How did you find out about The Sanctuary?: sharktooth recommended me here when I mentioned missing Minecraft
Are you familiar with Discord?: I am, but I’m also a serial lurker until I get comfortable.
What drew you to The Sanctuary and why are you excited to join? Shark knows me pretty well so I tend to take his word as gospel, he said I’d like it, which contributed heavily to my descision to apply. Aside from that, there’s the name, oddly enough. Or maybe not odd: Minecraft used to be a safe haven for me where I’d go to de-stress, so seeing the name Sanctuary hit a chord. Lastly, there’d be that it’s a new community. When I played MC religiously, I was part of an older established community which was awesome since it felt like a big family. But it also came with a big family’s drama. There aren’t typically cliques or things like that formed in newer communities, which is ideal for me. (Wow that got long, sorry)
Tell us a little about yourself: I’m about to head to college so I’m pretty sure I’ll need a de-stressor like I need air. I enjoy working out, singing, reading, [insert anything artsy here and I can pretty much guarantee I like it], and long walks on the beach. Provided the beach is a snowy mountain and it’s more of a hike. I pride myself as the leader of all hermits, though that doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t join in on conversation just to goof around.
This really is getting wordy, I’m basically a music enthusiast who’s stressed but enjoys putting cubes together to make bigger, cubular (tubular) structures. So yeah, nice to meet you.
What is your favorite part of minecraft?: imagining very intense building projects and spending all my waking hours trying to make them happen

Tell us about yourself!: I'm nineteen in the US of A soon to be in "Kangaroo Country." I have an unhealthy addiction to heels but it's fine, I can quit anytime I want. I'm not sure what else to put here since I've been around before but I'll give it a go: I tend to stick to myself, though I have my outspoken moments. I enjoy dragging ridiculous jokes out for far too long. I still don't understand how that paraglider thing works in MC and thusly have decided it doesn't exist. Why do you prefer playing in a small community?: Things are more fun when everybody knows everyone. I've tried a large community and it worked for about one whole day. I was very proud I lasted that long.
What is your favourite aspect of playing on a server with a vanilla-like gameplay?: Probably mining for hours or building for hours. I'm not sure which is more satisfying, seeing a stack of diamond in your inventory or a mansion completed. EDIT: I thought about it more. I think it's both, I hereby dub it muilding.
Tell us something about yourself: I am a (almost) nineteen year old hermit with an affinity for sarcasm. I spend my time reading, writing, watching videos, working, and I'd like to reintroduce minecraft to that list. I was recommended this server by sharktooth and his stamp of approval works for me so here I am.
Why should we accept you?: I normally keep to myself but, given it's a small community, I think it'll be easy to interact with and make friends with everyone. I'm respectful of rules because I'm an incurably goody-two-shoes who doesn't like conflict or consequences. I think the most I could offer is a good conversation from time to time and a massive build or two, I hope that's enough though.

Being new to RP terminology, I did have to look these definitions up. From what I understand, power-gaming is basically ending interactions immediately by using moves/attacks/etc that can't be responded to. Essentially drains the fun out of play for others.

Meta-gaming is using information you, OOC, know but your character does not.

Role-playing is the act of taking on a self-created persona and using it for the purposes of a game. It comes in several forms and intensities, for example, a light role-play (though I've no idea if there's an actual term for it) would be something you could break character in.

Quris is lanky and thin, standing at 5'10. He possesses dark brown skin, wild, curly black hair-- presumably from his human mother's side-- and very light brown eyes. He typically does not do much with his hair, though he can occasionally be bothered to pull it into a ponytail or bun. Quris travels in a navy doublet over his black undershirt along with a long navy cloak. For movement purposes, he wears black canvas pants and sturdy, black leather boots. He carries a worn leather satchel in which he keeps his arm blades and brass knuckles. Underneath his heavy clothing, Quris is covered in several scars and burns.

Quris is calm to a fault. Seemingly unendingly patient, Quris rarely loses his temper and comes across as a compassionate, mature individual. He is often seen as empathetic despite his quiet nature and is easily confided in. Behind his untouchable outwards demeanor, Quris is rather callous. He cares very little for others problems aside from the very few who have managed to grow close to him. He enjoys subtly pushing others to bad decisions and watching chaotic situations from afar. He has very little patience for most people, finding both their problems and them to be a colossal waste of his time and energy.
Quris is very self-conscious and wary in the presence of most people though it never shows on the surface. He holds his public appearance and reputation to high standards; however, because of his penchant for exacerbating other's issues, he often moves to find a "fresh start" when his reputation is more tarnished than he can fix. Even though he cares for how he is seen; Quris is a hermit, mostly avoiding both people and the outdoors whenever possible. Hey enjoys small spaces in which he feels safe in the ability to see the entirety of the world immediately around him. Despite his nihilistic attitude and general dismissal to most intelligent life, Quris is impossibly kind to animals and children, showing what is, perhaps, the truest version of himself only in their company.

Quris was born to a human mother and a high elf father. His father already held some shame from allowing himself to be “bewitched” by a human; however, when Quris was born and took after his mother more in appearance, that shame quadrupled and his father became violent.
Quris’s childhood was an endless spiral of abuse that only ever broke when it others seemed suspicious. His mother grew quiet and reserved, taking a large interest in reading to distance herself from the hell around her. Because of her unwillingness to face reality, Quris was left to fend for himself where his father was concerned. Quris couldn’t blame his mother for her neglect seeing as he to turned to knowledge to escape his homelife whenever he had the chance. As he grew older, Quris grew more violent, eventually getting to a point at which he pledged to his father that he would kill him slowly, repaying him with two years for every one he’d abused Quris.
The threat did lessen the abuse for a short period of time, though it picked back up when Quris was twenty, his father telling him that, “if he wasn’t happy with his household, he could leave.” However, because his father was ostracized from other high elves for fraternizing with a human and his mother had no kin to speak of, Quris decided to endure until he reached majority.
During the last ten years of his residence with his parents, his father’s abuse reached peak violence. Quris was pummeled, burned, and beaten regularly, often before he had the strength to recover from previous scuffles. In this time, Quris began to display a magical affinity, something his parents had both written off as unlikely in his childhood. Quris’s survival in that last decade was made possible only by the appearance of his magic. Forced to train his ability by healing himself daily, Quris slowly became able to take care of a few of the larger wounds inflicted on him.
When he reached thirty years of age, Quris smuggled a hefty sum of money from his father’s reserve, kissed his sleeping mother goodbye, and stole away in the dead of night.
He spent his time traveling and gaining knowledge, wanting nothing more than to have a small shop, a decent house, and a slow-paced, comfortable life. He found people to be far too enamored with inane problems and, despite his best intentions, couldn’t help but see them as petty entertainment and make a mockery of them in the comfort of his own mind. Continuing to hone his magic and knowledge, Quris lived taking up odd jobs to pay for food and housing before moving on. Over the course of the year, he worked to snuff out the violent urges that plagued him until he finally accepted that they were a part of his person and fighting himself wasn’t something he was prepared to do. Now, at forty-three, he has learned to indulge his urges just enough to sate them so that they do not interfere with his studies.

You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
Quris breathes out slowly, letting his anger and will to hurt go when he notices the thief was but a child. Speeding his pace to a gentle jog, he follows the child for a while until they are aways from the crowded marketplace. The child turns to check behind him, giving Quris the opportunity to grab the boy and retrieve his wallet. The child flinches away from Quris, expecting to be hit, but Quris merely frees seven coins from the depths of his purse and offers them to the boy, saying, “Should you ever have need, I will help you. Be well.” And goes on his way.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-coloured wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
With a pained sigh of almost perfect empathy, Quris slowly and carefully frees the mother wolf from her binds. He is bitten and scratched multiple times during this but carries on determinedly. Taking the time to heal as much of the wound as he can, Quris finally sits back when his work is done. He reaches into his bag for a bit of dried meat and offers it to the wolf, who snaps it from his hands. Carefully, he wraps her pups into his cloak and offers her another piece of jerky, whispering comfort as he leads her away from the farms nearby where she and her pups are likely to be killed.

When Quris’s father became exceedingly violent, Quris was often left on the brink of death with wounds that would normally grow infected. For the sole purpose of saving his own life, Quris began to show a minute ability to heal himself. This ability originally didn’t help him much and had to be trained over the course of a decade. The affinity for magic benefits Quris by allowing him to have reached majority and by blinding him to his higher affinity to harmful magic for a time, allowing him to reach majority without having committed patricide. Had Quris’s magic developed originally for combat, his father would be dead.
After leaving his father’s house, Quris focused less on healing magic because he seemed to hit a plateau quite quickly. His affinity was more in combative magic, specifically dark magic. Quris avoided dark magic at first, trying his hardest to tamp down on his propensity for violence and instead focused on elemental magic, studying it at length. After understanding and accepting his limits, Quris finally allowed himself to study his best ability in full.
Quris typically only uses his magic for the purpose of training or to help animals and children. He keeps his holy magic well trained if only for an innate fear of ever being put into the kind of helpless situation he was in as a child. Because his continuation into magic-related ventures was a product of his thirst for knowledge, Quris pushes himself to learn more of magic and hone every aspect of the magic he has. He much more prefers to use arm blades paired with brass knuckles in combat.
-Please give an example in your own words describing the limitations placed upon those who use magic (This should be at least one well-crafted paragraph):
Magical limitations are necessary to limit the opportunities available to power game. Limitations should include things that restrict magic from making any one person overpowered or unbeatable. For example, one hit kills that don’t leave the caster completely vulnerable for a significant amount of time are off-limits. This also means things like summoning must have boundaries since summoned monsters are often more powerful than the summoner. Magic that allows people to avoid or sidestep situations in a seemingly unfair way (i.e. human alteration without limitations) drains the fun from the experience and is extremely difficult to judge. Magical limitations are needed to make the RP experience seem less like a free-for-all and more structured, fair, and realistic.
-Please give a description of the magic system in your own words:
The magic system consists of the elementals, holy, and dark magic. Every being has some affinity for magic, whether that be zero or higher. This affinity controls just how strong a character’s magic can be. Because magical affinity is a rarity to begin with, extremely strong casters are almost unheard of and not a role most characters should try to assume. Magic is part of a balance, weighed with physicality, and neither should or could ever fully eclipse the other for any person.
-You are given a weak trinket of <blank>, you haven't had much practice with magic yet, but you will try your best. Describe some things you could/would do with this trinket:
Quris spends a week simply noting the trinket of healing’s properties, testing and turning in every way and at every angle until he knows the trinket more than he knows his own mind. He fills the next few days hypothesizing how exactly to increase it’s ability to give constant, light healing. After he’s made his preparations, he begins to work on the trinket slowly and meticulously. When it is finished, he considers making more of them to distribute to the street rats he so often sees sporting light scrapes and scratches.
You start with one aspect only. You gain the rest of them (How ever many your race may have) of your own choice through further RP, however you will not be able to attain them immediately.

Well, I was invited by Sharktooth(/aroo/toof) when I mentioned I was considering quitting MC. He said you guys are awesome so I grabbed my bags and caught the first train over. 4. What are some of your goals for this server?
I'd like to build something really dimensional. To clarify, I mostly build and mine (with occasional breaks to socialize unless, heaven forbid, I get comfy in which case I talk a good bit) but most of my builds look like interesting paper cut outs which isn't the best thing since sliced bread. Actually, that is my goal: I want someone to say my build is the best thing since sliced bread and perhaps sliced cheese. That and I'd love to make some friends and have fun but mostly the first thing. 5. Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi, I'm Chaus. I possess an interesting (self-proclaimed) sense of humor. I read so often some English majors have regarded me with awe. I enjoy most anything that has to do with arts. I listen to music more than I listen to humans but sometimes humans are in the music so it all evens out, I think. I write a lot and laugh way too much depending on when you catch me. I enjoy jokes as much as the next guy provided the next guy is someone who enjoys jokes.

What got you interested in the server?: After listening to kallekulle for a while explaining about this server i thought it sounded like a really fun server and thought I'd apply and hopefully get accepted.
What is your favorite part of Minecraft?: Building large building cause of the satisfaction of completing it after hours/days of hard work. I also love pvp but you have to put so much time into the pvp servers and i'm playing alot of other games right now so it will be fun with some pve to relax when im pissed on cause of the other games
Do you have a preferred building style?: Not really I like to build all kinds of things because it's alot funnier that way.

How did you hear about server?: I was just browsing the forum and your server stuck out to me.
What got you interested in the server?: Well, I've attempted to get back into vanilla servers quite a few times now, but failed due to a busy life. However, I've just entered the second half of my school year, which is a always quite a bit more relaxed, and am ready to get back into Minecraft.
What is your favorite part of Minecraft?: The thing I've always liked about this game is it's non-objectivity. There really isn't a purpose other than to have fun, and I've always liked that because it a lows for a lot of creativity and creates a community and a group of closely-knit cliques that work together. I'm rambling a bit, but I really like how unique the game is and have never come upon anything like it / what it's created.
Do you have a preferred building style?: Yes, I prefer modernism, as i struggle with the random block placement that is required with rustic or medieval builds. I guess my OCD takes advantage of me.
What do you hope to get out of this server?: I hope to acquire a good time in general, as I've been needing some entertainment recently, and hope to make a few friends along the way.

How did you hear about server?: I was actually looking for a server to possibly join. I don't really have many friends who play Minecraft and I was getting a little tired of having no one to share the game with, so I thought I would check a couple forums for a server that sounded mature and relatively stress-free.
What got you interested in the server?: The description, definitely. The rules sound appealing and fair, especially those about not griefing, cursing excessively, or typing in all caps (I hate that!). Aside from that, the description of the server looks as professional as I hope it is, and that drew me in.
What is your favorite part of Minecraft?: Well, honestly, the mods. I love trying out different mods and putting them together to see what works with what. That's actually one reason I would like to join this server; I feel like I've somewhat moved away from the basis of mining and building with all these complicated mods such as Forestry, Galacticraft, BluePower, etc., and I'd like to just go back to the basics and have some fun! In Vanilla, I enjoy building more than anything else, so I hope to do a good bit of that.
Do you have a preferred building style?: Oh gosh, that's a hard question to answer. I tend to subconsciously make every starting house I build look like an oversize rectangle by accident... is that a style? I have to actually think about and plan what to build to make something interesting, but I've built one or two things that I think are pretty cool over the years.
What do you hope to get out of this server?: If I were to sum the answer to this up in two words, I would say fun and friends! Like I said, I have very few Minecraft friends and wouldn't mind making some more. It gets lonely playing by myself, and maybe I'll get some new ideas and inspiration from other builds and players. And actually, I may have to add a third word to my sum- security. The reason I've never been on a server before (maybe) this one is that I've heard so many horror stories and watched so many parodies that tell griefing stories, and I spend so much time and effort on my items and builds that I let them scare me away until now.
What can you bring to this server?: Someone who doesn't break rules! Every single rule in the description is warranted and sensible, and I'm relieved that they are in place. I know how much having something you worked hard on destroyed hurts, and I just want to play with some cool people who understand that as well. I've also been playing Minecraft for several years, so I know the ropes, and if I can help anyone out with crafting recipes, builds (not redstone though! I don't speak redstone), or loans of materials, it would be my pleasure to do so.
Tell us about yourself!: I'm an 18 year old college student. I'm hoping to double major in computer science and business administration, although my true passion is writing. My favorite Minecraft mod is Dragonmounts because I've been obsessed with dragons for a long time, and most of the books I'm working on have dragons in them in some shape or form! What else, what else.... I love action/adventure movies, watch lots of tv shows, play many different video games, and listen primarily to rock and electronic music. I've also played soccer for maybe... 12 years, now, and I ride horses and volunteer at an equestrian center for children with disabilities. What got you interested in the server?: It seems like a well developed sever with a great community that I'd love to be part of. I always find it a lot more fun to play with other people.

Do you have a preferred building style?: Not really. I like experimenting with different things. I tend to build a lot of forest cottage/cabin type builds. And big towers are one of my favorite things to build.

Do you have a preferred building style?: Yes and no, I like to build big grand designs but I vary a lot with all of my buildings/styles. Detail for me is key. Everything is normally patterned and I work a lot with Math to make sure my designs are precise as well as grandiose.

Tell us about yourself!: I've been playing Minecraft on and off since Alpha, I'm hoping to get back into it now. Just got back from a month long holiday in Myanmar mostly and a little bit in Thailand and I am really excited to bring some of the amazing traditional architecture I saw over there and mix it with my own style. I quit my job before I left for my holiday and still have some money saved up to relax for a while and hopefully gun it out on this server! I live in Sydney and I sail quite a bit and I'm currently going for pilot's license and doing some online currency trading. But that doesn't take up the majority of my time. You may think this server is too far away from me (or vice versa) but almost every server I play on is overseas and mostly based in US/Europe. I used to run 2 other Minecraft Servers, one was a Vanilla SMP and one was a modded FTB server. I have also been Admin/Moderator/Builder/Dev for a lot of other servers over the years.

How did you hear about server?: Alas, i'm another "friend" of MorgTheBrit's, he often mentions this community whilst we are in Skype calls.
What got you interested in the server?: I'm quite a regular player of minecraft, been very active around Australian based communities in the past. Unfortunately Aussie servers nowadays don't have the same player base they used to a few years back, so I think it's time I branch out to some more international servers. I hear that this server has a great community and that they are very active and friendly. I think that this place will be a great opportunity to bring me back to the good old days where I can meet some new people and finally get back into building some nice builds with others.
What is your favorite part of Minecraft?: I love the building aspect of the game, I end up spending half my time building train stations to make travelling in vanilla easier, but I enjoy building for the aesthetics. Functionality however is great! But who says something can't be functional yet nice looking? I'm equally a fan of survival, especially with a community so we can all pool together with resources to make a community build every once in a while.
Do you have a preferred building style?: Although cobble shacks are great and everything, I prefer modern styled buildings. My style varies depending on the type of biome or theme of an area. Expect a lot of different styles from me, from builds of Taco Bell to Coles (an Aussie Grocery Store)

How did you find out about The Sanctuary?: sharktooth recommended me here when I mentioned missing Minecraft
Are you familiar with Discord?: I am, but I’m also a serial lurker until I get comfortable.
What drew you to The Sanctuary and why are you excited to join? Shark knows me pretty well so I tend to take his word as gospel, he said I’d like it, which contributed heavily to my descision to apply. Aside from that, there’s the name, oddly enough. Or maybe not odd: Minecraft used to be a safe haven for me where I’d go to de-stress, so seeing the name Sanctuary hit a chord. Lastly, there’d be that it’s a new community. When I played MC religiously, I was part of an older established community which was awesome since it felt like a big family. But it also came with a big family’s drama. There aren’t typically cliques or things like that formed in newer communities, which is ideal for me. (Wow that got long, sorry)
Tell us a little about yourself: I’m about to head to college so I’m pretty sure I’ll need a de-stressor like I need air. I enjoy working out, singing, reading, [insert anything artsy here and I can pretty much guarantee I like it], and long walks on the beach. Provided the beach is a snowy mountain and it’s more of a hike. I pride myself as the leader of all hermits, though that doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t join in on conversation just to goof around.

Why do you prefer playing in a small community?: Things are more fun when everybody knows everyone. I've tried a large community and it worked for about one whole day. I was very proud I lasted that long.
What is your favourite aspect of playing on a server with a vanilla-like gameplay?: Probably mining for hours or building for hours. I'm not sure which is more satisfying, seeing a stack of diamond in your inventory or a mansion completed. EDIT: I thought about it more. I think it's both, I hereby dub it muilding.
Tell us something about yourself: I am a (almost) nineteen year old hermit with an affinity for sarcasm. I spend my time reading, writing, watching videos, working, and I'd like to reintroduce minecraft to that list. I was recommended this server by sharktooth and his stamp of approval works for me so here I am.
Why should we accept you?: I normally keep to myself but, given it's a small community, I think it'll be easy to interact with and make friends with everyone. I'm respectful of rules because I'm an incurably goody-two-shoes who doesn't like conflict or consequences. Quris is lanky and thin, standing at 5'10. He possesses dark brown skin, wild, curly black hair-- presumably from his human mother's side-- and very light brown eyes. He typically does not do much with his hair, though he can occasionally be bothered to pull it into a ponytail or bun. Quris travels in a navy doublet over his black undershirt along with a long navy cloak. For movement purposes, he wears black canvas pants and sturdy, black leather boots. He carries a worn leather satchel in which he keeps his arm blades and brass knuckles. Underneath his heavy clothing, Quris is covered in several scars and burns.

Quris is calm to a fault. Seemingly unendingly patient, Quris rarely loses his temper and comes across as a compassionate, mature individual. He cares very little for others problems aside from the very few who have managed to grow close to him. He enjoys subtly pushing others to bad decisions and watching chaotic situations from afar. He has very little patience for most people, finding both their problems and them to be a colossal waste of his time and energy.
Quris is very self-conscious and wary in the presence of most people though it never shows on the surface. He holds his public appearance and reputation to high standards; however, because of his penchant for exacerbating other's issues, he often moves to find a "fresh start" when his reputation is more tarnished than he can fix. Even though he cares for how he is seen; Quris is a hermit, mostly avoiding both people and the outdoors whenever possible. Hey enjoys small spaces in which he feels safe in the ability to see the entirety of the world immediately around him. Despite his nihilistic attitude and general dismissal to most intelligent life, Quris is impossibly kind to animals and children, showing what is, perhaps, the truest version of himself only in their company.

Quris was born to a human mother and a high elf father. His father already held some shame from allowing himself to be “bewitched” by a human; however, when Quris was born and took after his mother more in appearance, that shame quadrupled and his father became violent.
Quris’s childhood was an endless spiral of abuse that only ever broke when it others seemed suspicious. His mother grew quiet and reserved, taking a large interest in reading to distance herself from the hell around her. Because of her unwillingness to face reality, Quris was left to fend for himself where his father was concerned. Quris couldn’t blame his mother for her neglect seeing as he to turned to knowledge to escape his homelife whenever he had the chance. As he grew older, Quris grew more violent, eventually getting to a point at which he pledged to his father that he would kill him slowly, repaying him with two years for every one he’d abused Quris.
The threat did lessen the abuse for a short period of time, though it picked back up when Quris was twenty, his father telling him that, “if he wasn’t happy with his household, he could leave.” However, because his father was ostracized from other high elves for fraternizing with a human and his mother had no kin to speak of, Quris decided to endure until he reached majority.
During the last ten years of his residence with his parents, his father’s abuse reached peak violence. Quris was pummeled, burned, and beaten regularly, often before he had the strength to recover from previous scuffles. In this time, Quris began to display a magical affinity, something his parents had both written off as unlikely in his childhood. Quris’s survival in that last decade was made possible only by the appearance of his magic. Forced to train his ability by healing himself daily, Quris slowly became able to take care of a few of the larger wounds inflicted on him.
When he reached thirty years of age, Quris smuggled a hefty sum of money from his father’s reserve, kissed his sleeping mother goodbye, and stole away in the dead of night.
He spent his time traveling and gaining knowledge, wanting nothing more than to have a small shop, a decent house, and a slow-paced, comfortable life. He found people to be far too enamored with inane problems and, despite his best intentions, couldn’t help but see them as petty entertainment and make a mockery of them in the comfort of his own mind. Continuing to hone his magic and knowledge, Quris lived taking up odd jobs to pay for food and housing before moving on. Over the course of the year, he worked to snuff out the violent urges that plagued him until he finally accepted that they were a part of his person and fighting himself wasn’t something he was prepared to do. Now, at forty-three, he has learned to indulge his urges just enough to sate them so that they do not interfere with his studies.

You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
Quris breathes out slowly, letting his anger and will to hurt go when he notices the thief was but a child. Speeding his pace to a gentle jog, he follows the child for a while until they are aways from the crowded marketplace. The child turns to check behind him, giving Quris the opportunity to grab the boy and retrieve his wallet. The child flinches away from Quris, expecting to be hit, but Quris merely frees seven coins from the depths of his purse and offers them to the boy, saying, “Should you ever have need, I will help you. Be well.” And goes on his way.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-coloured wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
With a pained sigh of almost perfect empathy, Quris slowly and carefully frees the mother wolf from her binds. He is bitten and scratched multiple times during this but carries on determinedly. Taking the time to heal as much of the wound as he can, Quris finally sits back when his work is done. He reaches into his bag for a bit of dried meat and offers it to the wolf, who snaps it from his hands. Carefully, he wraps her pups into his cloak and offers her another piece of jerky, whispering comfort as he leads her away from the farms nearby where she and her pups are likely to be killed.

When Quris’s father became exceedingly violent, Quris was often left on the brink of death with wounds that would normally grow infected. For the sole purpose of saving his own life, Quris began to show a minute ability to heal himself. This ability originally didn’t help him much and had to be trained over the course of a decade. The affinity for magic benefits Quris by allowing him to have reached majority and by blinding him to his higher affinity to harmful magic for a time, allowing him to reach majority without having committed patricide. Had Quris’s magic developed originally for combat, his father would be dead.
After leaving his father’s house, Quris focused less on healing magic because he seemed to hit a plateau quite quickly. His affinity was more in combative magic, specifically dark magic. Quris avoided dark magic at first, trying his hardest to tamp down on his propensity for violence and instead focused on elemental magic, studying it at length. After understanding and accepting his limits, Quris finally allowed himself to study his best ability in full.
Quris typically only uses his magic for the purpose of training or to help animals and children. He keeps his holy magic well trained if only for an innate fear of ever being put into the kind of helpless situation he was in as a child. Because his continuation into magic-related ventures was a product of his thirst for knowledge, Quris pushes himself to learn more of magic and hone every aspect of the magic he has. He much more prefers to use arm blades paired with brass knuckles in combat.

Magical limitations are necessary to limit the opportunities available to power game. Limitations should include things that restrict magic from making any one person overpowered or unbeatable. For example, one hit kills that don’t leave the caster completely vulnerable for a significant amount of time are off-limits. This also means things like summoning must have boundaries since summoned monsters are often more powerful than the summoner. Magic that allows people to avoid or sidestep situations in a seemingly unfair way (i.e. human alteration without limitations) drains the fun from the experience and is extremely difficult to judge. Magical limitations are needed to make the RP experience seem less like a free-for-all and more structured, fair, and realistic.

The magic system consists of the elementals, holy, and dark magic. Every being has some affinity for magic, whether that be zero or higher. This affinity controls just how strong a character’s magic can be. Quris spends a week simply noting the trinket of healing’s properties, testing and turning in every way and at every angle until he knows the trinket more than he knows his own mind. He fills the next few days hypothesizing how exactly to increase it’s ability to give constant, light healing. After he’s made his preparations, he begins to work on the trinket slowly and meticulously. When it is finished, he considers making more of them to distribute to the street rats he so often sees sporting light scrapes and scratches.
You start with one aspect only. You gain the rest of them (How ever many your race may have) of your own choice through further RP, however you will not be able to attain them immediately.
I believe Quris would begin with Holy magic then.

3. What brings you to our community?
Well, I was invited by Sharktooth(/aroo/toof) when I mentioned I was considering quitting MC. He said you guys are awesome so I grabbed my bags and caught the first train over.
4. What are some of your goals for this server?
I'd like to build something really dimensional. To clarify, I mostly build and mine (with occasional breaks to socialize unless, heaven forbid, I get comfy in which case I talk a good bit) but most of my builds look like interesting paper cut outs which isn't the best thing since sliced bread. Actually, that is my goal: I want someone to say my build is the best thing since sliced bread and perhaps sliced cheese. That and I'd love to make some friends and have fun but mostly the first thing.

Hi, I'm Chaus. I possess an interesting (self-proclaimed) sense of humor. I read so often some English majors have regarded me with awe. I enjoy most anything that has to do with arts. I listen to music more than I listen to humans but sometimes humans are in the music so it all evens out, I think. I write a lot and laugh way too much depending on when you catch me. I enjoy jokes as much as the next guy provided the next guy is someone who enjoys jokes.
