    Update:
After a long break I've added a couple new buildings! A train station and a random space filling building. Like my cathedral, the train station is modeled off a real building I saw in Rome. Thanks for the positive feedback already, love to hear your guys' opinions and/or suggestions!

    An underwater city, wow!
How is it not full of water?

I used a huge vacuum. But on a serious note, you have to fill up the whole area with blocks and then mine them out again and cover the whole thing with glass.

I was wondering why that tree looked familiar.
    Here ya go.

So did you build the rest after you built the underwater part?

Yeah. I started out with the underwater part and didn't plan to expand at all. Then it just kind of happened. The wall came first, followed by the town which just expanded outwards. I had planned to make it bigger, but lots of stuff happening IRL so not much time.
Here are some of the earliest pictures if you're interested :smile.gif:

I don't really like it. Not enough colors.

I have a personal vendetta against dyed wool! I find it looks tacky, but hey, that's just me :smile.gif:

may i ask how you placed leaves without disappearing?

very good city made, must taking a lots of time for making that underwater grass Oo :biggrin.gif:

The leaves have wood above them. Basically there's a layer of wood and a layer of leaves underneath them. As for the grass, I had to make a spiral staircase down to the bottom of the city. It's takes a long time to grow, because my light level is fairly low.

Thanks for the feedback guys :smile.gif:

I like GIMP more than PS; I think it is because the learning curve is actually easier. But I do know that GIMP is pretty much underpowered when it comes to image creation. GIMP is more geared to photo editing, rather than from scratch drawing.

If you really want to make something from scratch, I don't think Photoshop is terribly great either. Illustrator is more geared towards that.

    What texture pack is that?

It's based off dokucraft: light with just a couple of things changed :smile.gif:

Cael'Taan was the name of a world I started back in October 2010. I've had to move the original buildings to a new world due to bugs and errors. It's since become much more than I intended. You can check out the entire album of pictures on Flickr or browse the select few I've uploaded to this thread! The original town and thread was formerly 100% legitimate but I've now moved over to creative mode so I could let my creative juices flow properly.
I'm currently working on: A Stone themed tower, a church-based town, the docks, and plan to plant a castle somewhere around the environs.

    Latest Update:

I've been jumping around from one project to the next a lot lately. I got bored of working on both the docks and the stone tower so I decided to take a stab at making a wall for one of the upper end villages in Cael'Taan. The idea is to have a cathedral in the middle of the town and for it to be the life of the whole build. I'll build everything sprawling around in with a small dock and another exit that will lead towards the spawn point with another village and an isolated inn along the road! Hope you enjoy!

Here's an overhead shot of the map.

And here's the old thread before I had to move everything over and back when I used survival mode and no mods.

I've only ever had one Minecraft world: this one. What's the point of making a new world if you can just walk fifty feet and start something new - able to go back to your old creations whenever you like. So a few dozen creations after my inauguration into Minecraft and I came up with this creation you see here. Originally I didn't plan on posting anything about it until I was 100% complete, but it's been two months since I've worked on it due to a busy schedule, and I probably will never finish it. I've never believed in MCEdit, Inventory Spawners or anything of the like, so all of this creation is 100% legitimate - part of why it has taken so long to make what I've done so far.

Essentially it's a big wall with an underground dome in the middle of it and a town attached to the side. It all started with me trying to make an Atlantis-esque creation.

So here's an overview of most of it:

My initial reason for building here:

There are also a couple of poorly designed redstone mechanisms scattered around, such as a secret door behind a fireplace to get to a mob spawner trap, a meeting room under a temple, and a forest underground.

You can check out the aforementioned devices in a couple of very old, outdated videos / forum posts here:

I've used gimp for a couple of years. It's a great tool, and in my opinion the GUI is even better than photoshop, but photoshop has a bit more functionality. As for the magic wand tool, the actual name of it in gimp is called the fuzzy select tool. I'll include a picture so it's easier to find. I made my signature about a year and a half ago as one of my first gimp projects, I've since branched out and made much more - the program itself is fine! :smile.gif:

I've had this issue with chickens, cows, pigs and sheep. From what I could figure out about it, it was a corrupted chunk error. I had to go into MCedit remove the chunk manually and then create a new one, it seemed to fix the problem.

Great build and on such a big scale. You may overused glowstone a tad bit, but I think the choice of texture pack makes up for it.
