I guess I have yet to realize how hard it is to get flint from gravel...I played the game on Peaceful setting for the first couple months, and amassed quite the stash of flint just by picking it up while mining for various ores. I have nearly two double-chests full'a dat sh1t. I've been finding some huge gravel quarries while exploring lately. In just ten minutes of mining one, I had 24 pieces of flint. I probably mined around 100 blocks to get that many pieces of flint. I don't see how I could be acquiring this item at a seemingly faster rate than a lot of the posters on here...

Thanks!!! That did it. I was putting the "%appdata%" in the search field after going to Start...that was a problem. Anyhow, I deleted bin like you said, then ran exe and it downloaded the files i needed. However, it did not fix the problem i am having. alphavespucci.exe is still not working properly. My maps are not updating in MBT. I explored a lot fo new terrain yesterday, file size of my world increased by 10mb, but the map stayed the same. I am 100% sure I was in undiscovered territory, too. This is becoming so frustrating that I'm considering taking a break for a month or two to see if Notch can fix this with an update or something. I am kinda out of ideas, so that seems to be the only one i can turn to at this point. If anyone can think of another possible fix, pls let me know. Thanks again all you MC superheroes!

Hi all: in the last two days (since the most recent update) I have been having major problems with MC. I have a nother post about alphavespucci.exe not working. I'm not sure if this is what is causing the game to freeze up on me every ten minutes, or if it is causing another problem...maybe the one I'm here to talk about. Since the update, the map viewer feature for MBT is not updating my maps anymore. I increased the size of my world's file by about 33% yesterday (from 23mb to 35mb) by exploring a large amount of undiscovered terrain. I am 100% sure I was in new terrain. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks!

I think that there is a problem that the troubleshooting advice in this forum does not fix for some people. I uninstalled Java and reinstalled - I updated my windows service packs - I made sure I had an up-to-date .Net thingy...lol. The only thing I can;t figure out how to do is make sure my GPU has the most current versionor something to that effect. I go to the links provided in this post and I have absolutely no idea what to do. I tried to have the NVIDIA website automatically detect, but it failed. I attempted to do it manually, but the drop-down options do not seem to contain anything that matches what is in my computer. I have an HP laptop, model # dv6-1235dx. I looked at my system specifications, but I do not see anything that matches what is on those websites for the GPU stuff. I am so frustrated with this! I returned from a very long journey last night (it took forever b/c the game kept freezing every ten minutes) with over twenty stacks of clay balls. I put all of them in furnaces in my large furnace room/forge, and then the game froze on me...MBT saved and I went back in to find all my clay balls GONE! Not a huge deal; just restored to previous save game and got em back, but this cost me a half an hour of game playing time. Can anyone help a less than computer-savvy guy like me fix this, so i can return to playing the greatest game ever - MINECRAFT!!!! POW!!!!!

I need clarification - keep in mind that I am not all that computer-savvy...anyhow, when you guys and gals call this phenomena (lol, funny to me, at least) "black-screen", what exactly do you mean? I believe I am having this problem, as well, but my screen never actually goes black. Mine just freezes up on me; usually while working in an unexplored part of the map, or when on Far for rendering distance. Anyhow, updating those two items did NOT fix my problem. I don't know what to do to fix this. I guess I'll just have to play five minutes at a time until Notch fixes it for me...lol.

Geez, I fng hate Vista!!! Who in their right mind ever thought it was an improvment on the previous O/S? Microsoft is all about money; occasionally, they release a great product, but Vista is an fng joke.

I have Vista...cannot find the necessary folder you are talking about - I type in %appdata% in search and it takes me there...I choose Users and choose my name - then, there is nothing referring to Minecraft, so I have absolutely no clue what to do next. Thanks for trying...I told you i'm not computer savvy.

This may alarm you, but I don't know what the "client" is. I've seen the movie with Tommy Lee Jones, and it's pretty good. Could you explain what that is and how to re-install it? Also, will it affect my current world when i re-install? thanks again!

strange b/c I have never installed a mod before - from what I've read, it is a mapping device, but it is the one that Minecraft uses to render maps/chunks. how would i go about uninstalling something that I've never even installed? Thanks again!

Hi, I am not very computer savvy, but I am good at following directions (remember, I can only follow directions I am able understand, lol). Anyhow, I am playing today with the new update installed, and every ten or so minutes, the game freezes up on me and I get the following message: alphavespucci.exe has stopped working. Can anyone help me get rid of this problem? Thank you!
