Does this describe what is occurring? http://www.minecraft...0#entry17006670

Yes, except for the fact that I am not falling (the y location doesn't move). Also, restarting the game will cause the map to load and stick my halfway into the block below me

I had a similar bug once. I was on my redstone test map I used the /kill comand (so I could get out of my redstone circiutry without destroying it) and when I respawned I was under an invisible section of ground, so I had to dig up where I could see (it wasn't a visual bug; the detection would make you bounce, rather than stop, when you hit an invisibe wall/floor). after I reloaded though, never got that bug again. but your problem sounds more severe. try using mcedit to save the important parts of your world and import it into another world.

    Thanks

what probably happened was a ghast destroyed the portal, so drop the special items and kill yourself, then go through the portal again, and it will spawn a new one

Nah, the problem has changed so now going into the nether doesn't cause a problem, but upon coming back out the terrain doesn't load and I just sit their watching animals walk by. However, if I reload the game everything works fine except for that I'll spawn halfway underground (so my feet are in the obsidian that makes up the bottom of the portal). I'm guessing that the save is corrupt like

Try loading a new world. If the new world works, yours is probably corrupted. There are tools for fixing corruptions, but they aren't always very reliable. If you have a backup, I would recommend restoring it.

Thank you. Where can I find the tools for fixing corruptions? I've done a lot of work in this world and I don't want to lose it all

I just built a portal into the nether and there is no return portal. I entered the nether, mined 128 blocks of netherrack and went back into the overworld to put the stuff in a chest. I then entered the underworld again and nothing. I was in a random expance of red light for as far as the eye could see. In the distance I could see mobs standing around (no one was moving). It did not appear as if I could move either as pressing the movement keys had no visible effect. I finally exited out with the task manager and restarted minecraft. I had the same f3 coordinates as before but I was in a different place. after a while I died and I spawned back in the overworld. I re-entered the portal without a problem but upon my return, I was in the sky. I could see the sun setting and a few spiders in the distance but the terrain wasn't coming and I couldn't walk (I checked my alt with f3 and I wasn't falling) I reloaded the game and it stuck me in the ground near the portal. wtf
Has anyone heard of something like this happening before? Thanks

posted a message on Question about minecraft exe
I play dwarf fortress and that game has an exporter that will export dwarf fortress levels into minecraft indev levels. The problem is that the only way that I know on how to access the files is by downgrading minecraft to indev. The problem is that I also play the current version of minecraft. From what I understand, to launch minecraft I launch the minecraft.exe application, which then loads the .minecraft file from appdata/roaming/.minecraft. Currently, if I want to switch between the two versions, I have to first back up my current version, and then delete everything in the current .minecraft folder and replace it with the contents from the other version's backup folder. I think that this method takes too long and is too complicated. My question is, is there a way to trick the .exe into loading the file from a different folder? From what I understand, one method would be to replace the .minecraft file with a link to a different folder, and then just change where the link goes to before I launch minecraft (I believe that this feature is either known as a junction point or an lnk file, however I'm not sure which one if either is correct). One redirect would send it to indev minecraft, the other link would send it to current minecraft. This could be accomplished with a small program that will first ask me what version I want to load, and will then delete the old redirect file and replace it with a redirect to the version I want to load (still just as complicated, however as it is only changing a single small file it will be much faster than copy pasting everything in the .minecraft folder). I was wondering if there was a superior way to do this? Is there a way to make it so that the minecraft exe does not open from the appdata/roaming/.minecraft folder and instead looks somewhere else? If this is the case, I could then simply make a indev minecraft launcher and a current minecraft launcher and not have to mess with changing folders every time I want to play a different version. Thanks.

In summery, the things I want to learn are:
    1. Can I do something to the minecraft exe so that it doesn't load from .minecraft (even if it simply loads from .minecraft/example instead of the normal .minecraft)
    2. If this is not possible, could I change the .minecraft folder so that minecraft.exe will try to load from .minecraft but will instead be tricked into loading files from somewhere else?
    3. If so, what would I need to look into to be able to do this? Are junction points the right thing to be looking at? .lnk files? or do I need to be looking elsewhere?

PS: I have experience in C++ programming and some limited experience with working with .bat files. I have never worked with junction points or stuff like that before however I would very much like to learn.

I'm sorry but I don't know where to post this so I am posting it here. If there is a better place, please tell me and I'll ask a mod to move it. Thank You.

I like to play dwarf fortress. There is a dwarf fortress application that can export Dwarf Fortress maps into Minecraft however the problem is that it can only export to indev versions of minecraft. I own a legal copy of minecraft, is there a way for me to use indev so that I can view the maps? If not, is there a conversion app that I can use to update the map into a newer version of minecraft? Thank you very much

Problem with the zipline mod, not modloader.

Ok, I just figured out that the problem was I had a folder called "mods" in my minecraft folder. In the past the game ignored the folder however it appears that it no longer does so.

    Thanks for the help

Clear out the mods folder of any old mods.

Ok, I've done that several times however it still crashes. Other mods work but this one doesn't. I have a legit copy of minecraft that I bought from minecraft.net. Also, any idea why the error message will only display for a second and then disappear? I don't have time to read it. Thanks
PS: I've used this mod before without issue and I've read the instructions 5 times. I'm certain I'm not missing anything
PS: I used the adfly download, could the save be corrupted? I'll try one of your alt downloads next
PS Thanks for all your hard work on this mod, we appreciate it

Though I don't know if More Stackables caused it, so there's the report. I just dropped the new files from More Stackables 1.12.rar into my Minecraft.jar, on top of the old ones, I suppose I should have started from a fresh minecraft.jar?

Later: It kept crashing with the same error even with a fresh install so i reverted to More Stackables 1.11 and it works fine. I do have Xau's texture fix and MrMessiah's simple map and ambient occlusion installed, plus a couple custom texture files.

I am getting a similar error except for that I don't have any other mods. It also says "Mods loaded: 1 ModLoader Beta 1.8.1". The error message appears and then almost instantly disappears so I can't see what else it says, only the stuff at the top. I tried re-downloading and re installing it 3 times and it still doesn't work. I'm using 7zip to open and save the file. The only thing even close to a mod that I use is I gave minecraft more RAM and more CPU priority than it normally has (which should only make it run better).

posted a message on [REQ] Grappling Hook Art
    Quote from Dreoh

Realistically this would be impossible, unless you had hulk arms and could create an upward wave motion to travel up the length of the rope with such force to unhinge it from its resting place, but MC is a video game so im sure theres some excuse that can be made :cobblestone:

It is possible, you just have two ropes, a large rope you climb, and a second very small wire. When you reach the bottom you pull the wire and it un-locks the prongs on the hook. As they are now free to move on a hinge, they will no longer keep the grappling hook secure and you can now just pull it down, no hulk arms required
