posted a message on Buildcraft Turns Vanilla!!

You should never call an idea "The _____ Update!" without justifying it.

Hoppers, droppers and water streams. I know it's a lot more work then a transport tube, but it's technically already possible.
TBH, the transport pipes are kinda cool. But the rest of buildcraft would just turn me off of Minecraft, so it really wouldn't be worth it IMO.

    And Ender Chests.

    Quote from Xystem4»

Well, that's sort of the point. You're forced to venture into dangerous situations before you can just safely hide from the danger. It would make the beginning of any world much more dynamic. Also, it's not like finding your first iron would be any harder, if it's your first time going in a cave the torches make no difference to anything other than being able to see; the mobs would already have been spawned.

We've had pre-lit torches since 2009, so it would be a horrible move to add that now. Making something dynamic isn't a good argument by itself. Furnaces would be more dynamic if we had to construct them instead of instantly craft them, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Torches Start Unlit - I really just don't see the appeal in this. I don't want to place 20 torches in my caves and then ignite those 20 torches with more senseless clicking. This giving Flint & Steel another use is sadly meaningless, since the core itself doesn't need to be implemented.

Torches Burning Out Near Water - Now this is way more plausible but nothing great. This part has realism without heavily digging into gameplay too much. Therefore, giving Flint & Steel a new use for this is still nothing special, it's part of a better core idea. I could live if this half of the idea was in the game, but I'd probably still not add it anyway.

posted a message on "Semi" Realistic Rain

A- for effort, but this just makes things more complicated than they need to be. Tweaking rain won't hurt anything, but flooding was would be absolutely micromanagey and terrible. Also, I'd ditch the "maybe you can turn it off concept" in your poll, as that's a bad appraoch to a suggestion like this.

If the idea is balanced enough, it doesn't need to be optional.

I wish people would stop complaining about 'forced' group work. If you have a problem with the person you're paired up with, by all means talk to the teacher, but don't dismiss the entire concept.

Sorry kids, in the real world you're gonna have to learn to work with other people, and those other people aren't always going to be your best friends. And the point of school is to teach you how to handle yourself in the real world. As much as I think it fails to do that in a lot of ways, forced group work is not one of them.

You don't need to be so confrontational about this. This really goes without saying. Some of what we're talking about is when teachers go "For this assignment you need to draw a picture of a cat! Pair up with 5 other people just to do it!"

It doesn't matter if we need to learn group work in real life, it can still be a stupid thing in our school. That's what your thread is about.

Jumpscares are cheap. Even a 5-year-old can add one in a movie. It's nothing special. Some writers don't know how to write in a good atmospheric scare so they rely on dopey "boo! gotcha!" moments.

I'm glad forced group work was brought up. Everyone got to be partners with who they wanted while I always, always got paired up with the laziest kid. Twice in a row I got some failure who would fall asleep when the worktime began. I begged the teachers to split us up so he wouldn't share my good grade only I put effort in.

Boy do I NOT miss high school.

posted a message on New Gamemode: Nightpocalypse

This is one of those classic "take survival mode but tweak stuff around". This is too subjective to be it's own unique gamemode. I'm sure players will just take advantage of the extra mobs --> extra drops anyway.

Yeah... I'm just gonna go ahead and not do that.

We're slapping in cinnamon and weird breaksticks because... "Minecraft isn't real life and life isn't easy." I don't think I can stretch my imagination far enough to ever find a flicker of logic in that. I don't get it, there's really just no real point to any of that.

Nnnnyope. That is way too many colors to keep track of just for building. It works for armor, not at all for blocks.
