Hey heard you are testing on ecosystems in the fossils and archaeology mod? can i have some more information i am interested
Oh, well what I have done is I've made a super flat world on creative, and then I have created a very large enclosed area with sufficient plants to support a food chain. I then use spawn eggs to get the following number for each of these:
(I didn't use Tyrannosaurus or Spinosaurus yet, and no Gallimimus wasn't added when I started this)
I then let them do whatever they wished to do, killing and eating and breeding. I found that I was able to sustain all of the different species naturally except for Dodo's (They don't breed). That means that I can have an enclosure which includes all of the above creatures, and none of them will go extinct if I leave them be for several months! This is still preliminary but I think that it will continue to work as planned. The herbivores eat the plants and breed, then the carnivore eat the herbivores and breed. Sometimes, a dinosaur will attack something it can't handle. It takes a pack of 3 Velociraptors to kill a Triceratops, and if they attack with less then one of them will be killed. Of course, it isn't perfect, but it is still really amazing! Thanks for your interest.
Omg this is awesome! You are truly a genius. Do some herbivores travel in packs? Did you put trees in the enclosure, are there hills and lakes? Do raptors only attack when hungry? Have you put chickens in the enclosure so the Compsognathus can eat? Or do they eat Dodo's or bigger animals? Did you put in any other mods? How did you start and know this was the right combination? Did you put in prehistoric plants too? Do small Dino's travel with their parents? What Dinosaurs or animals will you be trying to put in next time?
I have tons and tons of other questions, you don't have to answer them all! I hope you continue this project for a long time
Alright, I'll answer them in a 1., 2., etc. form...
1. There is no herding AI, so unfortunately they don't.
2. Yes, there are trees. No hills, but a few small ponds. They just weren't necessary.
3. Yes, the animals only attack when hungry.
4. Compsognathus do attack Dodo's, so I didn't need any chickens!
5. No other mods, just F/A!
6. I just had a good idea of what would be fitting numbers for the different creatures, and I was willing to edit it over time to find the PERFECT combination. It didn't need any editing though!
7. Yes, there were Ferns and Paleoraphes.
8. Well, this was the most interesting thing I found (Although it is probably a bug). The Compsognathus were breeding a lot. Also, Compsognathus usually attack Dodo's. However, I found that a baby Compsognathus was following an adult Dodo! Just like how baby Dodo's/Chickens/Terror Birds follow the adults of their species, this Compsognathus was following the adult that was closest to it at it's birth, which was a Dodo! Other than that one time I haven't seen it happen at all though. So probably just a glitch.
9. Next time? I think that I'll just add on to this one for now.Once it's big enough I might increase the populations manually a bit or add some large Carnivores. But for now I think it
s fine!
If you have more questions, I'd be glad to answer them!

Dodo: 50
Compsognathus: 10
Triceratops: 4
Stegosaurus: 2
Pachycephalosaurus: 3
Velociraptor: 10
Deinonychus: 3
Dilophosaurus: 2
Ankylosaurus: 2

If you have more questions, I'd be glad to answer them!
1. I like science, and I thought that this would be an awesome personal science project. And it sure is!
2. Compsognathus, by far!
3. Compsognathus eat Dodo's still, but what I do is I go around and pick up all the eggs the Dodo's lay and smash those. It seems to work, so far!
4. Very big, I'll give you the exact dimensions when I can.
5. Ferns are their favourite, then leaves. They also really like flowers.
6. That's the only bug I've observed so far... I'll keep you posted.
7. They lay eggs where ever they are when they breed, nothing special about it.
If you want the world download, I could send you it. Thanks for the questions! I'm still open to more.
Alright, might take me a day or two. If it takes more then remind me, please!
That's my problem... I don't have that much time!
