Darksword95 - You've been watching this thread long enough to know that I am almost never gentle.I am really on the fence about the shape of your house here. I think I like it, then again, I don't think I like it. It suggests this is sort of like a barn, you know, that kind of style, but unless it's intended for that, I think it's safe to say that I'm against it. Then again, it kinda looks nice...Ugh! I am stuck, I can't decide! Maybe you should've gone all the way with the roof, maybe this is just fine. Oh, forget that...The upper window on the front of the house is a rectangle, which I don't like at all, I'd rather see it a triangle and placed at the top of the house, that triangle trimmed, then the rest filled with your primary material. I also think your chimney should've been made with cobblestone rather than brick. Should you have gone all the way with the roof, I could see two to four attic windows looking good here. You should also rework the front surface of the house, it's a slight mess. It's just my personal preference, but I don't like the birch tree in the yard; you should swap it with a regular tree. Other than that, I say the house is pretty nice, I like your choice of materials.
While I originally planned for the roof to be fully pointed, I was worried that it would look ridiculously large compared to the rest of the house when it was nearing completion. Do you really think it'd be a good idea to make it fully pointed?
I did make the upper window more triangular, but if I were to make the full section of window a triangle then the interior would have been screwed up. (The back of a bed I built on its own specific platform which affects the floor below it would be directly touching it, etc.)
I did remove the birch tree and replace it with a normal tree. But when I bonemealed the tree, I got a big deformed one. I'll have to work on that.
And also, while I understand your hatred of brick (Believe me, I'm very annoyed at the solid brick cubes people are building on the plots they get in my city), I think that it works well as a chimney and in conjunction with fire. A little brick isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Thanks for the feedback. :biggrin.gif:

None of the changes that Notch plans are going to do anything but add to the game.
Experience? It's just a reward for living longer. It won't make you any weaker now.
Adventure mode? There is no adventure mode. All this update is doing is adding more interesting features and mechanics. Stop complaining.
Jul 22, 2011Alright, here's my house. It's my first attempt at a traditional house ever, or at least in a long time.Posted in: Screenshots
It's in the city of Grimonte which I am working on with a few friends and which will have its own thread in the future.

Jul 21, 2011So, anyways, I'm making a house right now as a getaway from my palace in the city that I am working on. I'll upload pics for some advice in a bit, Yono. I haven't done a true house in a long time if ever, so advice would be very welcome.Posted in: Screenshots

You're honestly arguing for your right to make fun of an event in which people who have posted in this thread lost friends and family?
You're literally saying: "I know your friend died and all but come on, have a laugh bro!"
Seriously, don't reproduce. There's too much stupid in the human race already.
Jul 21, 2011Hahaha, because you clearly would be just as badly harmed by not having a video game as a starving person would be without food.Posted in: Screenshots
We get it, you stole something. Nobody cares. What does annoy people is when pirates try to jstify it. Nobody cares about the fact that your mommy won't buy you something. Furthermore, your mommy refusing to buy you a game doesn't mean you can steal it.
Nonetheless, go ahead, steal, but don't try to justify it.

Vast improvement, although you may want to use a bit more variety in materials.

On the right there will be a castle equal in height to but slightly less wide than the cathedral, once the walls are complete.
The city is named Grimonte.
In this image you can see part of the residential district and trade district, as well as part of the keep's walls. Left out are the dam, port district, farm district, and whatever else we choose to add in the future.
There will be a full thread for it when it is complete. It is also a server city in which anyone can get a plot and build a house, so if you're interested, head over to Xav's server. bit.ly/xavserv
You can also see some buildings already made by members of the server. The triangular one on the left was created by LeviSouthall, and the quite loggy building in the foreground is KingofBritains's redstone shop.
