they will breed and then all 3 of them will attack me regardless of whether I have food in my hand.
I refuse to believe someone would put so much work into an add-on and then make all but 2 of the dinosaurs in it unable to be truly tamed. I am frustrated that I can't find anything whatsoever on the internet about it either. Microsoft needs to start making it mandatory for all publishers of add-ons to provide complete documentation somewhere of everything they added in the modpack so people can at least know what they're getting.

The beta is simply not worth playing on right now. It just feels wrong to me, don't know how to explain it as I only played on it for 5 minutes.
First off, none of the skin and texture packs you've bought have been added to that version yet, so you have to play as Ugly Steve on Ugly Default textures, and the menus are a complete hassle to navigate right now.

Thanks for the in-depth reply, but that ultimately doesn't help me at all because I am a lowly console peasant, and will not have access or know-how to mod these dinosaurs into another world. I (and my group of friends I play MC with) are all also console players, and we have a world we've been building in for too long to start over (I have a beacon set up with over 200 blocks of emerald, for example).
With the way file-sharing/porting has been advertised by Microsoft, would I maybe be able to port the save over to my pc, figure out how to do that stuff you mentioned, then port it back and it would work on console?

Nobody has an answer for this? Can someone who has bought this particular DLC give me some info about it?
0
I don't know if this is the right forum to put this topic, but I don't see anywhere else it could go.
For the "Dinosaur Island" DLC on the marketplace, it says it's a "world". Does this mean if I want to have MC with dinosaurs, I HAVE to use this one world? It's not just dinosaurs spawning in the jungle biomes that could be used in any world?
If so, that is the single most disappointing news I've gotten for awhile.

I shouldn't have to lower my gamma for the entire game to accommodate the equivalent of a flashlight being beamed in my face.

Sorry (not) to burst your obnoxious little bubble, but the custom skins thing is for a marketplace only where you can only buy skin packs microsoft allows, not being able to design your own skins.

The Greek Mash-Up Pack is the best one of the Mash-Up Packs for me, but I can never really get to play it because the interface is so blinding that it gives me (and everyone else I ask about it) a headache and/or severe eyestrain within the first 20 minutes of using it.
Can the dev team please update the interface of this Mash-Up Pack to not be literally the brightest shade of white possible?
