You know, you don't need mod powers to make a constructive, pertinent post or to simply ignore a thread that you don't believe warrants a response.
But you do need mod powers to encourage the making of constructive, pertinent posts as well as the ignoring of threads that they don't believe warrants a response. Right now, it does not seem like this is happening too often.
Of course there is stupid people on the forum. This is the internet, and what's the use trying to stop it? That's like trying to make everyone in the world stop using drugs, people will obviously still do it. Despite my shitty simile.
The point of the thread, as I take it, is to encourage LESS stupidity. I've used the tactic before, and it's rather effective in my opinion. You start mixing in more professional and intelligent posts to counteract the opposite, and soon it's almost as if you're peer pressuring posters to amp up the quality before posting.
Of course, there is always a few rotten eggs, and it takes discipline not to react poorly to them, but with time, I (almost) sincerely believe there is a [ghost of a/poor/fat/decent, you choose] chance that we'll have a better environment on MCF.
We probably would've stayed, but the Administration went and alienated us be closing our little community down.
Yeah, pretty much this. Instead of really discussing anything with us, they just kinda shut the chat thread down and then we left after a bit of squabble. Then, later, they allow chat threads...?
Ahem, anyways, a bit off topic, Dig, even if First Generation posters do know what's up.
I'm afraid that these forum aren't the way they used to be.
I used to moderate these forums a while ago, before the extermination (And later, the reviving) of the Chat thread. I was booted from the team because I was also a member of the place AI had mentioned, and the team assumed that I would spy on their adminny discussions (paranoid buggers.) In that time, I've been thinking of the natural cycle of forums that I can think of. It's cool at the start, everyone is friends, but as soon as things start becoming more popular, more heads butt, and then such an air of unkindness and hostility is made.
So far, this is exactly what has happened to MCF. Stupidity is a given if it's a website on the internet, but the way it has been handled here is... well, dissapointing. Sorry, mod team, I needed to say it. I was a member of you guys a while ago, and I think it's fair that I give criticism.
I fully support you, Crontic, though using less harsh language would be appreciated.
As a veteran player who took a big hiatus because he didn't realise Skype lagged Minecraft, I came back to find that all of the sounds are incredibly gruesome and terrible to listen to. What's with the godawful crunching of bones? Why do the doors sound heavier than they look? What's with that weird-ass eating sound?
I left.
Plain and simple as that.
I left because I couldn't stand being here anymore.
I'm sorry if I'm dissapointing/angering anyone by not continuing J-E.
It's never gonna go away in my heart, it's already influnced too much of myself
I might even do a J-ERedux somewhere, I dunno. I'm on pesterchum/steam in the meantime, if you wanna talk
thrashedSharkbait, thricePeriods, silentnails and dormantVenom on Pesterchum, and "Balcony Statue" on steam.

Considering it's handled right, you know.

Is there a way to possibly...
Bring back the older ones via soundpack?
If so, how would I do that? What would I need?
