Gnerally its going to be a poster with information on it.

Ok, like an infographic. An interesting one in that case would be to compare the likelihood of dying in "popular" ways (shark attack, airplane crash, etc) to more mundane ways like falling vending machines or falling down the stairs.

tails has more detail, would assume its ever so slightly heavier

Those details are all in relief, they actually remove mass from that side of the coin, whereas the giant head is one solid piece of metal.

I guess I'm not really sure what you are calling a "project", most of the examples you gave are more like "problems" that can just be plugged into a calculator as part of homework. When you said project I was thinking about something a little more fun, like the Monty Hall problem or Boy or Girl paradox.

It actually is true it's not 50/50. IIRC, it's slightly skewed towards heads.

With a generic American quarter, at least.

It is skewed to whichever side begins face up, by about 1%.

You could show that the probability of getting a particular result from a coin toss is actually not 50/50. You could do a number of samples with the coin starting both heads/tails up (like 500 each) and then prove that the difference from the expected values is statistically significant.

I would, but I don't particularly want to give away the rest of my code, and I don't think there's any code already in there which would affect it. Are you really sure you need my code?

I think he wants to see exactly what is happening. Try taking a screenshot of what is happening right now and post that. I think I know what your problem with transparencykey is, but a screenshot would help.

Are you using a PNG as the background image?

posted a message on What's your least favorite type of signature?
There are really only two signatures I don't like.

The first is anything asking me to do something, particularly for someone else. No I won't give you rep, or thanks, or a subscription, or feed your dragons, or friend you, or any of that nonsense. All of those (except maybe the dragons, those needy s) are actions I am supposed to take of my own accord, not because you ask me.

The second is any of the generic non-personal signatures. If you have a lame joke, a quote of yourself, or anything intended to be really annoying like nested spoilers or lots of blank lines I will likely think a lot less of you.

The scroll bars don't annoy me so much; I'm pretty sure mine has one because of the changes to signature image sizes a while ago. They are inconvenient though.

Assuming they're still pointless in consumer-level PCs, why would they ever want to put them in phones? It'd certainly chew up a lot of battery.

Adding more cores is actually more battery friendly than increased clock speed. Reason being power consumption increases with the square of speed, but only linearly with core count. However it doesn't increase speed in applications that don't take advantage of the feature, it would improve multitasking to an extent.

My parents, mostly. They said, "oh, if we need to ship it back, we'll just pack it in another box." Of course, I was the one who was stupid enough to throw away the antistatic stuff.

If you're going to RMA it, ask if you can be sent the proper packaging for the card. Tell the customer service rep you can't find the original packaging and see if they will send you a box/bag. Otherwise I would just send it without a bag. If they can't reasonably send you the proper return packaging, they shouldn't have a problem with you not using the anti-static bag.

posted a message on No Function Keys On My Laptop/Help?
    Quote from SuperZac

On many laptops (including one of mine) the F keys are removed and replaced by an Fn key, which, on mine, brings up a GUI on the screen showing all of the F keys. They are then selected on screen.

OP, you should buy a cheap keyboard. If Minecraft doesn't even show you the option to change those keys, I doubt there is a way around that.

What laptop do you have? That sounds kind of cool and I've never seen that before.

A cursory scroll through Newegg shows that this is likely the best that will happen. Even then I don't know what PSU is in there, research shows anything from 200W to 350W is possible, but judging by Newegg feedback that shouldn't be a problem.

Nothing cheap enough comes in an antistatic bag.

And yes those are off amazon, not a computer store. ;)

I could link you tens of thousands of items from Digi-Key that come in antistatic bags.

TO be helpful Digi-Key sells anti-static bags for pretty cheap. I did a quick search to find some with a length of 18 inches:
