what!!!???? minecraft in minecraft? I WANNA SEE!

I'd strongly recommend watching it at a higher resolution. If you were curious, that thing is 80% RAM and 15% display, the stuff that actually runs the game is pretty small.

That thing is absurdly huge, even for a 2x2 nonflush door.

posted a message on How did you all learn red stone circuitry?
Oh, I'm pretty sure I saw CNB's Batcave while browsing YT, deemed myself capable of making something better, bought MC and started messing around, completely ignoring tutorials.

I failed pretty hard at first (size-wise, I still made some cool stuff), but got better quickly. Tutorials and the forum are for when there's a specific thing you can't get that you've looked at and need some help on like quasi-connectivity, but for entire inventions just trying it yourself is best.

Sometimes I'll have an invention I need to transfer over from my creative world and build in survival, or even just rebuild in another spot in creative. Simply checking what blocks go where gets the job done, but I usually have absolutely no idea what part of the thing I'm building or what it does (unless I'm using color-coded wool)- and it's my invention, so tutorials that other people made show me even less. If it's something I care about I'll follow the tutorial and build it, but then stare at it and crawl around inside until I know exactly what everything does well enough to explain it to someone else as if I made it.

Redstone. Multiplayer redstone worlds are annoying as you don't have full control over what happens there, and high-level stuff is impossible to make without full control.

Typing an obvious question in large, red text with no capitalization and no punctuation is a very good way to be not taken seriously.

posted a message on Signal Fade- Need Information
As far as I know, if you're too far away from the source of this signal the source will stop updating, but will start working normally once you're near it again. But it's changed so much recently that I'm not sure.

There was an old trick involving boats on pulsing pistons so that if the redstone froze, one of the pistons would be left down, the boat would fall onto a pressure plate, and the pressure plate could bud the clock to start it again. That may be what he's referring to now, but it's currently useless as redstone doesn't seem to get stuck in that way anymore.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! It was well worth the hard work put into it!

    Oh, you're very welcome.

Just wondering though... With RS blocks, infinite wall extenders are theoretically possible if you're mad enough to wire the whole thing up, but there's no way something that big will be useful in survival. Could you door guys focus instead on getting, say, a 6x6 compact enough to use in survival? After 8x8, additional blocks are harder to notice and don't make as much of a difference.

How? Arrange topics in order of date created, skip to last page, go forward a few pages, pick topic, make alt, necro.

    Why? Who knows.

    Quote from UK_Legend

Haha yes! but it doesn't act like a normal BUD, it doesn't change states on an update but it acts just like it's being powered directly, unless of course I'm just being an idiot and the middle piston is updating the bottom one which now I've typed that actually makes sense..

    >.<

    It's been a long day..

In 1.4, piston retraction caused an update but not extension. In 1.5, they both do. On the one hand, things like 1x1 pixel infinite displays are more complicated now, but on the other things like 4x4 flush doors don't require nearly as precise of timings to make. It could be a blessing or a curse, depending on what you're doing.

posted a message on WHY do my pistons keep doing things on thier own?!?!?!?!
    Quote from GoGoGadgetMan77

WOW, that is EXTREMELY lame! since this has a FEW uses instead of creating something to mimic it and fixing the bug they just leave the bug???? So in other words this project I've been working on for, oh the past three weeks is ruined?!?!?!?! and I guess I could use half slabs and all that but it means I have to COMPLETELY re-do this project! UGH!

No, it's an extremely useful glitch. Easy D-Flipflops, medium sized door optimizations, and the ability to detect block updates in general are way more useful than whatever you were working on- and even then, I'm fairly sure that not only is there another way to do what you want, it's also easier than you think.

Now, if it's extremely important for this to work with minimal changes, try putting horizontal pistons on top of each glitched piston. They'll update it whenever the current changes and you might have no more problems. It would help if I had a better idea of what you're doing.

Oh, and Creepers and Redstone don't mix. He'll be causing a lot more problems than quasi-connectivity in a minute if you don't move him.

posted a message on 4x3 Door - Does one exist?
I had an ornamental 5 thick 3x4 that I used a lot before 1.5, but it's broken now. Anyhow, the way I did it is with a double extender on the left that pushes all the blocks to the right one and then retracts the left column into the wall, and then a double extender + storage pistons on the right that handled the middle and right columns. Basically I used a standard 2-high wall hipster door, but with a double extender on the opposite wall so I didn't have to fiddle around with triple extenders. Because the top and bottom are totally free, I put in two quad extenders without retraction to make the door scroll up before opening and down after closing, because it looked epic.

Sometime I'm going to try to make it again in 1.5, but 3 thick. It'll be fun. I've already got all the pistons powered and sort of in sync (the door is at one edge and I'm powering the right extender using the storage blocks).

It's an exploit, not cheating. I've never had a problem in taking advantage of flaws in game's coding, provided they enhance your abilities/enjoyment without completely killing the point of the game like duping stuff. And when something like logging off is so easy to abuse, why not? I used to do that all the time to skip night, with a timer running in the background so I came back on at the right time. And that's different from peaceful, for the record, because I still get hungry, have to light my turf and fight mobs in caves.
