No. **** no. I'm already sick and tired of stuff like the stairs, bookshelves and boats that you can't get back when you break them, making the main light source unreclaimable would just take the suck up to a whole new level.
On that topic, does anyone know why bookcases give you nothing when you break them?
Sep 18, 2010People who say "it's alpha, you can't expect it to work" **** me off because Minecraft has never not been stable (except, obviously, the first few weeks of SMP) It has never been buggy to a noticable degree (excepting SMP, of course) I personally have never seen a single glitch in single player (except that one time Notch confused signs and stairs or something and crashed the saves, but fixed them post-haste) so I have to ask what game the "It's alpha it's buggy" people have been playing.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
Sep 18, 2010Listen, I really, seriously respect Notch. He is a truly incredible game developer. I'm not trying to say he's lazy, I would just like to know what the deal is in regards to time.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
I can say, that while I might not have the most experience in programming, I have enough to hazard a guess that 7 full days is in fact enough to implement more than this. If he's got a good reason, like "taking time to set up the business" or "this is actually buckets harder than you think" then he should TELL us so we don't have to assume terrible things.
Sep 18, 2010I think I'd like to explain how I see the situation, and why thing are what they are.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
People are whiny bitches.
Wait, no, that's stupid.
Here's why, as far as I can see: There's been a perfect storm of circumstances, a perfect shitstorm, if you will. Early on, after Notch quit his job, but before he established secret friday updates, he updated whenever. I remember one week where we got dynamic water, buckets, caves in indfev and minecarts all within a few days. However, when Notch went to a program of updates every friday, he established expectations. The updates, although less frequent, were generally more substantial (redstone). The problems started when Notch had about a month where he was all over the earth on business, and didn't get any updates out. The first update he releases after almost a month with no updates? Fences. just fences. That right there established a really bad mood, a tone of "how the hell have you been spending your time?" and that's how we got here.
My personal feeling is one of confusion, as Notch seems to be implying that he makes the friday updates on thursday. To which I must ask, he quit his job for this, HOW THE HELL DOES HE SPEND THE REST OF HIS TIME? I pray that I misunderstood "I need to stop trying to code biomes in one sitting" but I just can't shake that feeling.
And to preempt a reply, he cannot possibly need the rest of the week to bug fix. There are not that many bugs. And as for establishing a business, has he not already hired somebody to do just that?

^The tnt has a wooden pressure plate on top of it.
When you mine the stone under the door, the cobblestone entity will fall onto the pressure plate, setting off the TNT.
That's... that's genius.
