It's kinda the same as Pocket edition. If i'm correct you need to buy the full game of minecraft on the website to play with mods.
Hope this helped you a bit.
if you need more information let me know,
Thanks Wxam. I was afraid it was something like that. So basically, instead of being able to use the normal mods, I would have to buy mods and add-ons from the store similar to Google Play or the Microsoft Store correct? Or are you saying that the version I bought is not the full version, and that I can get the full version instead that will still work with Windows 10?
This version in the picture is different than what I already purchased?
I don't know where to post this so someone please tell me where to go.
I bought my son a new laptop for Christmas with Windows 10. He installed Minecraft, I paid to unlock it, and he then asked me to help him put the Galacticraft mod on it.
So.... I followed a YouTube tutorial and installed Forge 1.12.2 and the 3 mods needed for Galacticraft. I had to research a bit because I didn't have a .minecraft folder. I was able to download an executable launcher file that I was able to then build a .minecraft folder from, which then allowed me to complete the Forge installation. While trying to log in to use it for the first time, I discovered that I never downloaded the full game, and only had the demo version (which might explain why I couldn't find the .minecraft version?) So I downloaded it from my Microsoft Store confirmation email, and it installed itself.
But.... When I open Forge, it only lets me play the demo version. And when I launch Minecraft from the icon created by the installation it takes me to the version I purchased, which shows v1.2.10 in the bottom right corner. And I can't find anything about that version other than something saying it's the pocket edition. Can someone tell me what's going on and what I'm doing wrong?
I'm adding a picture showing it launched from Forge and another from Minecraft shortcut.
