The network problem was fixed and the capes should be working fine again.

Still not working for me on any version after 1.7.10 although they work fine in that version. Any ideas what I can try?

Is anyone else having trouble with the cape not displaying? It works fine with 1.7.10 but the cape doesn't show up in any of the releases since including 1.8.3 A3.

This is an outstanding article on Minecraft performance from the makers of the Optifine mod:

Basically they list the specs in order of importance like this: GPU, CPU, Memory.

The version that you are using is easy to build but not safe and you can not load multiple creepers at once. It would be too easy to be attacked while you are waiting for the creeper to die.

I have two 8X3 water channels above ground, between them is a drop leading underground with another water channel leading to a pair of pistons on each side of the channel. There is a lever above ground for each of the pistons allowing you to manually direct the water to separate the skeletons and creepers according to which one is chasing you. It is much easier to get them to fall into the large above ground water channels than to get them to cross a single pressure plate. Below ground the creepers and skeletons are separated similar to how you have them but because they are enclosed on three sides, the skeleton is not able to shoot at you except when it is shooting across the creeper's death chamber. Since the entire build is below ground except for the water channels you are also completely safe from other mobs. I've been able to load the creeper chamber with 7-8 creepers at a time. I'll allow them to chase me then run in a quick circle around the above ground water channels so that they fall in, then go off and find another creeper while the water channels take the first ones down into the killing chamber.

Obviously a skeleton spawner, mob farm and creeper sorter would be great additions if you are going into wholesale disc manufacture.

When you leave the grocery store right at dusk and panic, thinking "I need to get home FAST."

When you think that you see an Enderman in your neighbors backyard.

When you see a dark corner under a storage rack at work and think that it needs a couple of torches under it.

Yes, I've done all of these.

Boss mobs. None of the current mobs are any real challenge, we need something where everyone's first reaction is going to be "Run!" I'd start with Notch's promised Red Dragon.

Decon_Blue's description sounds very much like the setup that I have. I believe the gate is called a T-flip-flop, at least that is the gate that I used.

I've been on Ubuntu but gave up on updating it when they adopted the new Gnome Shell. I've recently moved to Mint Debian Edition and absolutely love it - much more responsive than Ubuntu ever was.

Well I found this virus-infected computer next to a dumpster:

Pentium IV, 2.8 GHz, 2 GB RAM, NVidia 8400GS (PCI), now running on Linux Mint Debian Edition.

Another similar computer is setup using Ubuntu Server as a dedicated multiplayer server.

I get a steady 40 fps using Optifine and low graphics. It's not fancy, but it plays just fine and leaves my other computers for the kids to play on also.

Check your video settings for the the particle adjustments, it needs to be on full or reduced to see the floating glyphs. Setting it to minimal will disable them.

you can make it to where a creeper falls into one hole, and behind that creeper is another hole that a skeleton falls into, wait until the skeleton kills the creeper, and collect the rewards

lol try that with the new AI update :/

The new AI is easily defeated with a pressure plate and a piston to push the mobs into your trap as they walk around the edges of it.

This is essentially how my disk trap is setup - with water channels and lever activated pistons to direct the mobs into their respective portions of the trap.

posted a message on The End -- a couple of quick questions
Bring lots of arrows, probably four stacks, and an extra bow. Keep at least 80% of your attention on the dragon, when it charges you shoot it with the bow and it will turn away. You should have time for a second shot though it is pointless until you've destroyed all the crystals. Be very patient and use your time between the dragon's charges to destroy the crystals. Bring lots of dirt to build towers for the crystals that are difficult to shoot; don't get close to them. Sometimes the dragon will charge you again immediately so be careful.

Diamond armor is overkill, it doesn't protect you from falling damage which is the dragon's primary means of killing armored players - tossing them up into the air. Boots with a feather falling enchantment will help if you get distracted and the dragon does charge you successfully.

The enderman will not bother you as long as you keep your gaze on the sky; if one attacks just hit it in the legs - it will not teleport away. Pumpkins just make it harder to see the dragon which is the real danger.
