I have a computer with half of these specs and it records fine, but to answer your question yes you will be able to record with 30FPS i think you might even be able to record with 60FPS
It will get rid of any alienware crap that came pre-installed on your computer it's hardly a tragedy, you will also lose the rest of the files so back up any photos etc. You will need install the latest graphics drivers though to replace the one windows automatically installs.

my brothers going to college next year and wants to buy a laptop now to be prepared, a half decent laptop for around 600 or so is what he's looking into. doesnt want it to be hot, gaming on minecraft, runescape, bf3 and bioshock. he'll need a cooling pad too if you can find one.
