I get it whilst walking to the point that you can be only 5 or 6 blocks away before it loads in front of you. It isn't pretty and the previous method did NOT slow my game down one iota. Its not just the looks either. I actually ran into a mountain the other day and it wasn't until I was right at the base of it that I realised it was even there.
That's an entirely different issue. The problem with transparent terrain like that is a rendering glitch, not a chunk loading glitch. For example, I can be on a cart track that i can see continues into the distance, but there will be transparent terrain below it that fills in as soon as I pass over.
The one advantage of NOT destroying the spawner is that you might be able to make a loot grinder out of it. If you build a general mob grinder, though, you'll never be short on mob droppings. At that point, the only advantage to NOT destroying it is saving a use on your pick.
He's not a liar, even though minecraft.net is down, the new client logs in just fine.
The problem isn't connecting with the client. It's after the login screen when you connect to a MP server. When the server attempts to connect to minecraft.net to verify your existing login it fails.
And no, filing a chargeback isn't fraid. Selling a product that doesn't work is fraid.
Filing a chargeback is fraud if you got what you paid for. Which you did. The problem is you didn't know what you were paying for, and that's entirely your fault.
Now, you're either a troll or you're being obtuse. Either way, I'm glad to put you on ignore.

Gtfo. If I pay for something, I expect it to work flawlessly. Minecraft is down every other day.
The problem is with your expectations, not Minecraft. IgnoreList++
It doesn't matter that I paid for beta software, I paid for software and I expect it to at least work. If it was a few bugs, then fine, but not working completely is unexceptable. And no attempt at all to fix it in well over 5 hours is also unexceptable. If he wanted to released buggy software that doesn't work, then he shouldn't be charging for it. The fact is I paid for a product, and that product doesn't work, so now Notch doesn't get my money. It is a simple concept, and how the world works.
I think the reason it's not obvious to anybody but you is because it doesn't seem like it would get back to the top. That's a quark of the physics but it's still really, really awesome and I will probably use it fairly often once I need to get to other bases.
good work.
When I read this I facepalmed because I realized how close I was to achieving this. I actually had my booster cart going up and over the track just like that. I've also had it on my mind to make a booster with a door dropping a cart, but never put the two together ><
It's not actually part of my let's play series, but I felt like sharing it here. This is a tour of some of the things I've been working on in an SMP server.
Also, my 15 minute limit has been removed, so I'm now wondering how I should continue the series. I was using the 15-minute breakdown to create "installments", where each episode (a single sitting) can span any number of installments. Do you guys think I should continue this or would you rather see the full continuous episodes?
I don't think any kind of strip mining is efficient, though i'm being pedantic. Branch/grid mining is the best way to go, imo (think full suit of diamond armor in a couple days). Here's a vertical cross section of my mining operation that exposes the face of every block of material except :Red:. The chances of a vein spawning only in the red blocks is fairly small. Furthermore, the number of new blocks exposed for each block you break more than compensates.

That was just notch going "om nom nom" while he was demonstrating eating on his streamed video. It's not on any of the other vids.

Yes it does.

BTW: I think you meant troll. Since there were already threads on the topic, you're closer to a spammer than he is.

FWIW this just happened in the last 10 mins...

Why would you do that rather than playing via the website like so many people have said still works?
I only see one person arguing in favor of chargebacks (who is now on my ignore list)... everyone else is telling them they're an idiot.

Or, you know, a bunch of people who normally don't post on the forums suddenly can't access the game and are coming to find a solution...

Come back when you grow up.

is a tunnel, as if you're looking down it. I put floor with a corridor between each level. Like this from the top down:
Floor 1 ( = floor )
Floor 2
Floor 3
Edit: I think this might illustrate it better:
