I don't really get the whole 13 year old, on your own thing. I didn't realize it was so cliché. Now I am considering changing my backstory. In my opinion I looked at my backstory more realistic, considering I didn't train to kill a whole bandit village at the age of 14.
If someone can take the time to read my backstory, can you care to give me some feedback? I have been using that story for RPs for a while now . . .
I would suggest adding some events in between you being 19 and speed your story up to you being older, perhaps 30. maybe having him start living on his own later too like 16. This is totally up to you and feel free to do whatever you want. :biggrin.gif:

Feb 12, 2011andrejolicoeur posted a message on [16x] Jolicraft ~ JOLICRAFT HD!!! (Bedrock only for now)Posted in: Resource PacksJOLICRAFT HD!!!(Bedrock only, but Java version coming soon-ish!)
My name is Jolicoeur, so I called it Jolicraft. It's pronounced "Jolly Craft" by the way. My name means "Happy Heart", so I guess Jolicraft means "Happy Craft". So maybe I should have called it HappyCraft, because I'm generally quite happy. But I'm not always happy. Sometimes I run out of wine. Sometimes there's no hot water for my bath. Sometimes when I'm changing my son's diaper, he pees on me.Minecraft is a game about crafting the world around you. What better way to craft the world than to craft the very stuff the world is made of? I had a great time creating Jolicraft, it's so addictive to create textures and see them live in your own world. I didn't really intend to push the pack as far as I did, but damn this [profanity=""] is addictive. It's as addictive as Minecraft itself, which is saying alot. This is Minecraft people. As with life, don't take it too seriously. A good plentiful helping of Jolicraft will wash the dust away from your dreary world. Why did you make this 16x16? Wouldn't it be awesomer if it was 32x32 or 128x128 or 1080x1080?I love 16p texture packs. It seems the perfect resolution to match the style of Minecraft. The purposefully crude low-res pixel crafting nature of the game was simply made for 16x16 textures, anything more just feels weird - like drinking red wine while eating hotdogs. Which Notch does every morning at the breakfast table. Although I'm sure one day I'll be bored and play around with a 32x32 version, just for the fun of it.Can you please add more sidegrass?Let me explain why this is almost no sidegrass on Jolicraft dirt. I like sidegrass in many texture packs. Sometimes it works and looks great for the type of grass & dirt they've created. But Jolicraft dirt is different. It's firm and scoopable. The grass is a thin layer on top of the dirt, so more sidegrass makes no sense as it either makes the grass layer feel thicker than I want or it makes the thin grass all droopy. Think of my dirt like cake with icing on top, so when you scoop through it the grass doesn't instantly hang down the side, it stays firm. And the grass overhangs just a tiny bit to cast a slight shadow down the side of the dirt. It's that crisp edge that makes Jolicraft dirt different from other dirt. It's not that I'm against sidegrass in general, just sidegrass in Jolicraft.I asked you to change a texture and you didn't. What gives?I'm sorry. You had good intentions in suggesting a change, but I didn't care for it. Don't be angry! I don't care for lots of stuff that other people like. And I care for lots of things that other folk don't like. And I'm neutral to things that many people aren't neutral to. What a world! Does that answer your question?I'm making my own pack or map, and I want to use a texture from your pack. Can I?I get lots of requests from folks asking if they can use specific textures in their packs and maps. I don't mind if you use any of my textures, help yourself and enjoy! But I just ask that if you do use something I've made that you state somewhere in your thread what you used of mine, and include a link to this thread via the Jolicraft logo (http://img607.images.../5724/sig5f.png). And I STRONGLY encourage you to not rely on anything I've made. Making a few textures doesn't take long. It's much more satisfying to create something original than to rely on someone else's creations. Wouldn't you agree? What's wrong with you?Once when I was young I pushed a toothpick into my ear and it went all the way in and didn't come out. I've not been quite right since then.

This isn't a really complicated topic, but it's worth discussing a little. There's a lot of information in the equipment list too. Bring logs, not planks. Diamond tools, only one bucket of each liquid, making everything you can as you go so it isn't taking up space until you run out. The only important factor that hasn't been explained is taking the time to smelt iron once you have more than two stacks. At that point, you're guaranteed to save an inventory slot after smelting metals and converting to blocks. You'll also want to convert lapis to blocks.
Using cobblestone as dead-end markers will also save you inventory space. If you aren't out to mine much coal or redstone, you can use those tricks to spend afternoons down there without running out of space. But if you are out to mine all the minerals you see, you might want a mini-base.
If you need to travel far for caves and you want to bring back everything in them, you might want to construct a base within the cave. An ideal spot has plenty of room but few entrances.
In the forward base, you probably want to place a bed. Much better than writing down the coordinates of the entrance and running for your stuff across the overworld. Aside from the obvious furnaces and chests, you might want to set up a small farm or two. Wheat, melons, potatoes, and carrots are all good. Carrots are unique in that they can be planted directly in their edible state, saving inventory space. Melons and mushrooms are poor choices, but they can be found underground if you're running out of food.
If you're in for the REALLY long haul, or you think you might die and lose all your wood, bring a sapling (not pine, pine sucks for farming) and read this article. If you plan on using a tree farm, look for a place with a lot of headroom for your base. Ditto with a bonemeal-based mushroom farm.
FINDING GOOD CAVES
If you're playing the current version of Minecraft, all you need to do to find good caves is find a cave, usually. The newest terrain generator makes great caves everywhere. But I actually wish there were fewer caves. It used to be that you could completely explore a system. Now, caves seem to make up an infinite network and I never get that satisfaction of finishing one off.
Sailing at Night
You wouldn't think hanging around the ocean at night would be a good way to find caves, but it is, especially for mineshafts. The ocean is much easier to look through when it's dark out. Look for collapsed sand. If you're sailing in shallow water, you might actually hear the water flowing into the cave. If there's light coming from it, you've probably spotted a mineshaft. See weird blocks of air scattered through the water? It's a bug that occurs above mineshafts. Just remember that caves under ocean without much nearby land will be have more monsters because there is nowhere else to spawn.
Eyes and ears
I keep my ears open for cave noises, flowing water, and monster calls. Headphones, good stereo, or surround sound will make it easier to pinpoint where the monster is. When you're in a cave and you think you have it explored but hear monsters, dig for them. Remember that there is no way to tell by ear if they are above or below you. This is a good way to find dungeons. They are usually quite noisy.
Simple enough. Dig deep and start a branch mine on lava level (F3 will read 11 for X at the right elevation), and listen for cave sounds, monsters, or the sound of water or lava. Or just dig straight into one by accident. That happens often enough, and the systems you find this way are usually very deep and rich.
Mapping Utilities Don't know of any good ones for the current version, sorry
I used to use Cartograph G, but last time I checked, it wasn't updated for the newest update. Not sure if it works. But anyway, if you can find a mapping program with a cave mode, you can compare the cave images with a surface image of the same area, and find unique systems that way.

A beta for Minecraft 1.5.2 has been released on the latest Forge version as of 12th May 2013. Beta will be updated every 2 - 5 days, keep an eye on the post to keep updated if you want. Full release estimated for mid to late May. Please report any bugs via PM, via this post, or via the forums. I keep up downloads of previous versions and changelogs here: http://zidmc.x10.bz/...ions/index.html
If you'd rather not download the beta version (it's actually very stable and awesome), then links for Minecraft 1.4.6/1.4.7 are available below. That download will require ML for 1.4.7. Please don't report any bugs - there's lots of them in that version, but almost all are fixed in the 1.5.2 beta, so I'm focusing on that.
Forums are offline at the moment while I get this beta working. Expect a new forum to be made under a new URL soon.
I highly recommend reading this spoiler; I spoiled because it was just way too long. It has lots of info on the 1.5.2 beta.

Another update out for the beta; lots of content available in this one. No video yet, though, as I want to go through another couple beta versions before making another video.
Once again, it requires Minecraft Forge (it was written on the latest release as of May 12th).
The server on g-oogle.net is running the new beta already.

Both ways to get the content are fine, and I will be keeping both running.
For those of you who have played the popular game Team Fortress 2 before, you probably know what a HUGE DEAL hats are. When you're deep into the trading market like I am, they become even more important.
Recently, I was browsing a TF2 trading website. I found a particular post which stated 'why doesn't someone mod crates, keys, and hats into Minecraft?'. I thought this was a brilliant idea, so I went ahead and did it. This is the result.
This modification ('mod') to Minecraft adds a multitude of new features which are designed to enrich and enhance the game's experience. I'll list all the new features below.
This mod will:
- Add a collection of crates to the game, from which items can be extracted.
- Add keys to the game, which can be used to unbox items from crates.
- Add a collection of new pieces of headgear, collectively known as The Hats.
- Allow crates to have a very small chance of dropping an Unusual Hat, which is just like an ordinary hat, but with a particle effect.
- Adds some new functionality and weapons to the game, with the intent of replicating certain other elements of TF2 (strange weapons that track kills, more projectile and bullet-based weapons).
This may seem well and good, but you might be asking yourself 'how does this work?'.
Upon your death in TF2, you have a small chance of receiving a crate or another item. Keys can then be bought from the store to unbox these crates. Since I in no way want to profit from other people's creations, I have created this implementation so that crates and keys both have a chance of dropping.
What exactly are the chances? Crates have a 20% chance of dropping every five minutes. Keys have a 5% chance. This seemed close enough to the Key:Crate ratio in TF2.
As for unboxing, the logic behind that is slightly more complicated. In general, you will receive a normal item which could be achieved in-game easily. However, you also have a 2% chance of unboxing an Unusual Hat. It took me 33 tries exactly to get my first legitimate unusual, so I can vouch for their rarity.
There are many unusuals available, but some are currently not unboxable except at Halloween. Once I finish non-Halloween effects, there will be over 20 different hats. There are currently around 10 + 10 Halloween-only.
Pics or no download.
Hopefully, a video will suffice. This video was recorded on the 1.5.2 beta, things look very different in the 1.4.6/1.4.7 release.

The new demo.
Less Meta, More Mod!
Happy to oblige! The current version of this mod is version 2.1.0. It includes 11 crates and many obtainable unusual hats (now over 100!)
The client is using a mod called UnlimitedSpritesAPI, which is bundled in the download. All credit goes to Leow_Pinheiro (http://www.minecraft.../#entry20227414).
Client Supporter Download (adf.ly, just if you want to help me out): Here!
Installation for Client: Install ModLoader and then my Client. My MLMP brand and the Sprite API are bundled.
Server Supporter Download (again, adf.ly, direct link below): Here!
Installation for Server: Install my server - don't delete META-INF.
The Server List
Want to find a Hat Fortress server? Operational servers running the latest version of the mod can be found here. Note that they may not be 24/7, which means that you might have to try a few to find the one you want!
- Ziddia's Semi-Official Hat Fortress Server - g-oogle.net (should be very close to 24/7)
Due to people telling me 'YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY TAKE DONATIONS FOR THIS ZID' I've opened up a Paypal account, which is something I should have done ages ago anyway but whatever. Donations over Steam in TF2 items are also absolutely acceptable and encouraged (I can turn the items into money for the forums and such anyway).
If you want to donate, you can donate to the forums, or to me personally. Donations to the forums will be used to help keep up my websites, and the HF2 forums, and donations to me buy my coffee.
If you want to donate to the forum, click here.
If you want to donate to me, click here.
Donors will receive a reward of ANY 3 items of their choice in the server. Make sure to add your Minecraft username to the notes.
How can I help?
You'll be helping if you just post here, express your happiness or dislike, and give me some tips on how to make it better! However, if you want to help out in development, you can help me make a hat or come up with contents for the next crate series. To help with a hat, post with pictures and/or textures as you want them to be. If your hat is selected, it will have a side-note stating that it was created by you (with your username). To help with crate drops, just post ideas here.
You can also help by adding pictures to the gallery. Even if you just want to show off all your insane amount of crates and keys, or you want everyone to see the awesome unusual you just found, post a pic, and I'll add it in.
- Collectionshower - main graphic designer, creator of hats such as the Goo Collection, the Tuxedo, and the Bot-A-Hat
- Arkoonius - hat designer, creator of hats such as the Warsworn, Football, and Front Runner
- Nexonoid - hat designer, creator of hats such as the Battery Bandolier, Robot Running Man, and U-Clank-A
Dem Tags - Trading?
Trading is now on the way, as soon as I find a copy of MLMP for 1.8.1.
End of the non-spoiler line
Note that a lot of the stuff underneath this portion is outdated as of the 1.5.2 beta, but current for 1.4.6/1.4.7 release. I will be updating this for 1.5.2 as soon as the beta is over.
For those who want to avoid spoilers, I really hope you enjoy this! I've put a fair amount of thought into this, and I tried to make it as enjoyable as I could. Please post bugs and basically whatever you want below. Really, even if you just say 'I love this mod!', it makes me want to continue it.
Currently, there are roughly 20 variations of unusuals obtainable - ones for the majority of hats. Some of these (such as the Witch's Hat) are only obtainable with certain effects (in this case, only Halloween effects).
There are simply too many hats to list. I will be making a wiki as soon as is possible.
Unusual effects are:
- Blizzardy Storm
- Nuts n Bolts (select hats)
- Stormy Storm
- Full Moon (unreleased)
- Massed Flies
- Green Energy (not unboxable yet)
- Purple Energy (not unboxable yet)
- Bleeding Moon
- Eerie Burning Flames
- Cauldron Bubbles
There are currently twelve crates spanning 11 series available. All crates have a 2% chance to unbox an unusual. Crates from 10 and up (excluding 11) include Strange weapons, rather than normal ones.
You can currently craft a large variety of hats in HF2. These can be crafted using a Hat Crafting Token, which is itself crafted like so:
#X# (where # is Refined Metal and X is a key)
Notice: Any Tokens crafted prior to the recipe change have turned Vintage (there are around a full stack of them in existence on the server).

Thanks to Minecrafted on Youtube for this!

Hoping to get a video out soon.
While not a 'spoiler', I think that some people may want to discover these on their own.
I'll be adding to this as I make them and get good screens.

Here is a link to the paint plans for this build:
/\ /\:::::UPDATE:::::/\ /\
Firstly; I know that this building is and has been popular amongst MineCraft players and builders since the beginning. So all props, once again, go out to each of you who have either finished or abandoned their own particular variation on the challenge. The following is simply my take, in my fashion, with my artistic license, and my personal preferences for play method. I am in no way intending to one-up anyone's work... I just happen to like big challenges and tough circumstances with no short-cuts.
This is my second attempt at this project. My first failed attempt is chronicled: HERE
Here is the goal:
Here is a page of [Google Images]of the structure.
It has taken almost a month from when I abandoned the first attempt to reach the point where a second 'restart' thread was in order.
Lessons learned from failure:
1) Absolutely HAD to have one mod; a height limit adjuster... the Main Tower is 155 blocks high.
2) Need to draw a complete set of plans before even selecting a place to build.
3) Monster Defenses (fences, torches, temp-houses and workshops built of stone not dirt) need to be a higher priority.
4) MASSIVE amounts of wool will be required so a huge farm is needed(4-6 times the size of first attempt).
5) A 300+ length means that much of the action will be a LONG LONG ways from the craftsmens' village, so a railway is needed (I know nothing of rails).
FIRST STEP: Find dimensions / plans to work from
I found a guy who built this structure out of legos, and after a few emails back and forth we negotiated a deal on a physical copy of the plans that he created and used. The plans are too big to scan, so they had to be photocopied at a blueprint shop and mailed to me. I do not believe that I purchased rights to post or distribute the plans, so I've taken a few concept photos of them that are just low res enough to not be used by anyone else.
On his website four of the smaller of the elevations. Here is one:
This is a direct linked jpg so I'm not worried about copyright on this one.
You can contact the creator of these plans [HERE]if you would like a set of your own. FYI, he has plans done in square grid graph paper, for about 60 or so historical castles. I plan to build a few of them from his plans over time.
NEXT STEP: MineCraft Plans
From the Lego Plans, I extrapolated a set of my own in MS Paint... The scale is appx 1block = 1ft.
These are just the outside walls, the interior walls and the courtyard are yet to be translated.
From the four exterior wall elevations (as well as the lego plan for the layout) I created what I call a footprint
These are my creation and you are welcome to them.
Step 3: Create a world and find a place to build
This particular height limit adjustment mod makes you spawn at the top of the sky... that means I needed to keep creating worlds until I found one that spawned me withing 7-8 blocks of deep water so that I could 'fly sideways' on the way down and not spawn-fall-splat-rinse-repeat.
The foot print of this structure including the approach ramp is 308 X 128. For those of you who play in MC edit or whatever the mod is that creates flat featureless worlds to build on... 308 X 128 is fantastically HUGE according to the map generator. I created around 40-45 maps before I found one that had BOTH a spawn by deep water, and anything approaching a flat and dry spot that size. But, I'm a stubborn you know what, so I stuck it out till I found one.
Here is a map screenshot:
As you can see, the back two corners are hanging over a river and a sea that will have to be filled in at some point.
STEP 4: Clear the land
It just so happens that the entire footprint was covered in trees that will all have to be cut down. Here are a before and after shot of clearing the first third of the foot print taken from a 128 block tall pillar:
In order to clear that many trees I had to build little woodcutter's huts spread around the forest, so I wouldnt have to keep running 200+ blocks back to the bass every night:
There are four of them scattered around in the pillar pic above but they are hard to see. Look for the 20 block tall dirt pillars that I built right next to each hut so that I could find it in the trees.
Yeah, some may say that cutting down ~800 trees so far and another 2000+ to go seems like grinding, but I will probably use at least that much wood in a project this size anyway. Besides, the trees are NOTHING... its the earth moving that is going to get grindy
STEP 5: Get stoned.
Although Neuschwanstein Castle is mostly white (wool), the gatehouse foundations are block and the gatehouse towers and the two courtyards are grey stone. I will be building the gatehouse first (and then moving all storage / workshops etc into it). The towers alone will require about 1700 blocks of smooth stone each... so its time to start the mining ops:
This is the diagonal drop shaft that goes from ground level all the way to lvl 17 (will mine down there from 17 down to 1). From the shaft alone, I have been able to generate enough cobble and make enough stone blocks to build the gatehouse foundations.
Remember all those trees? They will go to good use fueling the brick/block ovens:
STEP 6: Get food.
The first thing I built in my mine was a massive wheat farm. Hold on to your butts... it is planted with 16 rows each 64 blocks long:
I have been cutting all the tall grass in my tree clearing efforts, and I still only have 2/3s of the seeds I need to plant the 1024 block wheat patch, LOL.
So the world is built..., plans are drafted, clearing, cutting, mining, planting are all well underway. Still havent started the sheep operations yet, but I cant wait to get started building.... so lets lay this thing out.
STEP 7: Foundations
After many many many runs back and forth all over the general building stie to verify elevations and distances. I did some fancy pencil and paper math and determined where the gatehouse will be built, and then where the center point will be.
After another dozen trips around the footprint area, I selected the height:
Soooooooooo Let the building begin.
Here is a screen shot with the basic foundations laid to elevation for the two towers and the front wall of the gatehouse.
And a shot of the completed gatehouse foundations including the basement floor for the space underneath the main entry arch. This basement room will become my main operations center for the first third of the project; the gatehouse, the guards tower (see big square to upper right) the courtyards and the bailey wall for the never built inner keep:
And a shot from ground level of the front of the gatehouse foundations taken from what will be the second to last phase, the future approach ramp.
Tonight I will be building the towers, putting floors on the ground floor rooms of teh gatehouse, and moving operations into the gatehouse basements!..... finally.
The last two weeks of Dec are ALWAYS tough in my professional life, so it is good to be back in the computer chair with a few days of vacation to play.

Feb 14, 2012Hey, fellas. I'm restoring a backup from February 4th, right before the griefing and stealing started. Apparently the white-list was turned off for a while. Not sure how that I happened, obviously my fault though, but what that means is the griefing wasn't done by any of us, and no one needs to be banned :smile.gif:Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
Sorry if you lost any progress, but most everything should be back to normal now <3
Also, I'm trying to keep an eye on what Jeb and Jon are doing in terms of the terrain generation. I'd really like to be able to start up a new map soon, but I hesitate to do so because I know they love changing the terrain code every ****ing update, and I don't want to just start over only to have to do it again in a couple weeks.
And, lol, what the **** is up with griefers? What a bunch of bitches XD
Jan 28, 2012BluePhase posted a message on The Beaux Arts - Temple of Axiom (Greatest Architecture)EDIT: We made it to the top 10! Judging is still going on!Posted in: Screenshots
This temple was created by sunflower (dvarvaro) for the Multiplay Contest. He has created many buildings and architecture of what is now shown on the forums such as this. "Greatest Architecture in History?" Since then he has been working on 2 projects, currently one being this. It is called the Temple of Axiom. It took 20 days to complete with dvarvaro and I as a helper, and was made purely by hand. No programs were used in the making of this.
If you wanna see this thing in person, hop onto Minecraft and go to thebeauxart.com. We are waiting...
