You have to remember that this mod is still in it early alpha and that both the site and the Wiki are quiet new and still get updated a lot...But most of the ores work that same... You smelt them the same and u shape them the same... Just do some research on other ores and try to implement to to that specific ore.
Also while i play i preffer to explore have a look at the new biomes, get saplings for diffrent types of trees and just have a look around... Another idea would be chaning the biome your in and the rock type your mining in or using a prospecters pick to point you in a direction you should mine.
A bit late of a reply, apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
I started in a hilly region that was half taiga, but I had both a swamp and a jungle nearby. I had nearly a full inventory of different tree types, but I'd only found gypsum. Even with gypsum I had to go through the swamp and jungle to find it. I mined in six different types of stone. I didn't use a prospectors pick, however, because it seemed a little out of place. If it intended to be 'true' survival, a magical pick that sniffs out ore doesn't quite fit with the feel of it.
With the ore itself, I tried everything that was suggested for the other ores; I tried the firepit, I tried the forge, I tried adding bellows, I tried different heights...nada. I'd gone through the wiki twice over trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and came up with nothing.
As I said, I'm keeping an eye on the mod. For now, it's just not polished enough for me to stop using everything else I use.
