Your problem is trying to find tone in a post. And then going with 'tone' instead of what's actually written. Assumptions lead to ignorance. Ignorance leads to hate.
It's very naive to think that way. One's social skill is often based off their ability to assume. Assumption does not always lead to ignorance, but also success and knowledge.
It's not about caring about their feelings it's if you're wasting your time or not. If I see the argument will come up in nothing I just won't bother to engage.
All I'm hearing are a bunch of excuses.
But fine, if this is your way of ending the argument, then I'm all for it.
But.. if you wanna go to 'I won'.. then the people who didn't want the macro spam won. Not you.
Not really. Both Maka and I have made our points, and they are stronger than most everything you came up with.
I haven't engaged with his arguments plenty cause I know there's feelings involved so he won't be objective in them. You don't engage when people are irritated. You engage afterwards if still necessary.

You don't just not reply to someone when they make a point. You reply with the goal of proving a point. If you suddenly don't reply simply because of someone's feelings, then no offence, but that makes you a pushover.

Yes really. Seems like an odd time you just wouldn't "want to engage." Just admit you didn't have a response. This isn't a hate argument where I'll act 10 years old and go, "Teehee! I won you lost!" I just want to prove a point.
