Sounds like a decent idea. Battle music keys on when you aggro a mob. Simple, and fun. Music might get old after a while, but that could be fixed with a decently large selection of music.

battles dont last long at all either, they would have to get right into the intensity of the music.

Well... my first suggestion... here it goes.

If you are sick of all the wiring and somewhat inefficient uses for redstone and jukeboxes, here is a small solution I came up with to use a bit of that, and still be better than some alarm systems.
    -----
    Installment
A jukebox is expensive, inefficient, and very rare to use commonly.
So, to make up for some of those, I devised a system.
Going off of Chanan's "Battle Music" thread, whom I thank for the idea, is a system
A Jukebox receiving a redstone current and is within 3 blocks of a monster, will start sounding off alarms to warn you.

    Diagram
    [] [] [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] :RedShroom: [-'-] [] :SSSS: [] [] []
    -Sounds an alarm*
    [] [] [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] :RedShroom: [-'-] [] [] [] :SSSS: []
    -Does nothing*
    [] [] [] [] [] [] [] []
    [] [] [-'-] [] :SSSS: [] [] []
    -Also, nothing*
*- Were :RedShroom: is the Redstone torch, and [-'-] is the jukebox.
    -----
    Uses
This could be used for many things. As in SSP, it could be used as anti Creeper alarm! (Keep them creepers off ya lawn). Or in SMP, it could be modified to also alarm of players, until disabled. It works in a few instances, and could be used for other things, like sirens, were the jukebox could be modified that if submerged, it will play an alarm as well, or... not... maybe.
    -----
    Conclusion
Thank you for your time reading this! Please be sure to vote and give me all the criticism that you have.
    ~Shneo
Also, free :Diamond:'s for supporters! Or... you could be standing in the source block of :Lava:. Cheers!
    :Notch:

This is a great idea, i think it would work good when mining , just one thing you should make it end after a while because the constant alarm sound may **** people off more than the creeper. XD

It should only be if you are under attack from 3 or more mobs, until all cease attack. The music should be chooseable and importable.

    Yea thats a great idea!

I like the idea of having some sort of subtle battle music in Minecraft when the mobs have seen you and are chasing you. Nothing too dramatic, just some slightly more upbeat music with some percussion.

Notch should implement the iMuse system into Minecraft, now that would be awesome. :iapprove:

Yes i agree with you sir.

Maybe. Its a nice Idea you got...
But I don't like how all this stuff like this eliminates the use of the jukebox...
Maybe same idea for a jukebox?
When a Monster is within a jukebox that is receiving a current, it will play a alarm or something?

    Thanks.

Yea you could do that, you should start a topic on alarms tho if you want to discuss it, its a very good idea.

The juke box i have is deep in my huge base and no monsters ever get there so i think it would be less effective to have a stationary object.

Mabey. I'm not a big fan of posting topics... but I'll do it. :tongue.gif:

well you dont have too. lol just a suggestion.

I dont know... Upbeat music would be nice, yet kind of like a RPG. A battle them doesn't really seem necessary for a game like this, it would also get amazingly annoying on hard mode.

Maybe if you could give us a example....

Are you thinking of like a drop down menu of music in the options. Like you can choose what type of music you want. and for people who think its annoying best solution would be to add an option to turn it off.

The music in Minecraft is wonderful, im sure everyone agrees with that. But i find it odd that when i am killing various horrifying creatures, music that makes me want to stop clicking comes on. So here is the idea, Music with a bit of an upbeat pace and maybe some drums instead of piano, will fade in when a monster is within 3 blocks of you, then the music will continue until the monster is either dead and no longer exists or until you have run more than 3 blocks away. This will also act as a warning for sneaky creepers, because once the Tssssssssssss is out your dead or very injured.

The main problem to this would be the vast majority of people who prefer to use arrows. So either the top suggestion or this following one will work. In Minecraft when you battle creatures with you bow they dont always see you. So The battle music should come on when the monster has you in its sights, like when a skeleton is shooting at you or a creeper is chasing you. This way you can be fighting with melee and ranged and still get some music.

    What do you think?

posted a message on Trying to start Multiplayer
Ive been playing Minecraft for a year now. but only single player. I was really looking for something new on multiplayer but every time i join a server i get killed by the other players, i dont blame them i was probably intruding :tongue.gif: . So i have now made this account on the forum to try and communicate with the players before entering. So i would very much appreciate a link or some way of joining a multiplayer server.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, i thought that general discussion would most fit this.
