posted a message on A neat Idea for the media/gaming industry/etc..
If it's just a "The game was good!" kind of thing, it lacks analytical depth, which is important for critical analysis.

    EDITED OUT POST:
The thing about criticism is that critics have to have authority. If theres a movie critic who graduated from film school, it's sensible to take their word for granted. If a teenager who enjoys a critically unaccepted movie hears about criticism, it's really up in the air whether or not they will recognize the difference between their opinions and expert analysis. Sometimes, they will greatly disagree with the critics, and outvote them, which is sad. Some people say that "the majority is often right", but then you run into problems when in history major beliefs have changed.

Lets take for example, the common religions in history. A long time ago, the Jewish and Pagan religions had once reached a majority of the populace. However, later Christianity became more popular, so obviously one of the majorities must have been wrong. After all, if you're using the belief that whatever is popular is correct, what you find correct is not factual, but rather a variable based on numbers.

The whole "The majority is right" belief can be tragic when applied to voting, since in politics, few people are experts. However, despite this, politics effect the lives of everybody in a country and even the world as a whole, which is rather unfortunate due to the fact that experts aren't given much weight. When you think about it, the same people who think Twilight and Transformers were good movies are the same people who are analyzing (or not analyzing per say) our politics and choosing world decisions. And that is a little frightening, to be honest. Especially since most even before coming into the problem of critics vs nonanalytical.

I dabble in it, but can you specify your order?
Sprite size, Style, Restrictions, and Schedule? It'd be easier to check if I'd be interested if I knew what I was getting into.

No animal has managed to take control of the majority of resources, look down upon other animals as if they are some kind of superior god species, or harmed the planet and other animals with their doing.
It's a very depressing world, and people are NOT going to change, even though the are able to.

If there were, would you be happy with humans?

There are problems with the world, but angsting and blaming ourselves won't accomplish anything other than creating a few emo poems and maybe a few movies like Ferngully.

People can change, but they have to allow it. It's not hopeless-sure there are some things we cannot do, but it's not hopeless. Stop acting everything is ****ed up because "HUMANS!".

And what about the people who are trying? What about the people who unselfishly donate money and respurces? What about the people who actually try to help other people with little to nothing in return? I'm not one of them, but I know they exist. I've seen them, damn it!

You do realize that if we only say that because we ARE human?
I dunno about the smartest race, but definitely the most egotistical and selfish.
To be completely honest, I don't understand many things humans do. They just don't make sense to me and I don't feel connected to them. I won't say any more, because the last time I said I preferred animals over humans on a forum, it started a flame war.

    ... I can see why.

How can anything be seen as more egotistical than us if they never tell us how much better they are than us? As for selfish, Dolphins are pretty big pricks you know. And there aren't an incredible amount of sacrifices in the animal kingdom unless it's for kin. Of course, even rabbits can eat their own children sometimes, so I guess even kin can't stop some animals from being even more selfish than we are.

What kind of aesthetic are you aiming for? Right now it looks like non-palette restricted MSDOS, so if that were what you were aiming for, it's pretty good. The trees don't have much shading, but if you were actually aiming for MSDOS, its fine how it is. If not, you may want to shade it, as they seem pretty flat.

Actually, try making a spare set with more intense shading with one source of light in mind. Experiment with the shading a bit on everything, it can't hurt to play around.

Just a note on the grass though, if you plan on shading that, be careful when you finalize it: The grass should never stand out from what's ontop of it. It may even be fine as it is right now, although it wouldn't hurt to play around with it (Unless you're on a time schedule).

How can we be shot, if violence is forbidden. And the OP is trashed, as well almost all the posts/threads pre-existing on the forums.

It's a joke. That's why I added "On a serious note" after it. As in the previous statements were not serious.

I was doing some research about the ocean and why are Dolphins so stupid? They are an incredibly intellectual species of marine mammals that have shown sentience, however, they murder each other for sport. Thats right-they do it for no good reason. They murder each other not for food, nor territory but for fun. One day they will spawn their indecent murderous selves over the seas and we should stop them,

I'm sorry, I heard this "Man is the worst animal" schtick so many times I'd prefer to change it around.

Seriously, it's 2012, everybody knows that people have made mistakes in the past, and are continuing to make mistakes today. It's not something you should rant about without having a solution.

When spriting in games, it's important to keep a good color scheme on hand. Try to incorporate a few of your key colors in each object. Since you're using green right now, it'd be good to use red or pink to compliment that. Use less saturated reds (Red-Browns, Grey-Reds, Soft-Pinks) somehwat liberally and use saturated reds sparingly, since the more saturated it is, the more it will contrast and draw attention.

They're pretty nice. I like how the swords aren't just simple edits and have totally different shapes for each set. Some people really don't care if they are just recolors, for some absurd reason. But I see you're above that, so nice job. The shading is kind of odd though, the light source changes in some of the sprites. You may want to keep light sources in mind next time you work.

Have you worked on anything else?

I believe that spritesheets shouldn't be credited to the people who rip them.

The people who make them? Sure. But the people who rip them? No.

And spriters will throw tantrums over this.
