hey guys, it's been a while. It's me: SamMaher, here to show and update you on my new pack; Vanilla Essence.
I'm currently working on a pack called "Vanilla Essence". Vanilla, but better. And not one of those crappy ones btw. An actual worth-it one. It's jam packed. Basically, I've changed colors and contrasts. Idk about the blocks though.
For example, the oak log; It is shaded so that it appears round, rich and 3D. You may notice that the big thing that's wrong with vanilla is:
-Lack of 3D
-Dull colors
-Lack of theme
It's those things that are missing to make vanilla enjoyable.
Picture: (yes, I still use the terrain.png. You got a problem with that?)
Idk about stone... ?
Any thought about this? Btw, it's good to be back!

Alright, I am back!! Sorry for the absense! When they changed the way texture packs worked previously I was hugely discouraged, I wanted to apologize for that. Also, those of you who decided to continue my texture pack I really appreciate it. I don't want you to feel that I'm putting you down for making your own textures but I decided to draw my own stuff for the fact that I want this to be all my own work.
I hope you all understand. Thanks!

Inofficially posted a message on [1.5.2] Meat+ - A little more meat to the game!Posted in: Minecraft ModsMeat+by Inofficially
Meat+ is a mod which includes an addition of meats. These meats can be obtained by killing the mobs that drop them. Killing the mob with fire (aspect enchantment) will drop the cooked state of the food, as well as smelting the raw food. Please note that I am still working on this mod, so there are bound to be bugs and some incompatibilities.

enchilado posted a message on **1.11 update on the way!*** [16ร][1.5.1] Rakepack: default revamped; heavily revised icons with minimal block tweaksRakepack v0.6.2 (10/04/13)Posted in: Resource Packs
This texture pack involves various tweaks to the default while retaining the same feel. Almost all item icons as well as some GUI ones have been edited, mostly to improve shading, but blocks remain largely the same so you don't have to worry about your creations only looking good because of your texture pack.
Notable differences from default:- Prompted by Lapis and Emerald, each ore has a unique pattern
- Tool shapes become less crude as they advance in tier
- Improved shading on many icons; see armour, for example
- Repaletted Gold, Emerald and Diamond

Note
Since this is a derivative work based on images that are the property of Mojang AB I do not hold copyright on it. However, I would appreciate it if you did not take the edits I've made and redistribute them in your own texture pack. -

zamaj posted a message on Definition of a Simple PackPosted in: Resource Pack DiscussionWhat Defines a "Simple Pack?"
The Simple Pack Showdown contest by Steelfeathers has sparked some controversy about what exactly a simple pack is. I hope to propose a set of guidelines about what defines a "simple" pack. This is only my opinion, and if you disagree or have a proposed amendment, please leave a comment.
First of all, there is a difference between a simple pack and a cartoon pack. A cartoon pack is generally thought of as a pack that that doesn't have a lot of detail and is generally bright and colorful. I'm not going to address everything makes a cartoon pack, but I will say that a pack does not need to be a simple pack to have that feel.
Here are my proposed 3 laws of simple packs:
1. A simple pack may not use more than 3 different colors to shade a "section" of the block. As you can see in the picture, a section is a brick. Even though it uses different colors than the rest of the bricks, it's using only two colors for that particular brick. Sections could be bricks, clumps of dirt, individual planks, or anything else that is divided up.
2. Individual dots may be used for visual effect, but not for shading. As you can see in the sand below, the dots make it look a bit grainier, but don't add any shading.
3. A simple pack is no more than a 32x32 resolution. This is the hardest thing for me to judge, but I think that I think that above that, the pack becomes cartoon and not simple. Would you really consider Sphax PureBDcraft simple? Part of what gives simple packs their charm is their pixeliness. And also, it limits the detail, which, overall is what simple packs are all about. A 256x pack could follow all of these rules and still be incredibly detailed.
Here are some Non-examples:
These are the same textures, only edited so that they don't follow the rules.
As you can see, this texture uses more than 3 colors per section, making it a cartoon texture, not simple.
This one uses dots for shading, not just visual effect.
This one is such a high resolution that it can look good and be detailed without breaking any of the rules.
I am aware that this thread may get a fair amount of negative feedback, but please see this as a few suggestions, not the new law. -

SergeTheUrge posted a message on [WIP] ChimneySwift ModI hate chimney swift. He is stupid.Posted in: WIP Mods
I was listening to his mod review about gray goo. and i swear on my life that im not inflating or exaggerating, he said the word 'essentially' over 15 times. I wanted to rip out my hair and break my face. It was infuriating constantly hearing him iterate that word. I was so mad.
chimney swift doesn't deserve all his fame and views if he uses the same big word 15 times. in the same exact context. -

Stop hating on this pack just because it isn't completely made from scratch. He did more than just "Resize" the textures, he improved them and smoothed them out. Some of the textures are drastically different. Personally I like Faithful 32x, but I like this more. -

Great, there's much more to come! Stay tuned!

Advice for the creator: Take your time and practice your pixel art before uploading your texture pack. Don't just make a generic "smooth/simple" pack with no detail whatsoever.
