Well It's been some time since we had any new spoilers from Naiten or DAYdiecast,so because of that I started thinking about the amazing models that he's made so far,and I was thinking that the only thing I don't like about the models are the glass texture that he's used. It looks so much like the default glass texture(compared to his models) that it really stands out when you use a texture pack (like LB Photo Realism). So I thought I'd ask well what everyone else think?
I do play with default textures. So does Naiten. So do many others.
We make the mod for the Minecraft, not for "Minecraft plus texture packs". And yes, we do not support 32x32 items, larger textures and stuff, because we feel that it is important to stick with the default minecraft style. Some other mods do not - and they look weird in-game.
And if you curious - the glass texture is there only for outside. You won't see it when you are inside the coach or the engine.
@DAYdiecast is there going to be a narrow gauge steam loco? Narrow gauge steam engines were always the coolest looking ones to me, their proportions made for a nicer appearance in my opinion, so a RoW steam loco would be awesome for me.
The steam loco for the narrow gauge railway is on the schedule.
The narrow gauge fleet is growing - the passenger coach is finished. As it was mentioned earlier - it is german-swiss style, and the upcoming narrow gauge rolling stock wil also have similar origins.
What new rolling stock will there be for the new gauge? Also, will there be mixed-gauge track?
The rolling stock will include some freight and passenger cars, as for the regular gauge.
Also, there will be a different type of RS for the narrow gauge - the mining engine and hoppers, they will fit into 3x3 tunnel and could be coupled with each other only. Also, they should be able to get into smalles radius turns.
Don't ask me, I'm here just to add polygons and pixels to pure math. If Naiten says it is possible - it is then.
Currently he is rewriting the core, and more likely there won't be much of new stuff added. But I can assure that vast perfomance improvement is coming.
I got one question Naiten. The trains can no longer pass a block that is right next to the railwayline. Earlier we could have a block on the side of the tracs (only one block high ofcourse) without it beeing an obstacle for the train. That way we could make platforms at the stations. But now in the new update, we can only have halfslabs there. Is this intended, or is it going back to the way it was later on? It was nice to have that one block for the platform.
Since most of the rolling stock wider than 3 blocks - the cars and engines simply pass through side blocks. To make it look good a special platform edge is planned.
You better use 3dMax, gives more opportunities without losing the minecraft style.
I used FMCmodeler, pretty similar to Techne, now I do all the models in 3dsmax

There will be small and large switches, I made the small one. The flexible parts will connect to the switch's ends.
Not for the narrow gauge, that's for sure

Narrowm switches are here:

There you go:
The track with the gap between the rails is not ready yet though.

The Kleinlokomotive is reworked and ready to be added for the narrow gauge.
You can compare it to the older version and see the improvement: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/wip-mods/1443999-1-7-10-rails-of-war-under-reconstruction?comment=1266

Narrow gauge flatbeds are finished.
The track gauge is also changed a bit, now it's 12 texels.

The gauge is 10 texels, the track takes 1 block space, but the ties are wider than one block.

Enlight your route!

I don't think there should be a special block, though it could make the process easier.
The platform edge meant to be adjustable and pick the texture of the vanilla blocks.

The Platform Edge is coming!
