It was mentioned in the "Hiring new Writers" thread a bit ago that he left for bigger opportunities, or something like that. Don't remember the specifics, but it was something like that.

And that quote is misinformed and incorrect. Advancements replace achievements, thus being a "Main game thing". Advancements can be used by mapmakers, but Advancements effect the vanilla game as well. However, the vanilla game advancements will not be limiting or linear.

I found that out eventually, but I still prefer the original achievement tree. Also the message you quoted was a reply to some guy saying that Advancements were a map-maker feature only to every single person on page one.

No, it replaces the original achievements completely. It's a main game thing.

I agree. Notch's original vision for Achievements was that they wouldn't be grind tasks, but more of markers to show your progress/accomplishments (At least I think that's what it was). I'm sincerely hoping that the default or vanilla or first or whatever tab for advancements would in fact be the original achievement tree, and not some new grind-based tree.

I thoroughly enjoy versions above 1.8. I find the combat in versions above 1.8 much better than the system in previous versions, but more importantly, the added content. Also, versions below 1.7 can be enjoyed as well. Nobody can objectively say that specific versions are "the best version" and that no other version is good.

I'm hoping they keep the original Achievement tree as one of the Advancement tabs, or maybe the default one. Also, I feel Advancements might make Minecraft vanilla more linear, depending on the path they take with it

Why do people have to be so negative about everything nowadays? Like, instead of "Hey, this is a neat house design, it's pretty simple and uses pretty basic materials" people are all like "Ew, Clickbait, Grain sucks, this isn't news, even though there is very little news to actually report on, ugh!"

Well it's not really clickbait if you deliver on your promise in the title and the thumbnail. Though the EASY! and the red arrow could be a little bit misleading looking, the house design is pretty simple, which could account as being "easy"... and he explains how to build the house design very thoroughly, and it is made of basic materials, so it's a starter house. In this case, it could be called "clickbait" but it leaves you satisfied.

Well, according to wikipedia: "It inhabits tropical forest, thorn forest, mangrove swamps and savanna" so I guess they SHOULD spawn in savannas, maybe swamps too.

If it's on PS3, chances are the missiles your building are for PC only due to the mechanic known as quasi-connectivity which is an exclusive PC feature. (Or bug, if your that kind of person) It's where pistons are powered diagonally and through air blocks on occasion, as well as being unable to update instantly when powered in such a way. Basically, most flying machines use this mechanic to power the missiles. Due to PS3's different code, quasi-connectivity doesn't exist, rendering many, if not all flying machines useless in that version of the game.

I like this, I guess. Don't see any reason not to add, it'd be pretty cool for an artificial sky. But the way you describe it seems more like an X-ray block. also, TeamDomin8r, you get barriers via the command /give @p barrier

You can try doing "/gamerule doMobSpawning false" on easy/normal/hard mode, that will pretty much give you want you want. Make sure to enable cheats first, and a little warning: Animals except for like the first few in the world generation won't spawn after you enable this, so I guess make sure not to kill any animals until you breed them

Please make your own thread for that, this is about the Curse launcher and the new Minecraft launcher, the problem you are having isn't related to that in any way...

The Ores without armor and tools have their own specific uses to compensate: Lapis is the enchanting/blue dye, Redstone is the electricity, Coal is the furnace fuel and Emerald is the currency. Nothing more, nothing less...

Which is why I suggested to look for an option inside the curse launcher to change it back, and if that doesn't work, use the FTB legacy launcher, which I'm pretty sure FTB is what the curse launcher uses for modpacks

Try using the official original launcher, instead of the curse launcher. There is a new version of the Minecraft launcher, but I think the original is still downloadable from the website, minecraft.net. The curse launcher may be using the new launcher, which is still in development.
On the other hand, there could be an option within the curse launcher to use the original Minecraft launcher, but
I'm unsure of that. If there isn't any, you can also try downloading the FTB legacy launcher which might also work

Your making sure not to touch the really hot parts, I guess

But I'm pretty sure you could always sneak to avoid damage on them... the only change to magma blocks so far is to allow jump-sneaking on them, instead of only sneaking to avoid damage...

They will always have the same enchantments, the only way to change them is to enchant something. If there's no enchantments to your liking, I recommend enchanting a garbage item like wood shovels to reset the enchantments.

I first discovered this game in a car ride home from elementary school, listening to my brother whom we picked up from middle. He explained this fascinating game about digging and making things called "Minecraft", which his friend told him about. I had never seen or heard of this game, so to compensate, I imagined this game as a My-Sims game that took place underground. Soon after, my brother purchased the game. If I remember correctly, the game was in it's Beta 1.5 version or something very close. When he created a world, it was not what I expected. We didn't know how to play at all. We got the basic controls in due time, so when we decided to start mining, we went for a grass block. Naturally, we thought, to mine this we need to use the left click mouse button. So we did. And nothing happened, except a quick flash of black cracking. We were on to something. We rapidly clicked the block, making the cracks slowly advance, but reset after a bit. We gave up, thinking it was impossible, at least with bare hand. So I suggested, "There's a pickaxe, right? Maybe we have to find it!" Our attention drew to a cave entrance. At this point I had began to think that this game was similar to Zelda, in which major items where hidden in specific predetermined locations. I thought "The Pickaxe" was located in the nearby cave. After going into the cave, we realized it was far too dark to find what we sought after. So we exited, to find a light source to bring within, when night fell upon us. It was during this night that we died. (As far as I remember, we died to a Zombie and actually avoided the Creepers, thanks to the friend who started this all in the first place)

Slimes will spawn at their best if you separate each layer with 2.5 blocks, (use top slabs as platforms) and at lighting above 7. also light up as many caves as you possibly can, as there is a hostile mob cap for areas, and it is best to only allow for slimes only. Stand a good 30 blocks away from the edge of the chunk and afk for about 10 minutes to an hour, and you should have at least one slime in there. Please take note that slimes may not spawn within torches or on glowstone, or any transparent full block. (I'm not sure of the validity of that statement, but it's best to be safe, but top slabs do work)

I had the same problem once, but it was all fixed when I reinstalled Minecraft on the XBOX completely... (it was very frustrating having to wait for hours to update minecraft again every time I wanted to play, as even when it was up-to-date, the next time I played, it'd ask me to update again, if I denied it'd revert) I'm pretty sure you still keep your save files though.
