    I'm thinking about doing some mod compat, for starters, here's some PrimalCore mobs:



    Brown bear, black bear, and steppe wolf.


    UPDATE: Added the ovis atre, with a devilish look to show it's a nether linage, as well as udders (not visible here) to show it can be milked


    Also BearWithMe and Sophisticated Wolves look more than doable, may do those next.

    Another remodel of a remodel, this time the cow



    May redo the pig next, though it will be more akin to a tweak and less a remodel. The chicken I feel still holds up and will stay as-is.

    posted a message on Better Animals+ --A Mod to bring in New Life and Challenges to the Game

    Better Animals+ would be, in short, a mod that adds new mobs to the game, including hostile, friendly, and even tamable. If you've played Minecraft for any amount of time, you have probably noticed how bland and instinctive vanilla mobs can get, this mod aims to fix that, without going overkill but also while staying pretty unique. Here's a small sample of some of the mobs:






    Hopefully that has piqued your interest, and in addition, I've been working on plenty more models and textures, and have a ton more planned, here's all of them so far here, along with a brief rundown of how that mob will act, what it will drop, and where it will spawn:

    The album above is also constantly updated, so check back frequently!


    If someone would be willing to code this mod is much appreciated, though I do request the following:
    - For 1.12.2+ only
    - Proper OreDict naming for certain items

    - I would prefer no dependencies or coremods, but if absolutely necessary, they're ok, given they're lightweight.

    Have you ever looked at the common pigs, chickens, cows, etc, then looked at the horse? You may have noticed a clear difference in design, and how much better the horse looked. As you know, something similar happened in 1.13, but in reverse. So the question is, why make the horse worst when you could make the other animals better? This mod aims to do that, but still in a vanilla-esque way, so these models would fit seamlessly into your worlds, but still be a bit better than the vanilla models. In addition, this mod is very simple in its goal--better animal models but without adding genders, breeds, special care, etc., as some of us simply want the vanilla animals to look a bit better.

    Note: Even though this mod has a few builds out so far, I'm creating this thread in order to see if any coders are interested, as the original coders have left in order to pursue brighter pastures, though this mod isn't in a very good state, as many have mentioned bad frames (due to the usage of loops in-game), and I would also like for this mod to be client-sided, simply replacing Vanilla models instead of overwriting the mobs entirely, in order for better compat reasons. I would also like for this mod to not need any dependencies if possible, thanks.

    Hello all, if you don't know I'm one of the devs on AvP. Before you freak out about the OP, please be aware AvP is not dead nor will it be soon. Personal issues happen and they will be overcome, and the mod is simply on a hiatus for the time being.


    That being said, we are looking for more coders and builders, the former especially, so if you're interested, feel free to shoot me a PM here or join our Discord, simply PM me asking for the server


    As for this forum page, its possible that later I will make a new page for the mod, which will be called "AvP: Reawakening"


    We have plenty of things in store, including a "soft reboot" of the mod, as well as plenty of new ribcage destroying and spinal cord ripping aliens! I regularly post spoilers on the Discord as well, so its a good idea to pop in to there to get a taste of that's to come.

    Well first off we moved to 1.10.2, which will be the main development version until we port to 1.12.2. This means we will no longer support 1.7.10 and it will not get any new updates. Though content wise, we now have (as of 5.0.0.33)


    • New shaped block functionality. They're now called "Reflective Blocks" and they now work like Carpenter's Blocks (since it has no equivalent in 1.10.2). This it also means the creative tab is no longer a mess of shaped blocks.
    • 8 new decorative blocks were added- 7 new padding-type blocks, inspired by Alien and Alien Isolation (the original padding block also got a facelift), as well as a new stone type, which I will get to in a sec...

    • The Nostromo/Seegson flamethrower also got a makeover. Just look much better overall.
    • The lighting panels were *finally* fixed, and now create light when powered.
    • Similar to the above, a new type of light, a florescent tube, was added. These also need power, but can transmit power to adjacent blocks if they're touching its terminals.
    • A newer, smaller, and better-looking blastdoor type, also Isolation inspired. 2 wide vs the older 4 wide one.
    • Both types of blastdoors can now have passwords assigned to them as well as being made to auto-close using a new item, the Security Access Tuner. Both types also now have sounds.
    • Stun baton and the charge pack. Using the charge pack as "ammo", the stun baton can slow mobs hit by it as well as inflict diamond sword-level of damage. It also has some really nice FX

    That's all for now, but we still have plenty of other things planned, such as the neomorphs, protomorphs, new weapons, and a new machine.

    They're not being removed. Them turning into pigs is a known bug with the beta. Will be fixed soon

    Though later they will actually wear a 3D armour that actually looks like the one in the series

    So after playing this mod for a long bit of its development, I must say I enjoy it. However, it is a little more one sided toward aliens and marines. And finally have a boss type named Clan Leader that has two attacks; a close range and a distance, such as blades and plasma caster or some other ranged attack (maybe a net that locks the player in place for a few seconds).


    I know the aliens are cool but the predators deserve some love too. The ones we have are great, just lack the variety of the aliens.


    More preds are planned for sure. However, AvP: Extinction is not canon so nothing from it will be added. Instead we have some TBA canon types such as the tracker and falconer, among others, that are waiting to be added.

    Also I think the humans themselves are pretty left out. They have the marine mob, which itself spawns rarely, and the combat synth, which doesn't spawn at all. In addition, other than the guns, they don't have many specific items, not counting the machines, since half of them can't be created yet.
