You are all wrong, the community hasn't changed since I joined. It's stayed the same, just with a few people popping out of the group. Those are the people who do what people don't like. Not sure why people instantly think a couple people doing bad things makes the entire community bad.
Sure you can miss the old community, but it won't do you any good considering it isn't much different than how it is now. Besides, we're here now, and missing something will not bring it back. You're just desiring the impossible.
I'm new to server hosting, i want my server to go public but dont want anyone to know my ip for security purposes. Now is there a way to make it so when people connect to my server that they connect with something else than my Ip? please help
(Side note): I have seen servers that have an ip like this: Cheeseface.Armadillo.com
Help would be much appreciated.
The IPs that look like URLs are from servers. Likely loaned or rented from the internet. That costs money, and a good bit at that. You should not worry too much about it. If it's so terribly bad you can always look into Hamachi, which I believe gives you an IP that doesn't quite resemble the 'real' one.
The only thing I know is some HTML, and to be honest, the last website I help run was a pain. It's really not fun and games to those of you who value things like administrator and moderator powers. The only real way to get a website to be successful is lots of hard work and devoted admins who know what they're doing. You're likely to get none from asking a random community off a Minecraft forum.
Also, you should drop the idea of creating a website unless you're good at HTML or CSS, and know a good bit of PHP or Javascript. If you know none of those things, drop the idea. Now. Websites made with forums that are public domain never succeed well, and if they do it's likely because of all the effort put into it. A random website being created from a couple people off a forum with little to no planning is going to fall.
I have to say, be prepared for a good bit of hardships. As well as be ready to organize your staff members, because if you don't keep them in check, they will ruin you. Do make sure the people you allow as administrators are not total idiots. Good luck with your website. I will now go lurk the forums some more.
I must agree to this, as it is the only honorable way for gravel to go. In the assumption the build-up in my chests is too large to carry anymore. I usually just store it in a deep, dark, creeper infested room. Or the lava pool.
I start out by getting exactly two trees worth of wood, the biome I start in determines the maximum wood I'll have. After this, I go and search for a difficult or easy place to build (Never medium, I've build in every possible location that consists of that difficulty.). Afterwords I build a spiral staircase and go underground, never to be heard from again.
I could be taking something relevant to what I'm interested in, such as Java and 3D Animation.
Haha, I find this funny because I'm in your exact situation, except I'm taking both Java and 3D Animation this year.
Oh, and it's true schools contradict themselves, but since they're older than us and have more respect with people in power they can do that and force us to not question them. Nonetheless we can't change anything at this point, so we can bare with what little school we have left.
Once you get into posting, there is no sense of accomplishment. You do it to talk to people. Or, that's what I do.
That's what posting on forums was meant to do, to start conversations and exchange knowledge. Though lately people have been adding irrelevant replies with no update to the conversations within threads. This is, because of post count. Which there can be several reasons why people want it higher.
No, I would most certainly not want to have to re-lit every torch I have ever placed. I would eventually miss one and a zombie, creeper, or skeleton, maybe a spider.. maybe... Would spawn in my house or mine.
Even if I didn't have to replace the current ones, the newer ones would go out, and I'd have to re-light them to prevent mob infestations. The problem with this is, I only have a limited number of minute to my time on Minecraft per sitting, and if I spend an hour straight re-lighting some torches around my fortress, castle, or whatever I have at the moment, then I'd get virtually no real work done. Let alone any fun.
It would be a bad decision on anyone's part to force a player to do repetitious work all day long to keep them safe in their own home. If this was to happen though, you'd have to have an alternative, one which lasts forever. Glowstone might work, if it wasn't so large and space taking, you also can't walk through it.
I know we've all had our opinion about gravel had you played more than 2 hours of Minecraft. It's clearly there, the gravel I mean. It stalks us, whether we're enjoying a refreshing walk inside a nearby cavern or if we're strolling the spooky beach sides. It's there, and I do mean everywhere.
If you're opinion wasn't already decided by this point, then allow me to enlighten you. Gravel is the plague of Minecraft (Similiar to creepers, except you cannot love gravel.). Gravel only has three uses, yes, three uses! First one being gathering flint, second being clogging streams of liquids, and the third, dropping it on people's heads (Great pvp weapon actually, but that's no bright side!).
Let's begin on gravel's terrible side now, shall we? Gravel has always been the enemy of miners, since the start. When you're mining, out of the blue (Or gray more likely), gravel begins to rain upon your head. It will crush you, and if you are not crushed to death, it will have a nice nap on your mine's path. This blocks you from mining until you either completely destroy it with your hands or murder it with your shovel. It tends to leave giant holes in the ceiling of the mine as well.
Gravel will stockpile inside your storage like spoiled leftovers in your fridge. It just uses up space because we all know there's only one way to get rid of it without messing up your landscape, and that's turning it into flint. Only problem, is it takes us an insanely long time to turn 64 gravel into 64 flint. We could use the time we spend turning gravel into flint on other useful things, like finishing that roller coaster or digging in our mine (In the assumption you don't pick up more of this block.).
Now onto gravel's friend, lava. Any Minecraft miner can tell you, where there's gravel underground, there's generally lava nearby. Gravel for the most part is hugging a sea of lava. This is, of course excluding cavern gravel. The gravel near lava is almost always in your way however, the problem with this, is it wants to be mined by you. If you mine it though, your mine will be flooded with lava in less than a minute. Once your mine is flooded, you will have to clean it up and make a wall where the lava is pouring from. This is all caused by gravel doing what it does best, ruining your mines.
Now I'm sure we've all run into a problem with gravel along the way of making our giant castles. So why would we not hate it? It's the block that keeps on giving, giving you annoyance that is.
IGN: Seelad Age: 15 Reason you want to join: I heard this is a great server from a friend. The factions thing sounds cool. I guess I also want to play a server without a bunch of people whining about how they fell into lava and lost a couple coal(I could understand gold or diamond, but not coal...). Suggestions for the server (if any): Statistics if they are not already in, but they are never necessary just something fun to have. Can you help me solve any of the problems listed above?: No. What is your specialty in Minecraft?: Building. Anything else we should know: No, not really.
Minecraft Username: Seelad
Age: 15
Gender (Male/Female): Male
Country of Residence: United Sates of America
Your Character's Background (Roleplaying)(5 Sent. Min.): I'm Seelad, I wear a suit skin tight enough to allow for quick movement and good flexibility. I was a peasant, no one special at all, in fact the worst of all the peasants in my village. Being such resulted in turning me into a hoarding, greedy person. I stole what I saw and lived off of that.
Till one day... That particular day a merchant was passing through my village, and with a red suit, a very interesting suit. It's quit easy to say that I stole it, and have yet to regret it, but a shinning red suit in the arms of a dusty old merchant, who wouldn't do it? Now aside from that I was caught in the action, I admit I really did screw up, but I manage to keep that suit.
Upon being caught in that action of stealing (A rather high offense despite who it was from.) I was exiled, exiled for live. I left that old village, with little thought to it. After that happened I wondered a small dirt path, stalking behind the merchant I stole from. He--the old merchant-- didn't see what was coming to him next, and I admit I would have never guessed it myself. Minutes after following him a shadow lurked in a nearby hill. It was a thing, so disgusting I cannot explain it in detail. That thing--whatever it was killed that merchant in cold blood. I saw the thing do so in front of my eyes, but little did I know, the merchant was my father. My father whom I've only met once, and was ended with a theft.
Seeing this I swore revenge for my father, I swore I would kill as many as those... things... as I could! Which leads me here, where I am today, siding with a friend; Ashkait in an apocalypse filled with demonic creatures.
An Image of your Character (as you imagine them): A sly person filled with greed, steals anything and hoards everything (abiding by the rules of course!). One who will attempt to create a architectural masterpiece with his hands in preparation of a large scale zombie attack.
Why do you want to join OUR server? (3 Sent. Min.): I would like to role play. This modded server specific for RPing is a great chance to test this out. I would also like to have a challenge of enemies destroying the walls of my fortress and eating my friends... well maybe not eating my friends. I want to play with friends and other people who won't complain about how a zombie or two ruins their day!
What can you bring to the community? (2 Sent. Min.): I can bring my knowledge of tactics. I can form a strategy with my party members creating a (hopefully) stable outpost giving a fortunate economic resources.
Do you have a microphone (Yes/No): No. (sadly!)
Will you be active on our Ventrillo (Yes/No): No.
Have you read all the rules? Lieing will result in perm. denied. (Yes/No): Yes.
Have you read and understood the lore? Lieing will result in perm. denied. (Yes/No): Yes.

Have you downloaded and installed our custom texturepack? (Yes/No): Yes.
Any other information you would like us to know about you: Truly I only hate greifers and abusive administrators. greifers being specific to only those who purposely ruin a building for the joy of seeing reactions, and abusive administrators only refers to ones who use their powers for their personal gain in ranking above honest players for bragging rights.
