This would be a little game-breaking because those block types are already craftable from multiple blocks and making them from a single block would be a huge profit. Besides, as others have mentioned, it would take up a bunch of block ID's to do.
I'm fairly certain Notch and Jeb have already stated hostile mobs will not be tameable ever. Any mobs that would be tameable would be specially made for the event, like horses, wolves, or cats.
Though holy water as a splash-damage weapon against undead might work in a DnD/Fantasy RPG mod, but probably not Vanilla.
TNT already has a much higher blast radius than Creepers, and most hostiles already chase you, so it would be just as easy to lure mobs within range of TNT as it would to sic a Creeper on them, maybe even a bit easier.
Meh, I think it would just be better to have a jukebox minecart like others have mentioned.
Letting Jukeboxes hold multiple discs you can select to play and even having loop/shuffle/playlist functions would be nice, too, though it would probably be best for someone to write a mod for it then see if Mojang would want to add it to the main game.
I'm sorry to say, but if you want to play an arcade game, close Minecraft and go play it.
Problems.
1. Having a game inside a game would be hard to get detailed work
2. Having a strong enough computer to even play both at once if it is detailed
It wouldn't be that hard, it would just temporarily close the main game and load the minigame instead, then return you to the main game when you quit. It's not hard, it's not new, and it's not as cool as it sounds.
It's not a new idea, and has been done before in tons of other games. TONS. Usually this sort of thing is meant to provide the player with some form of reward upon completion or reaching a certain high score, like a story-relevant item or one of those bonus items you really don't need and probably would only go through the trouble of playing the minigame in the first place to win it in order to get that 100% completion rating. More often than not, you'll bore of it moments after you've beaten it and gotten the reward you were looking for and never play it again unless you're doing another playthrough thus requiring you to obtain that item again.
Wood is too common a material; under the right conditions you could potentially make a wood Golem before you could make a chest (i'm assuming the recipie invovles 4 logs and a pumpkin or something similar). Also, and this is personal, Golems aren't traditionally made out of wood or organic materials, with the exception of flesh, bone, and demon Golems (which are all abominations anyway). A Golem wouldn't be all that fast, so it wouldn't be able to follow you all that well. If it can't keep up with you, what's the point? They'll just become targets for mobs and players who want to steal from you. Also, I think it would take a lot of coding to make it so right clicking certain surfaces of the Golem does different things, I mean I can't think of any other mob that has that feature so your suggesting a entirely new mechanic on top of a new mob.
I'm fairly certain at least one version of D&D has some form of wood golem, especially if a Wicker Man counts.I like this idea, but they should be weak, cowardly, and unable to deal damage to make up for their being made of common materials. You wouldn't be able to benefit too much from having an army of these unless you're fond of keeping your stuff in a small storage space that won't sit still and has no labeling on it in addition to being one of several.
Hello newcomer and welcome to the forums. Please note the "quote" button located at the bottom of every post; if you click on it, you can keep a copy of a comment you wish to respond to in the post you respond with (much like I have done here) in order to make it clear to all to whom and to what you are responding. Please remember this in the future, as it will be essential to your future on the forums!
On another note, I apologize if my comment offended you. I have been playing video games for a good portion of my life, and intend to eventually have a career in game design, so I do tend to hold a high standard for content suggestions. I can be rather caustic at times, but I don't intend harm to anyone (that isn't deliberately making moronic posts to annoy forum-goers), rather I intend my criticism to point out flaws in ideas so they may be improved in the future.
