Then don't download, install and use this mod despite having clear knowledge that that could result?

Says the person using the word "pedantry?"

Congradulations on missing the joke in my using it.

I want to congradulate CATSwithHATS for his pedantry. Also, definitions and usages of words can and do change over time. "Swag" is no longer used in the popular lexicon to mean "stolen" items, its usage is meant ironically to refer to free stuff given as gifts, typically by the hosts of an event or party. Her face said it all, stolen property might have been better than the adverts she was pulling out of that bag...

You know, sometimes the modders are very subtle in how they provide updates on their progress while others might not provide info at all (or it's burried on page 1738 underneath 20 pages of "update plox :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: " posts), but Kinniken made it pretty clear what was up with his mod atm and why. That however does not excuse people from not at least checking the original post to see if there's any relevant information there (and for most mods there is). Newbies are often fairly young and often have never modded their games before (or at least not how we have to with Minecraft) so really you just have to be as patient as your personal annoyance with the same questions and problems over-and-over will allow. Remember: We were all new to Minecraft once and had never modded it before.

posted a message on Can older mods run in newer Minecraft?
Amazingly civil responses. Good job, guys. Anyway, the reason for this incompatibility has to do with how each build of the game obstificates in java. Each build can have subtle shifts in the locations of code in individual files that can completely flummox a mod. This game was not made with modders in mind, but Mojang always turned a blind-yet-knowing eye to people tinkering with the inner workings in order to alter the game in ways Mojang might not have thought of or had chosen not to. In more recent history, the developers have partnered with one of the major modding groups (Bukkit) in order to bring official support for modding to the game. ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION, TRIPLE-A GAME STUDIOS? This is 2012, it is absurd that there are games that cannot be modded as far as singleplayer play or even consentual multiplayer servers (by which I mean server-side support for modification of the base multiplayer experience).

Updates to mods come at the pace of whatever the individual modder choses, and often times they can't update until some other tool they rely on updates. That can happen within hours of a game update, sometimes it takes days. Many modders choose to NOT update for the snapshots, instead opting to wait for the regular releases. SinglePlayerCommands and TooManyItems are almost always first out of the gate with updates to their respective mods after new game builds are released. Modders also often have internal updates to their own mods, so something else to be aware of when looking to mod your game. Cheers.

Shame the mod isn't being updated anymore. I really enjoyed it. I didn't know that it wouldn't be updated when I updated my minecraft. Would anyone have a copy of their minecraft 1.1 and be able to send it to me in a media fire download?

That would be illegal. Find MCNostalgia instead to downgrade to a previous build. And where did Tyber say he wasn't updating anymore? He said quite clearly he was holding off until he had time and the API was available. That's a different beast from abandoning the mod.

Edit: Hmm, post failed to erm post, trying again.

posted a message on Regarding SMP "cheats" -- An updated policy
Well the purpose of the rule is to protect fair-play in multiplayer, as well of course to fend off would-be griefers. Single player games aren't really affected by these issues... beyond wankers preaching about the evils of cheating in single player. This rule is meant to stop people from posting tools that either circumvent server admin control of a given server in order to wreak havoc, circumvent Mojang's account verification system, steal other peoples' legitimate accounts, or more generally spread viruses to do much much worse.

Well not a mod per se, but Rei's Minimap does have an option to highlight slime-spawn chunks.
