its not the only reason, but upload speed is something thats needed, friends download speed can effect it too, but i doubt that will be where the problem is
Alright, thanks for the help. I'll definitely be calling my ISP tomorrow, to figure out why I'm getting such low speeds.
I normally get tests back in the 7-10 mbps upload range. There is definitely a problem here.

I just did a speed test, got .81 mbps. Looks like I'm going to be making a call to my ISP tomorrow.

Is that the only reason something like this would be happening?

I'm trying to set up a server for my friends to play on, but for some reason, when they connect they simply fall into the void. Even after me teleporting them away from the spawn. Sometimes at y = 100, they just float there.

To test if it was something simple with someone's network, I set up a super flat world and both of my friends were able to easily connect.

I've checked the server log, but there doesn't seem to be anything of help(that's obvious anyway) in there.

I'm not quite sure what other kind of information I need to provide, but if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest looking up redstone logic gates to start.

When messing around with these logic gates, pay attention to how the redstone "power" affects the blocks around it. Then try making your own versions of the gates on your own.

EDIT: I have a redstone tutorial world I'm very slowly working on that might help someone like you, unless you're able to find someone else to help beforehand.

I don't believe MCX360 uses any special ports, beyond the ones that the xbox itself already uses.

Oh, and here is the data sheet for the redesigned instruction-set. Probably not official, I imagine I'll be changing things at some point.

Alright then, doesn't look too complicated. Haha.

Updated the OP with the official finalized specs. It now has 16 "true" functions, as the comparator will actually be used to output specialized flag registers, more relevant to program memory than processing operations. (They'll mostly be used for branching, in fancy programs.) This also helps everything fit into my completely redesigned instruction-set, which I should be able to post a photo of in a day or two. :D (Still a W.I.P. at this point.) Not to mention, having a 4-bit decoder with only 12 outputs felt like such a waste. :P Not sure what I would actually do with these implication functions, but I'm sure a 1337 programmer out there somewhere would find them useful.

    ALU (16 functions)
    • AND
    • NAND
    • OR
    • NOR
    • XOR
    • XNOR
    • IMPLIES (a AND !b)
    • CON-IMPLIES (!a AND b)
    • NIMPLIES (a NAND !b)
    • CON-NIMPLIES (!a NAND b)
    • NOT
    • ADD
    • SUB (a - b)
    • SUB (b - a)
    • L. Shift
    • R. Shift
    Official legitness!!!

Also, I feel it is necessary to share the artwork that has been recently made around the project XENON construction site.

Oh man, I can't believe you actually posted those. Haha.

Slimes don't actually spawn on peaceful, however if they spawn on easy or higher and then you save and quit, only to later load the game up on peaceful the slimes for whatever reason will not despawn.

posted a message on Will this EVER get fixed?!?

Yesterday, me and a couple friends were yacking while my cubinator was running. It ran for a little over 2 hours before breaking, just like it always does, even when offline.
And even then it was only ONE piston that "broke" down out of 600+ pistons. Funny how that works.

Yeah, random kids often want to see it. One of the downfalls of having someone else record for you, everyone can see your gamertag. I don't mind though, it's fun to show off sometimes.

I'm actually about to get on in a few minutes. If you're on, and up to it, we can get started tonight. Probably not on the actual construction, but you'll at least be up to speed.
I'm online right now, but I'm not sure about getting started right now. Perhaps later tonight or tomorrow.

Sounds good! I wish more people actually wanted to learn about redstone. By the way, one of the guys who was supposed to be helping me out hasn't been on for over a week. I don't really feel like waiting for him, so I think Crininson and I are going to get started soon. You don't have to help with the building if you don't want to, but you can still join in while I'm teaching Crin everything.

Can't wait. And yeah, the other day, I was there while you were showing off your old computer, I was just stuck in Dishonored "mode" haha.

Any idea when we can actually get started?

Thank you both. That's a significant improvement in the design :)

I won't be sad to retire my Rube Goldberg version. I was happy to discover it worked at all, but was not looking forward to building multiple iterations.
Not a problem, I did the same thing when I first started out with redstone. I had A LOT of overly complicated creations that I, over time, learned to shrink down into the smallest, most stable version possible.

That's almost the exact image I head in my mind. xD Although this specific design has one nasty flaw. When this thing eventually hits its limit, that torch will burn out. If you harvest all of the cobblestone at once, this isn't a problem. But, chances are there will be times when you only want to take a few blocks. The system will be "jammed", so to speak, until you manually update the torch.

If you place the torch on a block directly under the piston, this issue is avoided. You can take less than the total limit the generator can harvest, and it will replenish automatically.
Well, before reading this topic, I hadn't even thought of something like this. Hadn't had much of a need for it. However, you said "one piston, one torch, and one redstone dust" and I just happened to take it as a challenge of sorts. Haha. I did, however, notice it would burn out during the little bit of testing I did. Why I didn't bother to think of a way to fix that, the world may never know.

However, updated picture, from your "better" description, that solves the problem:

Your design is very much over-complicated. This same mechanism could be made simpler, more compact, and much faster, using a single piston. With one piston, one torch, and a single tile of redstone dust you can make a mechanism that does the same thing 3 times faster, while using a tiny fraction of the resources.

Picture taken on the PC, tested to work on xbox:

    Technically, yes.

But my statue is fortified, and the surrounding area has traps and stuff for hostile mobs. If I miss the hole and it closes while mobs are chasing me or something, that would be bad.

So I just prefer a manual open/close system.
If you place the button directly over the hole where the piston will contract that may solve that problem. Alternatively, I'd also suggest looking into using a XOR Gate.
