Hey PunnyMonkey! Just played through your map, and made it the first series in my new Let's-Play channel. (Let me know if you have any issues with me doing that.) Here's a link to my first episode, if you want to check it out: .
I'll be uploading the next episode soon, along with some feedback on the map.
Great map here! I hadn't done an adventure map in awhile, and this has gotten me back in the mood. The architecture was great, not derpy like some other maps. The storyline was great (if you recognize my character's skin, you'll get how much I appreciated the inspiriation for the story). Even the quest notes were well written! I personally would have preferred some puzzles mixed in and a little less parkour, but at least the parkour bits were well done and I didn't have to rage-quit. Overall, very well done, sir!
Here's my score; not great, but respectable:
Amazing map, three_two! I finally finished by accidentally ... falling ... onto the last birdcage I needed. I thought the areas looked amazing and were fun to play in (except for the Citadel, you *******), and the JBM felt more rewarding than just plunking some wool down. Great job my good sir!
Good job guys! This was a straight-up fun puzzle map. The parkour bits were actually possible and didn't make me ragequit, and there were some crafty bits with pistons and furnaces that I haven't seen before. I may have possibly bent the rules a tad during the soul sand race maybe. Those get frustrating. Oh, and I found all 108 :GoldBar:!
I think you're off to a good start with the map, but it does need a little work still. I liked where you were going with the story, but it felt disjointed. You're investigating tax evasion, someone's growing mushrooms, and townspeople are investigating a temple. Maybe I missed something, but things didn't seem to come together.
I did really like the architecture, especially the little castle and crane thingy. The airplane was also cool. Good use of the 1.8 updates as well.
Overall, I would definitely play this again if you come out with a new version, but I suggest you tie everything together a little more. Also, the ending was way too abrupt. I didn't go into the room, so after everything "happened", I didn't know what to do (PS, there's a cool mineshaft right after the ending :wink.gif: ). But good start, and keep it up!
This map was ok.... but it seemed really short. I still never saw any wood for making a crafting table, and how are you supposed to get through the final tunnel without any sort of weapon, etc? Not a bad map, just not great. I found 87 diamonds, btw. Thanks for the game!
For 1.7, where you finish this version, there will be a button, and a room will pop up portal style, and your back in!
Nice! I'm excited to see what ways people will use pistons once 1.7 finally comes out. I'm sure you'll have plenty more interesting rooms to frustrate us.
Kudos to you, TehBombR! I was thoroughly sucked into this map; it was really fun! I like the idea of finding the ingots to score, and using redstone for blood. Cool areas, cool story; just all around good map. Here's my score: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/101/crescentislandscore.png
I enjoyed this map immensely! Some of the jump-y parts got a little too frustrating, but that's to be expected. I thought there was a good variety of puzzles, and the rooms looked great. Also, you may want to make the actual ending a little more obvious. **SPOILER** After being tricked a few times, I wasn't sure if ending upon the roof was THE end or not :wink.gif: **END SPOILER**
Great job all around, and I look forward to what you come up with for 1.7!
