Eh, if there ever was an actual "Story Mode" added, I think it would work best if there was no actual narrative; just some set pieces and sequences of events that the players would be free to interpret as whatever they thought was most appropriate. I've heard of other games doing something similar in the past, and I think it might be possible with Minecraft.
True, but look at the suggestion more closely. You can still eat other stuff. He's not
saying that if you don't eat your craving food you'll die or get some negative
potion effect. He's just saying that that particular food item might be slightly more
effective for you than normal.
It's not FORCING you to eat a specific food.
Ah, I get it.
Now it kinda sounds even more pointless; I doubt anyone would waste inventory slots to carry other food types on the off chance that one of them will give them an HP boost, they would probably just pick a decent stack of one kind of food and completely ignore the craving until it landed on whatever food they were carrying.
Here's MY idea.
Endstone is a made up item. As in its not irl. so I think that opens up allot of ideas.
Endstone, should be smelted to make an endstone ash. Endstone ash should be mixed with a bucket of lava, and a bucket of water (gives back the buckets) to make Endstone obsidian. (optional) Endstone obsidian is then Smelted, to make an Endstone Obsidian Ingot. Which is then used to make armor and tools. The sticks for the Endstone pickaxes should be blaze rods, to make it a little bit rarer. This way, You have got to go to the end in order to create it.
Endstone tools should be as fast as an efficiency 1 diamond tools, but only last about 3 fourths as long.
If this happens, The obsidian pillars in the end, should be endstone obsidian.
The endstone obsidian, should not be able to be mined without and endstone pickaxe.
You didn't read my whole post. I already mentioned that. Once you do have a Diamond Pickaxe, you have an endless supply of Obsidian for the duration of your Pickaxe's lifetime, which, by the way, is a freaking long time, especially if you use it only for mining Obsidian.
You really think so? If you try finding obsidian and iron both naturally obsidian is more uncommon. Sure you can make obsidian but that requires iron buckets and lava and water so it's not really that common.
Obsidian proper isn't always found in mass quantites, but Lava is literally found in large pools, which can be easily cooled into Obsidian by either using a bucket to place a water source block or by using extra blocks in your inventory to raise the flow of a nearby water source so it flows over the lava. Basically:
Lava = common
Lava = Obsidian
=> Obsidian = common.
Either way, it's still much more common than Iron, so again, it should not be stronger than Iron. Granted, you need a Diamond pickaxe to get it, but it's still very easy to obtain in mass quantities, so making items crafted from it more powerful than items of greater rarity would be imbalanced.

It might have been part of a larger post; I know they were separate on GetSatisfaction.

This... makes no sense.

Besides, now more people can get good enchantments than just just people who dedicate their gameplay to mob grinding.
