1. Bring 4 stacks of torches
2. Bring 5 iron picks
3. Bring 4 cooked pork
4. Wear full iron armor
5. Bring bucket of water for lava
Have fun spelunking!
Why?
1.) Four stacks of torches is a complete waste of inventory space. You can make wood into sticks and should find far more Coal than is needed while caving. Just break logs into sticks and create in your 2x2 as needed.
2.) Reasonable approach, depending on how patient you are with tools. I prefer a fleet of Stone Picks. They break quickly but 98% of the cave is made of them.
3.) A stack of is much more efficient. However, if you don't have access to much, Cooked Pork works too.
4.) If you have a stack of Wheat, you don't need the armor.
5.) This is 100% correct. A bucket of water is an absolute necessity.
Bottom Line: You can't find wood or health underground. Craft everything else when you get down there.
What I bring...
One stack each of: , , , , and :////:. Also, Diamond Pick, Diamond Shovel, bucket of . Craft Stone Shovels for the grunt work when you get there. Build and dispose of workbenches as you go.
I say yes. I've seen the tutorials on how to do the Slingshot with the powered rails, but my tracks aren't oriented in the right direction and I'm too much of a retard to figure out how to fix them without reorienting the entire room.
so.... was any of that real? i seriously can't tell, but i think some of that notch probably wouldn't ever consider actually doing honestly... hell.. most of it, except the boosters.
99% "No." My guess is he was poking fun at what I'm sure was an absolutely flood of complaints about fixing the booster glitch.
The only thing remaining was the "Jump in cart, get boosted away without pushing any buttons" functionality... But you can get very close to that by instead standing on a plate, and then entering the cart releases the plate and then you go.
Shouldn't the thread title be "Notch fixed minecarts"?
Just like Ladders...
Notch creates bug: NOTCH!!! YOU ARE TEH SUCK! Notch fixes bug: NOTCH!!! YOU ARE TEH SUCK!
Although, if Notch were going to leave in any bug in, my guess is it would have been Boosters. Sounds like he's been working like a MOFO on the Wiki bug list. I would very much favor an even rotation between New Content/Bug Fixes/Developing the final product. This would mean much less new content and fewer updates, but a more streamlined product and a significant additions when Minecraft goes Retail.
You only need 3 wood planks to get stone.
You only need 3 cobblestones to get iron.
You only need 3 iron ingots to get diamonds.
Noticing a pattern yet? Some people are plain idiots.
The difference is:
You need wood to get stone.
By the time you get :cobblestone:, rounding up more is an accomplishment.
By the time you get , rounding up more is an accomplishment.
By the time you get , rounding up more is...trivially easy.
Even without using the Red Stone method of farming it, a single pool should net you about a stack of a piece. Give them uber durability and you find one cave with a few pools and you'd never have to worry about tool materials ever again.
The BIGGEST PROBLEM, though, is that right now , , and , have alternative uses. If we were to implement tools, we'd have to also include alternative ways for to be useful because, as of yet, it's only really useful in terms of Armor and Tools. Without those, Diamond becomes pointless.

That's a bad assumption on the Internet.
I think the small dots make it look more like Gravel than Smooth Stone. I'd tone it down a bit.

You just described 99.9% of the Internets.

HORRY ****! I just got finished with Season One and thought that was the longest LP I've ever seen. They've got TWO MORE SEASONS of that?!?!?
Funny as hell too. What are their accents? I know they're British, but there are a lot of regional dialects.

This is, IMHO, a solution in search of a problem.

Someone in the other thread called it "awesomely useless" or something like that.
Great if you just want a challenge and do it for the hell of it, but yeah. If you really want to know if they've grown, just walk in and look.
