Can you craft together 2 daggers in order to create a dual-wield set?
Also, there should be a shield. Crafted together with a sword, it slows your attack speed, but when blocking damage is reduced by twice as much as just parrying. Also, having one equipped will increase the likelihood of mobs attacking you.
I'm just sayin', I think it would be cool if there were a basilisk that would spawn rarely in the Fungi biome and a Lion that spawned in the savanna.
Lions could drop leather, and basilisks could drop talons, tears, eyes, scales, or something else that'd be cool for a potion. Maybe a stoneskin potion that increases armor, and an entombment potion that traps enemies in stone.
In the case that redstone WERE to be capable of being invisible, Mojang should add invisible dye, so that after you're ultra-positive that it works, you can hide it.
This way, you could have a huge trail of redstone going across the floor somewhere, and nobody would ever know.
If one redstone that was in the chain gets broken, the redstone adjacent to it becomes visible, so you can quickly fix it and hide it all again.
What would silver tools/ weapons do? Yield more resources when mining? Would there be a new werewolf mob that takes extra damage from silver weapons?
What would be the purpose of rubies? Would they be for decorational purposes? Would they be used as a "Step-up" currency from emeralds, that is more valuable and can be used to buy better items?
Would axes do more damage to him, or would the best choice be to stick with swords?
Anyways, I love this idea. I like the model too.

Sticks
They could maybe guard a large "tree temple" with some great loot inside like enchanted books (high level), emeralds, diamonds, and a shrine to a form of "Tree God", which, when summonsed, will act as a boss mob. He's got no wings, and can only go on the ground. Axes would do more damage.
Or, maybe the shrine could be used to summon a red dragon, as hinted before.
Maybe their backstory is...
They were villagers, who were bitten by zombies in the overworld, and banished to the nether by their fellow villagers. The effects of the nether's atmosphere/ash, however, altered the effects of the infection. Thusly, the nether villager was born. This could create a new way of generating them, by pushing zombie villagers into nether portals. The fact that they must be zombified BEFORE pushing them in adds an element of challenge, and also keeps them rare enough. Also, the nether infection causes their left arm to deteriorate.
Only thing that really needs change is that the blood should be something not red, like maybe purple. This could also be explained by the infection theory. The people wanting green could be happy with "meeting in the middle" this way.
Upon returning to the overworld, in the case that they go through the portal, they may attack normal villagers on site.
Hunters could also perhaps have a nether wolf (another new mob) which accompanies them.

Then... what would the point be?
Glass that you can't see through?
That's just... like... brittle color blocks...
