The items are quite nice. You forgot to mention the gun update, however. I like the bronze over the read. Makes it feel more balanced and clearly more rifle like.
It was a pretty big update so I'm not surprised that I forgot something.

I'm not noticing a difference between the skeletons, unfortunately. Perhaps you could provide a before and after?
Things like including the new skeleton skin in the pack. This has been fixed now.
Please respond: How to do the alternating skin thing? It's amazing! I would love to use it!
If you mean the thing with the spider then it's due to the spider having two skins, one for everyday use and another that covers it and becomes more and more opaque as the spider goes into darker areas.

Spider_eyes.png is a second skin that covers the spider and changes transparency depending on the amount of light it is currently in. Making the spider completely transparent makes it so that only it's second skin is visible, and thus it is only visible in the dark. Spider_eyes.png is not transparent by default, minecraft makes it that way.
I hope that answers your question.
If you want to use this for a spider it's completely possible, however if you want to use it for anything else then you won't be able to lest someone comes up with a mod that applies the spider dual-skin feature to other things.
Edit: Good news. You will soon be able to say goodbye to the ugly default water and lava textures.
Also my ANGER at the shittiness of so many other people's texture packs is propelling me to explore modding opportunities, including easier installation and custom recipes.
Are you going to be changing the Ghasts much? I actually like the way they look.
I will be changing them completely, but the old texture will be kept in the pack as an extra for those who liked it along with some palette swaps.

Most refreshing. While I prefer my packs in 32x32 (and would just squee if you'd convert this to a higher resolution), I love seeing original packs like this. And the fact that you took the time to add a soundpack speaks volumes. I adore it. Will follow.
Maybe in the distant future I will make something 32x32. Thank you for the compliments, as I know this is a rather niche interest pack I value every follower I can get.

If I'm ever building a graveyard map I'll come here for sure...
Hrm. That actually gives me an idea. Cetus, you should totally add a texture for signs that make them look like Tombstone esc. stone tablets.
Not that I'm all against it but what kind of tombstone is supported on a post?
Really seems like my kind of game, but I'm afraid I won't be able to get my hands on without some, shall we say, help.

Understandable. I just think its probably better to have them used as they are originally intended to.
Well I like to stab things dead and that's that.

I agree the nether is pretty boring. I do use Netherrack for various things, which is why I'm kind of disappointed by it in the mod. Generally, if I want to build something to look evil, I replace the surrounding area's grass with netherrack, to give a kind of corrupted feel to it.
In my opinion it looks corrupted, but in a Silent Hill-esque sort of way. With the natural tessellating terrain changing to stark red grids giving it a feel of being unnatural, and in some ways, like a prison. But I will be making a new netherack texture along with new textures for all nether-related things, the question is what color? I personally think the nether is a little too red and it makes the atmosphere feel a bit forced.

Out of curiosity, what is MSPA? I've never heard of it and have no clue what you and that Knux guy are referring to.
Overall, I really like this texture pack. Theres a sort of Soul Reaver 1 feel to it with how bleak it is. The mobs look quite good as well. Overall my best bit of advice is to keep doing what you're doing with this mod. It'd really like to see you finish adding the rest of the textures.
Interesting considering I've never played any of the Soul Reaver games, or even heard of them much. Maybe I should give it a try sometime.

As far as criticism, there seems to be a few technical issues with items not being held correctly. Minor but kind of annoying. I also have to say I really dislike netherrack. Its really bland looking I'm afraid. It doesn't jell with the rest of the mod.
If you mean shovels and knives and plows then it's between holding them incorrectly or slicing your enemies in an incredibly silly manner. To be honest I haven't given much attention to the nether textures. I really find the whole place to be rather boring. Got some new ideas recently though.

The sound pack is quite good as well. I kind of with that it just used the default sounds for sounds that are absent because I assume there isn't a relateable sound from the game you took the sound files from, like chickens, getting out of water, ect. ect.
If I understand what you're doing here correctly then I must inform you that you are to merge the soundpack with the existing sounds, not replace it. For win7 users like myself, this simply involves dragging the sound pack folders into the same place where all the sound folders are for minecraft and clicking some "yes" buttons. I feel sorry for anyone who has to make do with less.

Anyway, this texture pack looks..
uhh...
Awesome.
But I won't use it >_>. I'm not really into scary things.
You'll regret it.

Please kind sir, what did you use to change the name of all items? (Not sure if i posted this b4)
1. went into the minecraft.jar file
2. went into the lang directory inside
3. retrieved "en_US.lang" file
4. edit with Notepad++
I hope that answers your question. If not then please be more specific.
I really have no reason to post on this part of the forums anymore.
It's like you come to town and the marketplace has been demolished and replaced with a statue of Lenin.
Sure, a lot of the stuff you come for is still there but it feels empty and hollow without the center of community.

The next release will also feature all alternate textures for both creatures and terrain, all contained in a neat little extras folder in the zip.
Unfortunately I will not be doing water and lava for a very long time, due to the sheer difficulty of the matter.

As always, your work is greatly appreciated by those who wish to add some audible flair to their game.
