One last question... can i hide my name in the building somewhere?
Sure, long as it's not too obtrusive.
Looking good guys, keep them coming - please keep in mind the player is allowed to break blocks, so any obvious puzzle will probably simply be broken through.
Would endstone be an okay building material?(i want a material that looks like bone and i'm struggling to find something to use)
Also do you want us to add furniture or should we do it by ourselves?
End Stone is fine and even encouraged. Furnishings preferred, although I'll go through and add treasure or whatever myself.
Still looking for submissions, ideally I'd like fifty+ different designs. If you don't have a working map editor, feel free to just upload the whole map file, I can cut it out myself.
Indeed. Wonderful tool, and I'd never be able to make anything I do without it. I was seriously afraid you weren't going to update for the new map format.
Is there a certain texture pack you'll have to go with the map?
No. I would recommend making sure it looks good at least in the default texture pack - that's what I use when mapmaking, and what I'm most worried about compatibility with.
are we talking ancient or modern Egypt? {A bit stupid question I know, I'm assuming ancient}
Ancient - but emphasis on "inspired by", not "exact copy of". Play with the motifs - use odd shapes or color arrangements, the point is a city that feels strange, but still like a city.
you've said that you suggest playing your second map; is that because it's much more polished and thought through? Or do you just prefer the second more?
All of the above, on top of the fact that the depths were made before the current hunger system was implemented, and a few other changes can occasionally break it making it impossible to complete. My next map is mostly underground in much the same style, so you may want to just wait for that when I finish it roughly three weeks before the apocalypse.
Is there any more info you can give me about the city and what type of building you want me to make such a house, store, farm?
Any or all of those would be good - since it's a city, a variety of structures is important. It's a large, sort of egypt-themed city in a broad sandstone cavern.
I'm working on my next custom CTM map, and one of the areas I'm doing is a very large city. Unfortunately, I suck at architecture, so I figured why not see what the community can do with the challenge.
Here's your rules:
- You have a 25x25x15 area to build in - vertically, you can go up to five tiles below and 10 above ground level.
- You can use the following materials: Sandstone, any Stone item (including moss stone), any Wood item (including chests, bookcases, etc), dirt, grass, leaves.
- Keep water use to a minimum (it's a desert map).
- Post pictures, or if you really want to help, upload an MCEdit schematic.

Could you upload the world, then? I can extract it from the world myself.

And this is why I let other people do architecture. Looks great, thanks a ton.
